Coming from a 3rd gen iPad owner, the 4th gen isn't a big enough of a jump to go one generation. From 2nd or 1st gen, I can understand, but hard to justify (from Gazelle) losing 50% of your 3rd gen iPad's value in 8 months...

And if you wait until the next refresh, you will probably get the same amount if you time it right.

I don't think it's that much of an increase, is it? $304 cash for 32GB? hm.

looks like $4 more cash? But still if I were trading in my iPad 3 (I'm not) i'd rather walk into my gamestop and get instant cash over sending it in and waiting.

Got my Amazon trade-in all set up, $460 for my 32GB 3rd Gen. Not 100% I'll follow through with it, but $140 for 7 months of use ($20/month, $0.67/day :) )?

I'm pretty much OK with it. :D

In our case, Amazon credit == Cash.

Why are people selling their iPad 3s? The only difference between the iPad 3 and iPad 4 is that slightly faster A6X chip and the FaceTime HD camera. It should not even be called "new", it should just be a silent update like the Late 2011 MacBook Pros.
Most people are not going to sell their perfectly capable iPads and lose half the value for something that is pretty much the same.

because some people are mental and love to dream about how cool the software will be for their toy once its actually optimized to take advantage of the power in 2 years

That's why I'd go with Craigslist were I to do it. It's more tied to local prices than online trade shops.
The point is, you were encouraging people to sell their iPads. Regardless of where they do it, the more people that sell them, the less yours is worth (supply increases at a constant demand).

Gazelle

Gazelle's buy prices are simply a joke, local classifieds let alone ebay can usually yield 75%-100% of your return if its a previous generation product.

Also most people will come right to your door to pick it up with cash within minutes, I seriously can't believe people would sell online and wait forever to get paid let alone a low price… maybe just me but seems insane.

Also condition terms comes down to your word vs. Gazelles.
