thanks for the update! Can you try gaming and see what the performance is like? Any game really, but if possible, Starcraft 2 or WoW. I'm selfishly asking if those 2 would run well with jump desktop :D

What you are really using the iPad Pro for is a remote terminal for your non-iOS computers.

We tried this years ago and the technology just wasn't up to satisfactory standards, especially speed. It sounds like things have improved a bit since then. Too bad one can't use a mouse with iOS apps.

Interesting thread... I have an IPP 9.7 and just ordered the X1. I hope it will be stuiable for left handed users, as I cannot find ANY information related to that. At least Swiftpoint makes it clear it is only for right handers. Comment are greatly appreciated.

Cheers, Vince

Looks like a fairly standard mouse, I can't see any issues using it left handed..

I'm a lefty, but use the mouse with my right hand. :)

But... the X1 mouse is symmetrical so physically it will feel just as comfortable with either hand. Jump Desktop provides settings for altering the mouse functionality... so if you use the mouse with your left hand and prefer to have the button functions swapped, Jump Desktop can do it.

I did this too, also ordered the new Logitech Create smart keyboard for my 9.7. Works pretty well overall although I do wish Apple would build in some shortcuts for Escape, Delete and Function keys. That can be a bit annoying...

I just got the Citrix X1 and it honestly doesn't work well in Jump Desktop. The implementation of mouse support in Jump Desktop apparently is completely linear, whereas both macOS and Windows have an acceleration curve. The upshot of this is that the mouse doesn't move like it does on your desktop, and it's impossible to make fine grained movements like selecting text. I hope they fix this ... sigh ... the perils of buying a hacky solution.

I imagine it has to do with your usual mouse speed tuning. I always have it to the fastest and maximum acceleration, and I do not find too much difference for the kind of work I do.

The problem with the X1 mouse (or maybe with other mice too) is that it lost the connection to the mouse if you don't use it for some minutes or if you switch to another app. The only way to reconnect is to "kill" the Jump Desktop app and start it again. This is very annoying! Hope they fix it any time soon....

As mentioned above, you can email support and join the beta testing. That problem has been resolved for me.

Ne1 tried Microsoft arc mouse?

I had an accident with my 15" rMBP a month ago and used it to try to see if I could make a transition to iPad pro as my mobile computer. I have both a Mac Pro and a virtualization server with Windows 10 and Ubuntu for different needs. Using jump desktop and this new strange mouse the ergonomy is good enough (especially in Windows), I think I am not needing a laptop anymore. Both with Wifi (especially using high speed fiber access), LTE or 3G.

I now this may sound a little complex to implement, but at the same time not having to maintain an additional computer leads to important improvements. And I like the 4:3 display much more than movie-oriented screens from laptops.

I know you may do something similar with Citrix (if your company supports it) and other solutions. For instance, I also use splashtop and teamviewer in some cases, but I think this is the best current solution to the iPad/laptop discussion. I also prefer this solution to a Surface, as I really like the iPad in terms of hardware, battery live, etc.

Swiftpoint GT Remote Desktop by Grant Odgers

I just wanted to note that it seems the Swiftpoint GT Remote Desktop does not work with the Citrix X1 mouse. It does though work with the Swiftpoint GT mouse. I returned the Swiftpoint GT mouse as I did not care for it nor needed all it's fancy bells and whistles. I instead purchased the Citrix X1 (just a plain normal sized mouse) and it works great with Jump Desktop.

Sorry for the late bump. I am considering moving through to an all iPad setup and dropping my 15" rMBP. For work, the rMBP connects to work machines (I work in IT, so this will either be my many desktop workstations, or Windows server environments) via RDP. An iPad + keyboard/mouse combo could do this.

The emphasis being on having a usable mouse.

Does the native Microsoft Remote Desktop for iOS (RD Client app yet support mouse input devices such as these?

No.

Two little things (maybe they were pointed out earlier ...):
- jump desktop supports RDP, VNC and their own protocol (fluid), and the mouses (Swiftpoint and X1) are supported in all of them.
- Also Splashtop now also supports the Swiftpoint GT mouse. It uses their own protocol, which also supports sound streaming.
