My first post from a brand new iPad2 that followed me home this afternoon. It would've been more prudent to wait, but I was tired of waiting!

The older I get, the less the "latest and greatest" syndrome affects me. These things are really nice indeed.

That's awesome starjack, how does the screen look, nice?

Thanks! I'm quite pleased with the screen. It's kind of a catch-22 though, because now I'm already thinking of which cover to get to avoid scratching it.

Wait...no doubt

No doubt about it, wait for the iPad 3. I'm in your situation and Im waiting to get my first iPad when the 3 comes out. It's almost a FACT that the new iPad will have a retina display but even if 1 of the other rumors are true, the iPad 3 will be much better than the iPad 2 & if you get the 2 now then you'll regret it later. So just wait for it like I am. I bet we'll both say it was worth the wait

Again....?!

How many 'should i wait for the iPad 3'? posts will we see before it actually gets here....?

Basicly .. If you keep waiting for The next Big ting - you'll miss out on the good stuff thats allready here....

No one wants to get f*&ked over when they buy ipad 2 now and two months later, apple announces a new one.

Not everyone has god damn 500 bucks laying around under their bad or out of their ass to spend on every single yearly based apple products.

If you are an impatient person, just buy the ipad 2 now and when the new one comes out, trade it in for half of original price. You still get screwed over, but you only have to pay remaining half when you buy the new one.

Half?

iPad 1s are still going for more than half.

I just got one as well

I used to think the ipad was pointless but now after using it some, it is MUCH MUCH more easy to tote along than my mb and I prefer browing on it moreso

Pleasantly surprised

I got the 16gig wifi and have been debating if I should get the 32 but I have used only 2.5 gigs on it now after my mad rush of apps and not sure if I would ever need 32. Plus when you have a box account that has 50 gig free....

I just got my 4 kids wifi iPad 2's for Christmas and got a 3G 5th one for me and the wife to use.

We didn't open the 5th one and took it back. I decided a few months wait wouldn't kill me/us and to hold off and get us an iPad3 in a few months when they come out.....

I'm not sure if I want to get the iPad 3 when it comes out as if I do, I'm going to want an iPad 2 to complete the collection (I'll then have 3 iPads which would be neat)

Perhaps the iPad 2 will drop in value when the 3 comes out.

I'm still fielding opinions from other folks, there's been valid arguments both ways) -
I'd really wait.

Have you seen the front page the last few days? Almost everyday there was a rumour about the third generation iPad... it isn't far off. Again, I personally would be disappointed to find out that my device would be out-dated only two months after I bought it... and I think most people feel the same.

But if I have an iPad 1 and 3... what's the point me owning the iPad 2 as well?

I too was waiting for the iPhone 5 and am waiting for the iPad 3. I stopped waiting last March for the iPhone and got a 4. Glad I did. That said, iPad 3 is a different story at this point. Wait.

IMO, you should just wait. If you buy now, you have just admitted that your earlier wait had been in vain. Plus, the next 2-3 months will pass, and before you know it, you will be the proud owner of a spanking new ipad3. :p

im waiting for the ipad 4, hopefully it comes out after the 3, just a few more months to wait but im paitient. will probably be thinner, lighter and have a better screen anyway so why not. im still using a typewriter

As many have said before me, just wait, you'll be very happy when the ipad 3/2S come out and you won't regret having waited. Hope this answers your question ;)

hahahahahahahaha

Depends if you can get a good deal on a iPad 2. I just got one refurbished for £320 (£79 cheaper than new) so was happy to buy now, however I do plan to get the iPad 3 anyway and give the 2 to the wife.

I'm sure in the US you must be able to get some decent bargains?

But then again, their is always the next new thing coming out, no sooner will the 3 be here then everybody will be going on about the 4.

Anyway, it's not definite as yet is it that the 3 will be out in the next month or so.
Yeah I know what you mean. If it's an iPad 2S then I'll wait until the 3 but no one knows for sure.

Buy an iPad 2 now, then sell it when the iPad 3 comes out. I only lost about $100 upgrading to an iPad 2, and that was after having one for over a year! Although considering the typical launch schedule that cost wouldn't be amortized over a long period. Always having the newest iPad, after accounting for the initial purchase, for less than $10 a month isn't too shabby. I do something similar with iPhones and MBPs. Craigslist is your friend!

How are you getting screwed over? I just bought a 2 knowing full well a new one will be out soon, but I want an iPad now. In 3 months if the 3 is worth it Ive got 2 options, sell it for 3 quarters of what I paid and put £100 towards an upgrade or give this one to my mum and buy the 3. If the 3 isn't worth the upgrade I'll get my mum a 2 for less than they cost now. If you can afford to throw away $500 on a toy I'd expect you can afford the extra to upgrade if you insist on having the most recent tech
