You still haven't answered my question.

I asked the question too.. OP won't answer it, I'm assuming that he is running the iPhone version on the iPad. Considering he stated in a post that it looks great on the iPhone..

Even if you run a lower rez iPhone App on a higher rez "Retina Display" iPad, it will still look like crap and probably look worse.

OP, you do realize that the graphics of X-Plane has nothing to do with the iPad and more to do with the developers making a ****** app.

Go download Rage HD and gtfo. Obvious Troll.

Additionally, I think it's lame that even though I have a at&t iPhone I have to pay for an additional data plan for my iPad( hence the wifi)

Please don't tell me you're trying to blame Apple for that....

He's probably too embarrassed to answer. Bless him.

Sent from my iPad 2 ;)

I wonder why other tablet competitors don't come out with a higher res screen, or are they waiting for apple?

Because its not really needed? Seriously have you read the reviews on the fail boat that is the Sony Vaio Z and the 1080p display they put on that thing? By def that is a retina display, but many reviewers say that screen is an overkill/not needed. Same case here, except the iPad is not marred by outdated hardware and software that should have never been.

I don't think it's needed but it'll be great to have it. There are many times I have to zoom into see something in a PDF files because the line's simply not clear enough. With a higher resolution screen it'll almost be like reading a printed publication, with backlight, as it is with the iPhone/iPod Touch 4.

Having said all that, if Apple cannot have it it probably means the manufacturers simply cannot make enough screens at low enough price to make it practical. Apple probably gets to have dips on latest mass production LCDs first due to their sheer buying power.

good hardware should be supported by good hardware, else its a waste.

Just picked up a wifi 16gig ipad2. My biggest gripe is the screen resolution. This is PATHETIC. X-plane looks like some 8 bit nintendo game. It's just really sad, I'm surprised apple didn't the screen on the 2. It's UNACCEPTABLE.
Its a good browser and if it had a better screen and maybe a gig of ram and came WITH the smart cover(I though it did) I could see dropping over $500 dollars for this thing. It's going back.

Yes, its unacceptable. Because you are the authority on what is acceptable in screen resolution the world over.

I'm also guessing you have never actually played an 8-bit nintendo game based on comparison.

I'm surprised apple didn't the screen on the 2.

Well at least he used punctuation.

Anyone who compares an iPad to an 8 bit nintendo probably never played an 8 bit nintendo.

The moral of the story is, try before you buy and go home happy.

There won't be any other tablet out there that'll have a better screen until next year (or late this year). I've got nearly all of the Tegra-2 ones, and the screens are a mixed bag of specs with the occasional IPS and the common LCD-TFT.

Most come with 1gb of system RAM though. I'll agree Apple could have done better there.

Try the Samsung Tab 7.7.

Why, Samsung supports Wind'ohs, which is pure bad, for both phone and P*, plus most of their products are poorly made compared to the real Apple computers. Shoot and fickey ladders.
