thanks all. i have started deleted stuffs. wow 16gb feels like 4 gb on the ipad and 32 on the ipod

I have 31.7 GB's available on my 64 gb iPad 2. I do have a lot of pics I can import to our network drive, and do some housekeeping on unused apps, movies, music...etc... but I got the 64 gb iPad so I wouldn't have to worry about space issues.

they itunes break down shows 4gb of others (yellow). what are the others

I know I experienced the same problem with my iphone in the past and turned out to be related to "updating" (as opposed to restoring) the os of a jailbroken iphone, then rejailbreaking. I actually read somewhere several months ago about why the "other" files were so large in this specific situation, but cant remember the details now. I ended up doing a restore/jailbreak and the amount of "other" files disk usage went down significantly.

I have no idea if this applies to your situation.

Something seems really strange, perhaps it is the magazines. As a frame of reference, I have 54 apps, 99 songs, 339 photos installed and I still have 8.4gb available on my 16gb ipad2. I don't have any movies and only 3 music videos.

I would be tempted to backup, do a complete restore and then selectively install things until you find out what is hogging your space.

Just install a microSD card in the expansion slot. It'll take up to 32gb.

Oh wait, that works for my Asus Transformer but not my iPad. Nevermind.

I remember your user name. You ALWAYS trying to say something about your Asus Transformer is better than the iPad.

GET A LIFE MAN!!!!

just wondering, if I rent and watch a movie from itunes does it delete after the 24 hr rental period? or do I have to delete it manually? if so, how?
thanks.
glad I got the 32 gb ipad.

pretty sure you have to delete them. rent from redbox my friend. and you delete them, as well as any video, the same way you delete emails and the like. finger swipe.

Ok, i am ashamed to add something else. I did jailbreak it. I think i will do a restore and see.

It deletes itself. Redbox is cheap, but if you are watching on an iPad you have to go to a red box, rip the dvd, convert, transfer, then return it which is worth more than the difference to me ($2-3 dollars difference = time/gas to get to red box, rip, and return it (then delete it after watching to stay legal?) PLUS iTunes gets new releases on Tuesday after midnight (about the only time I can watch movies anyway) so I usually rent then before it's in the red box (although if its something really good I'll wait for the red box blu-ray or buy it.)

I think red box make all their profit on "late" fees and non returns.
