When you preordered from
B and h did it say this at checkout

Some items in your order are not regularly stocked items. Please allow for an extra 7-14 days before your items will ship from B&H.

Yup, same here. I think that's just a general message the site generates, I don't really think much of that. If it takes that long I'll just cancel.

Just ordered the Gold 128 GB LTE model from Verizon's website. I'm a little undecided on the color but I've been thinking of going gold for a while know and made the jump.

It will be here by 10:30am on Friday! Very stoked. The device payment plan is nice!

The Silver model was showing a later ship date for some reason? They may have very limited stock and sold out already?

On a side note I think the Apple TV had a larger preorder thread, if that's indicative of demand I think the Pro launch may be underwhelming in sales.

As a general statement I feel like recent launches like the TV have been lackluster and lack the usual Apple hype. I understand this is a "pro" device but I bet if you asked most people don't even know about it.

Just try to remember how not-at-all-unique this and every Apple product launch is.

It didn't shut down before Apple TV went up for sale. It doesn't always go down.
okay I thought it always go down maybe when apple releasing just one product then probably they don't do this. But it would be a good hint for us. What I remember that when they used to launch iPhone etch... they close online store at 12am EST right?

I didn't pay enough attention to notice that..but mine doesn't have ship date or anything

lol your right. That being said maybe it's time for some change, break away from these yearly predictable updates. I'm an Apple fan as much as the next here and I'm buying the Pro but I think we need to seem some really impressive tech development soon from Apple, maybe the iPhone 7 or a new device.

Well it would be dow then now.

Here's a thought... now that the product pages are integrated with purchasing, I doubt we'll see the "We'll be back soon" message anymore.

This product release is just weird. Nobody knows anything. I called Apple Sydney to see if they could confirm that the iPad pro would be out this week, like what Apple said in their press release. They said they have no idea and that their personal guess would be the very end of November?

I get they can't give out information about unreleased products, but they didn't even know that the iPad is meant to be out this week

Every time is a little different. I'm sure they have their reasons for whatever they do or do not do. I suspect that products without any remaining secrets already have all of their static content distributed across the CDN so there is no reason to pull the site down for any time. All that will happen is some minor logic will change based on a back end signal or even time and the buy buttons will appear.

That's how the Apple TV sale began, and it wasn't even right on the hour. It was like, 38 minutes after or something random.

And for everyone else, I would point to the second iPad Mini launch which was just like this. Not ever Apple product launches in some majorly synchronized manner. Sometimes... they just show up at some point. I am guessing it relates to expected demand and excitement. For as interesting as iPad Pro is, ultimately it's just a bigger faster iPad. Other than the pencil and dedicated keyboard port it's essentially a spec bump. My speculation is that the change in behavior we see is going to continue indefinitely as Apple begins to treat iPad like their laptops with minimal updates at a slower, less scheduled pace. I wouldn't even be surprised if iPad Air 3 is a spec bump without much mention at all. The numbers show us clearly that iPad is a declining business. I doubt it will go away, as the people who love their tablets *REALLY* love them, but, Apple is likely going to ramp down the focus, treat all 3 sizes as one line with serialized updates and move their innovation focus to other devices.

Just my guess (and also my supposition basis for the less organized launch this time.)

When can we expect to see expected shipping dates through b&h from past experience?
In my experience, they communicate everything they know. If they don't have anything, they don't know anything for certain. Most likely given that Apple is the source, they won't know anything but vague generalizations of when they will get some uncertain amount of stock at which point they will send you an order update saying the ship estimate.

Wow that was very ambitious and thoughtful to call Sydney store. In store stock could be on Friday, apple employee might not have any permissions to talk about unreleased products.

Yes I think apple should not or may not be expecting sales like new iPhone launch. Bump up specs or minor upgrades does not draw much attention. IPad pro still has some new features like bigger screen, pencil, smart keyboard so it still has some potential. I still think apple should announce their new product little louder. One day I went to apple store and saw new Macbook and I was surprised how quietly it was released.

You are probably right, and I am close to going to bed. Thinking if Apple says a pro product, maybe they release during the day like the Apple TV. I don't remember the Mini 2 launch, but I know iPad launches have always been a different breed.

so it is official ? we can pre-order Apple iPad pro?
or just from carriers or third party retailers?

Third party retailers are all running on their own scripts right now, it seems. Some have taken pre-orders days ago and already "sold out." Some have entirely different expected ship times, weeks apart. Earlier, B&H Photo Video started taking pre-orders with no indication of shipping times. A while before that, VZW took orders. Probably sold out now I'd guess.

Apple is likely to have vastly more stock than these third parties and they have only said that on the 11th, orders would open up online and "later in the week" stores would have stock. That's literally all we know right now. Personally I'm just checking Apple.com about every hour and maybe at some point I'll forget it and check again when I wake up in bout 7 hours from now. That's right about when the Apple TV went on sale during its very similar launch.

don't go to sleep man, i will pre order yours, so stay and press the buy button faster than me

Anyone thinking or planning to go to an Apple store tomorrow and see if by some odd reason they have them in store?
I've heard a few people mention friends from an Apple store said they had them in the back, but maybe they can't sell them until Friday?

Kal.
I was thinking the same thing! I wonder?
