That's crazy. Maybe by the end of the day perhaps?! Same shipping dates? Checked email. Nothing so far.

From what everyone had been saying it ships from Texas?? So it's only noonish in Texas right? FedEx picks up til 8 pm or later for larger orders.

How do I sign up for text notification?

Also - for those who got shipping notice - was your card charged yet?

Not necessarily related to AT&T orders, but an update on my post from Monday. My target.com order shipped today and is arriving tomorrow. Clearly going to cancel my AT&T order. They had their chance. Not sure why Apple isn't supplying AT&T with any iPPs to sell when they're clearly getting them to other 3rd party stores. 128GB Silver LTE model for 15% off + additional 5% off with REDCard. Didn't want to spend it all up front, but for a ~$200 savings and getting it in a couple days as opposed to couple weeks (or more), I'll do it.

I think it's carriers in general.. Not just AT&T. I don't think Apple favors the installment plan... I mean, if it's taking a sale away from their stores.

Understanding Apple perspective is that the carriers wins for the simple fact customers sign up for data plans & carriers get profits off their product by enticing them with installment plans. There's gotta be a reason that carriers don't allow Apple to do installment plans for iPads.

Granted Apple does make iPhones widely available to carriers, but iPhones are Apples biggest money product. iPads are not as popular compared to iPhones. And I would like to think that their is a higher value in terms of negotiations between Apple and carriers for the iPhone.

FYI mine just shipped from AT&T.

Totally commenting because I don't know - maybe someone can help - but isn't a iPad sale a sale no matter who it goes through - apples making money no matter what - and on top of that they want more iPads out in the wild so people can spend money on Apple accessories and apps!!! Why...? 30%

Also - AT&T and Apple been working this game together for a while. Target and Best Buy especially prolly are more of a danger to Apple than AT&T because they sell more types of devices from many competitors.

I don't get it... Maybe AT&T sold all there allotment right away.

Ps- when did everyone order who has had their order ship? My ship date was 27th - 4th.

Mine is showing shipped by UPS. UPS isn't updated yet but being that I live in Dallas/Ft Worth I would hope it would deliver tomorrow or Friday. Some people are showing FEDEX and I'm showing UPS. Hrmmm...

Did you choose regular or expedited shipping?

You people are lucky. Anyone buying now have a ship date of after 12/23, and my order on Verizon says 12/24

Yes, but not the same. The way I assume it works, based on previous experience with vendors, is that Apple sells them to AT&T. The margin the get from them is probably less than selling themselves. Also, if you buy direct from Apple, you're more likely to buy your accessories from them, and Apple Care. I'm sure they've done tons of research, and it probably benefits them to sell more direct than via the carriers.

Just a guess though.

Good guess - they have a fixed overhead with their stores, they clearly want to shift the sales into the stores.
Makes sense to them and the stockholders, but not necessarily the customer - after all the utter is the reason they are in the business in the first place
Then again could be AT&T - maybe they don't give a hoot - selling iPads is not their core business and delaying it works in their favor. They don't have to do free financing and still get most likely the business of being the provider.

From apples standpoint they have iPads sitting on shelves in stores... If it was a total washout... I'd see it falling apples way...

I live in NJ at the moment and between New York and Philly there are like 15 Apple stores I could drive to and pick up a 128 LTE SG IPP.

If they moved some of those to other vendors they would see more iPads in the hands of paying iTunes customers... Also the iPad has been in decline. I would think they would be trying to go for volume right now.
