Can't wait to see / buy v.2... I'm also amazed that this close to a new product launch, everything is dark, meaning no one has any real pictures of the upcoming release. Apple sure kept a lid on this one..

Amazon's running out of stock too. This is great news!

This actually would be welcome in my opinion! I'm in the market for both an iPad and an iMac, and I really want a new iMac way more than a new iPad...

Just buy the iPac, it's an iPad and an iMac all in one lovable little unit.

Possibly related

So I went to best buy last night to return the new MB 60w power supply I purchased last week to replace one that was damaged. It worked for two days then just went kaput.

Got to the desk, returned no problem then went to grab a new one. All gone, they had been pulled from the shelves. Looking in the system there were removed from all of the area's stores. Every last one of them. I can assure you there were some in stock the day before.

Maybe there is a new power supply for the ipad2 that is also compatible with the 60w power supply based laptops? (13" and below)

I'll believe it all when I see it. I never go by Best Buy; they're not that reliable with this stuff. If I recall, when the new iPhone 4's came out, they mucked things up a couple times. Adding Sku's, deleting them, then re-adding them. Putting something on before it was supposed too, and ended up being wrong to start....

I'm sure it's the new iPad2. Apple will continue to call it the iPad as well. One will be a Gen 1, the other Gen 2. Just like the iMac, MBP, etc....

oh no, so long my plan to buy an iPad1 for less than 499 US$ :(

It seems that the iPad will follow the path of the ipod, where the old version gets deprecated. I was hopping that it will take the path of the iPhone, where the old version gets cheaper :(

Well, the Mac Mini started at $499, then $599, now $699....

I'm thinking the iPad will go the same route, but gives the chance for AT&T and Verizon to subsidize...

Your guess is as good as mine...

Ipad 2

This confirms it. There will be no iPad 2. Wednesdays event will be about iMacs and mention the discontinuation of iPad which has been an under performer.

Its too bad that the Ipad was the best selling tablet, so it doesn't make sense that they would cancel it

I'd only be impressed if they are the same price or cheaper.

I'm thinking the new start is $599 (but all will have 3G). If you want it cheaper you can get them through subsidies or you can get a 1st gen refurb.

I sincerely doubt it. Apple had wiggle room with the first generation iPad to reduce the cost if they weren't selling well. Outside of a radical redesign the cost to produce the iPad2 will be less than the original.

Strategically, a lower entry price point is almost a checkmate move against Android. Android OEMs/ODMs can't compete with the iPad's current pricing structure a $100 across the board price drop would pretty much limit Android tablet sales on 2011 to anti-Apple consumers, Android fans and people who like to tinker with hardware and OS.

Considering also the Flash memory pricing doesn't drop as drastically as other components I think we're stuck at 16/32/64 for the next generation of iPads/iPhones 128GB is just too expensive/large right now for a consumer device. Personally I'd like to see $399 for 16GB + 3G that would be a killer blow.

The stagnant storage is where the new MobileMe comes in; 16GB won't matter when you have effectively an unlimited storage "in the cloud". All the signs are there for Apple to move their entire consumer and mobile line-up to SSD/Flash only. If it weren't for the increased margins of the 64GB and 32GB models I could easily see Apple offering a single iPhone and single iPad model.

Do we really need another rumor about how the iPad is disappearing from inventory on sites? We already know Apple is announcing the iPad 2 tomorrow, based on previous articles about dwindling inventory. Any rumor confirming that notion is redundant.

I like this logic. It is the only logical conclusion with the facts given.
R.I.P. iPad.
This is funny, but your logic is erroneous because you have omitted many, many facts.

They wouldn't have put an iPad image on the event invitation e-mail if it were about Macs.

Plus, we already know hard numbers about how well the iPad is selling based on three quarterly conference calls.

We could go on and on, but I think the point has been made.

We don't need it. But since these are rumors, the more confirming evidence there is, the better.
