The tab reloading problem in Safari is not due a lack of RAM.
Adding more RAM will not fix it.

Based on what? What causes it then?

BOTH the above! If the lack of RAM was the cause of Safari reloading web pages, then why do other browsers on the iPad NOT have the same issue? It is NOT the Ram at fault.

Errr, I take it you haven't used iOS Chrome recently? It does exactly the same thing as Safari.

Given that Chrome and the other alternate iOS browsers all use the Safari rendering engine, it is not surprising that they have this limitation as well...

We've had months of rumours about expected new iPhone models for October 2014.. But nothing about new iPad models.

What do you folks think? Can we expect new models later this year, or will we be waiting for a 2015 refresh?

If we're due new models, what are your predictions?

I'm guessing this year we'll see just a spec bump. To me, Apple doesn't seem to need to compete specs with Android anymore as the OS has become so streamlined that adding octocore processors and 3gb of ram (ie Tab S) is not a necessity as the iPad STILL runs smoother and faster than the new flagship Samsung Tablets.

I have an iPad Air and an rMini. I plan on giving my rMini to a family member for Christmas this year and just keeping my Air for one more year. I doubt I'll feel compelled to do an upgrade this year in the hopes that the iPad 6 next year is some new beastly tablet with hopefully a new iOS!

I think it would make a lot of sense if they release the new iPad along with the iPhone 6 & iOS 8.

Unfortunately looking at the history for the past 2 years, I think October is most likely the release date.

The dummy leaked iPad Air 2 is out already. Thinner, touch ID, yadda yadda.

Surprise. It'll be faster, thinner and have touch ID.

And I'm getting one to replace my windows laptop.

You only need to search this site for people using other browsers with NO reloading issues. The RAM is NOT the issue.

You can read through this thread from 2011 if you want stating how the same browers had the issue back then and the same browsers did not:

Yes

RAM has nothing to do with reloading pages.

My Android phone reloads them too. Chrome. and this is while I have 500MB free in memory.

Im guessing it will just be a minor spec bump since they redesigned everything last year.

I think it will be a major spec bump, but also a redesign inside.

You can already see from the leaks, things were moved around, and whenever things are moved, it means major change inside.

Like an iPhone 4 and 4s. They look the same at a glance, but they aren't. The buttons were moved, the antenna was changed. the home button and the way it was built into the phone was changed also.

It seems odd that we've seen so many rumours and supposed leaks of the iPhone, including images purporting to be of the new devices.. Yet very little relating to an iPad refresh..

I have a feeling that with an expected iWatch, new iPhones and probable ATV, the iPad may not be refreshed until sometime in 2015.

There are no "leaks" because the new iPads will just look the same except for the TouchID home button.

I hope that will be true. I don't see the point of getting iPad thinner than this. It is THIN enough people! Maybe make it lighter.

I am hoping for Touch ID too. And most importantly durable home button and power button. I had bad experience with iPhone 5's power button; it is spoiled after around a year of usage. SUcks.
