So you buy an obscenely expensive iPad and it doesn't have 3D touch feature in ios9 that apple have just advertised as the next big development on from multitouch so clearly all devices will have it soon.

Both my wife and I were sold on the pro for one each until we saw this. Wife still wants once, but she is also getting a 6s so surely it will instantly make the iPad Pro seem lacking and out of date as it will have all the same software but not be able to use the features in the exact same way my iPhone 6 will seem out of date compared to the 6s. But a brand new iPad, over twice the cost of the 6s phone shouldn't seem out of date like last years phone!

Seems almost like they advertised the big feature of the iPad Pro 2 already, showing how the 1st gen is out of date before it's even launched!

Seems crazy to me and I'm utterly put off now. Anyone else feel the same?
Don't let APPLE win.

If you knew apple, you would realise they will milk each update by introducing new features slowly. They want you to update each generation . Yeah it sucks , but it's on purpose. Only one product at a time gets a new feature.... Just the way it is . Gotta buy those 2nd, 3rd.... Etc generations

Also force touch is yet to be proven as a must have.
It doesn't have to be that way. Once people realize this..they would purchase from different companies and make Apple become desperate.

While it is true that 3D Touch could be implemented without the Taptic Engine, I don't think Apple would do that since haptic feedback is such an important part of 3D Touch. It allows you to sense when you have pushed hard enough to activate the function. In the case of force touch trackpads, it allows you a second level of pressure to preview a file instead of just select or open it. If Apple was able to make the entire iPad 3D Touch or force touch with haptic feedback, that would bring a lot more functions and would make the iPad a really great device since you can "feel" your content. The fact that it is missing on the iPad pro I feel is still acceptable for now since there aren't that many apps that use force touch yet. On iPads,we would need deeper uses for 3D Touch than just previewing. Maybe if it could be used to open contextual menus or even more options on an iPad that just wouldn't be possible to see on iPhones or smaller devices.

This presumes that other companies are able to offer the same or better things than what they want from Apple (a seamless and integrated computing solution which just works right out of the box), and for many people, that simply isn't the case.

Or or or....it could just be supply chain issues which means they can't provide every new feature for all three products.

3D Touch isn't a gimmick. LOL!

I couldn't agree more. It really wasn't the feature that convinced me to buy an iPhone 6s, but after using it for a week with IOS 9, it has solved one of the most frustrating aspects of any touch enabled smartphone, touch a little harder on the keyboard and it turns into a touchpad. Absolutely awesome and it really opens the door for developers to extend the functionality further. How many times I've written a long email response on my iPad and then noticed an error and try to touch at the right spot to fix it and then giving up and having to backspace to correct the problem. 3D touch solves the problem in spades! I wouldn't buy another touch device that didn't have this functionality.

Coming in late. Maybe it's been mentioned, but I actually think part of the reason is the size and weight. Just on the (comparatively) little iPhones, the new featured added imperceptible size change but significant weight change that you can feel. Can you image the weight increase on a 12.9" screen to add that feature? It'd add a pound to the weight! They need to figure out a way to save weight elsewhere or bring it down before they can add it to any iPad

in the macbook it has Taptic feedback on the trackpad force touch, even in the watch...so it's clear Apple with this tech likes to have tactic engine too

That (seamless integrated computing solution which just works right out of the box) used to be true but isn't so much now.

When people vote with their $$$ Apple listens. Apple refused to produce a 7" tablet. Flat out refused. It was only after significant sales of 7" Android tablets that Apple relented. Apple refused to produce phablets. Again, flat out refused. It was only after significant sales of gargantuan smartphones that Apple produced one.

The best thing that someone can do (who wants an iPad Pro that is more "Pro" than it currently is) is to buy a competitive "pro" tablet that has the features/functions one wants on that iPad Pro. That sounds counter-intuitive but it has been shown to work.

Agreed. I'm not sure what to do, currently rocking an iPad 4 128GB in excellent condition, I was prepared to throw a lot of money towards an iPad Pro with 256GB and 3D touch. No 3D touch and the same capacity has me wondering if I should just stick with the 9.7" form factor and get an LTE iPad Air 2 128GB at Refurb store pricing.
I love my iPad Air 2 and after reading no 3D Touch...ill wail until next year to upgrade.

Have to say I was ready to pour the big $ into the iPad Pro until I got my 6s Plus. I was initially skeptical about the real world application of 3D Touch but am using it constantly. When I use my current iPad I miss that function so I'll wait another year on upgrading the iPad. Real bummer cause my current one is SO OLD. But it works. And the year will fly by like they all do.

Meh,... Technology is a "live in the moment" item to purchase and use. You cant wait forever for every new feature or next chip upgrade. Jump on in now and enjoy the new stuff. There were enough solid upgrades this year to have me order a Mini 4 128 now and a IPad Pro 128 when they start to take orders. You only live once and these are very valuable tools for me to use and enjoy. They are a expendable tool that will always be outdated soon enough for the next great thing or format you didn't know you needed.

Most accurate comment, thankyou i just notice i barely use force touch on my iphone 6s plus, i use ipad mostly for portable sketching-illustration, sometimes read, watch videos and play hearthstone, i try the ipad pro pencil and is awesome, sketch pro never felt so nice, i love the big screen for what i need is allright for me. :apple:
