you bought a $900 ipad you lose from the beginning

Well I wanted cellular and 32gb is already tight considering the big size of the retina iPad apps. AppleCare+ is my only way of protecting it. It ran up close to $900 quicker than I would have preferred.

After paying close to $900 for the iPad listed in my sig plus applecare+ it is a little disappointing to see that I can only get roughly $400 back from a 7 month old device.

I was able to sell my 2 year iPhone 4 for $260. Thats only a $140 difference for two completely different experiences. What a shame. Still feel like Apple burned us. I guess I'll be smart with my money and wait two years from my purchase date to see what is out then.

Sell it on ebay and you'll make most of it back. No way would I basically give it to these sorts of companies, who will in turn sell it for the ebay price anyway.

It would be hilarious if this is just an interim update for the sake of switching to the Lightning connector, in which case the established yearly cycle is still in effect and the 5th gen iPad will be released in March, then these spec bump-chasing freaks will have to sell their 5 month old iPads...

The main reason I'm thinking of selling is because of the lightning connector. As stupid as it might seem, I want one cable to use between my ipad and iPhone. And as people have mentioned, they're already acting like the 3rd gen iPad didn't exist. If they do release another new one in March, I won't care. I just want to get out from under the old technology of the 30-pin connector before it really plummets in resale value.

I can sell to Gazelle and skip the eBay, PayPal, and shipping fees and come out about the same. Plus, I don't have to worry about a buyer disputing the sale and scamming me out of the money.

I locked in a higher price since I got my offer during the presentation before the new, new iPads were announced.

It is well worth it in my opinion.

My theory has been that they needed to do this once to fix the release schedule. Apple has placed themselves in a bind with the iPad and iPhone releases being about 6-7 months apart. They can't make a revolutionary change to either without giving away the big surprise for the other, and they can't make a huge change that effects the way the devices are expected to run apps when they're both expected to run mostly the same applications and sit months apart on release cycles. This is something I've been waiting for Apple to just make a leap like this to fix.

While I definitely agree with you there. I feel like Apple is putting all of their eggs in one basket. The first 3/4 of the year they released 2 products. New iPad, and new MacBooks. Now in the past 1-2 months they've released their entire product line. How beneficial is it for Apple as a company to release their entire product portfolio in one sitting?

I must be really out of date since I'm still running my iPad 2. I guess I might be in the minority, but there is no way possible I could keep up with all of this unless I just wanted to max a credit card.

I always do the annual upgrade thing but I don't get why so many 3rd Gen owners are quick to flip theirs at this point. The 4th gen seems like a minor bump to me. What's the attraction?

Do you think the iPad Mini will sell out like the iPhone 5 on the pre-order day?

Far better, I got over a hundred for my 32GB iPhone 3GS when this Gazelle would give me all of thirty dollars.

$30 is bad! Well done.

I hate buying directly from Apple as you always pay the full whack! Amazon's deal for an iPad 3 is very good though. You can always get a good deal if you know where to look/refurbishments.

I was a bit surprised at the current prices of the 3GS, one person said they sold their iPhone 4 for fifty dollars. They were basing it on contract prices, I just bought an iPhone 4S and it of course cost a bit more then a contract price. If I could get over a hundred for a 3GS an iPhone 4 would have a bit on that.

Not sure how much another three year old smart phone would go for.

i sold my sisters iPhone 4 16 GB for 350€ and it was over two years old. u can get it new for 399€, there r many idiots on eBay

Apple products have an amazing resell value. I sold my old scratches up 2008 Unibody MacBook Pro for over 600€ this year. I would not have payed that if I were to purchase it...

But ever since I realized the resell value I keep all my new Apple products in a protective case so to keep their value as high as possible.

Honesty agreed, this time around there's no real incentive for me or anyone that matter to upgrade. I'll wait for the 5th or 6th gen iPad before upgrade again.

well its twice as fast and the main reason is that the iPad 3 sells for more now compared to when the 5th comes out

Some used prices amaze me, people will bid up to close to new prices at times, once a Macbook Pro was going for close to the price of a newer model.

what's the point? it's ludicrous. its insane to see how people became obsessed with these spec bumps and how easily they trade their money just for a minor change. the damn thing is just as good as it was 5 months ago. god sake... grow up

The new New iPad with Retina Display is TWICE as fast as the old obsolete model, and has a Lightning Connector.

That is hardly "just a spec bump".

But are you willing to upgrade in 4-5 months when the spring refresh comes out if there is one? I upgraded from an iPad 2 to the iPad 3 for the retina display and for what it's worth I still feel as if this iPad is sufficient for my needs. An A6X, and lightning connector isn't enough for me to upgrade only 6 months later vs. annual like I normally have. Different strokes I guess

A jump of 700-1000% isn't all that impressive when you consider how many people were selling their 3rd-gen iPads prior to this announcement (hint: not many).

If I was in business, I'd take a 700% increase even if my sales were $1.00. It's good no matter how you look at it.

Frankly, I am somewhat concerned about the ethics of selling my massive POS iPad 1. I really don't think it would be moral to sell it without the buyer understanding it crashes literally every few minutes, but writing that on any sales ad would make the value drop too low.

Donate it to a charity like a homeless shelter. You can claim a tax deduction up to $500 without a problem. Depending on your bracket, that will be worth around $125 to you.
