that would be true, if people like myself weren't inclined to break their stuff. I don't break my things frequently, it's OTHER PEOPLE who use your stuff that you can't account for. If you never take your pad out of the house and coddle it every moment, then fine - don't get a warranty.

You know, the Shell station down the street exists to make money too.

You buy a product from shell and you get that product. Buying insurance for electronics is paying money for something most people will never use. Just giving money away. I never go to Shell and hand them $100 for no product.

It was more than worth it!

Those programs only exist because they make money. The low likelihood that you'll need it is not worth the price to pay for the coverage.

Dropping my iPad then having SquareTrade Paypal me the full amount for an iPad 2 in less than 4 days says it was more than worth the price I paid for the coverage!

Assume?

Here's another thought I had....You need to provide squaretrade with a serial number.

So lets say I go to replace my battery, Apple sends me a new iPad back with a new serial # I assume thus voiding this warranty correct? Something to think about!

You know what they say about assuming things right? Maybe you shouldn't assume and instead call them and find out for sure! Just a thought ;-)

Yes, for YOU. Thousands of other people lose money on insurance. Insurance companies make money because MOST people lose money on their "investment" in insurance.
