Hello 2020 🙄
No reason it couldn't launch alongside iOS 14 last year
I guess, better late than never
I predict next year the iPad Pro will feature M1X with 32 GB of ram to support interactive widgets and new wallpapers.
Honestly though, nothing adds up. It just makes no sense. I am lost for words.
Same. I am not a fan and I don't want it taking up space on my app trayI'll stay on iOS14 if we can't hide the app library.
This seems about right, I expect that there will also be a slowdown in their hardware roadmap coming up in the next year or two. If managed correctly the current pace could just be spaced out to keep things from seeming too stagnant.Apple's development probably got slowed way down because of the pandemic. Last year they were basically introducing what they had completed before remote work kicked in in March and April. Feels like this year is just releasing some of the features they held back last year from 14. The hardware probably was ready much sooner for the new iPads since they have to go through regulatory approval. I'm bummed as well but it's understandable.
Bruh look who’s in charge of the OS?! Need I say more? Incremental changes.Disappointing is an understatement.
The fact they spent actual time explaining how to add a widget to your iPad Home Screen, when they already spent time a year ago explaining the same exact process for an iPhone just proves how little they’ve done.
I’ve just updated, within the new Focus settings you can set to show/hide home screens based on your focus mode eg work, game etc!I did like the way they showed it with Home Screens that themselves have themes...work, games, etc. Treating each home page like a folder, with some big widgets and a few app icons.
Disappointing is an understatement.

Feels like they put the M1 in the IPad just because it’s an already developed soc. Why bother developing A14z or whatever and adjusting manufacturing if you already have smth powerful. And then you can turn on you marketing bla bla — profit! I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s the same situation with the memory chips - just take the same chips from mb air and save money!Wow! That was worth an M1 iPad…
Now that is pretty slick. I can schedule my home screen to only show work content during work hours, and only show personal content outside of work hours.I’ve just updated, within the new Focus settings you can set to show/hide home screens based on your focus mode eg work, game etc!
This is the wealthiest company in human history, a technology behemoth to boot, their pathetic update to iPad OS is totally unacceptable. Don't make excuses for their laziness, world-class (supposedly) designers and developers don't need to be in the same room with each other to make meaningful software advances. They had an entire year to do it and failed or simply chose not to for business reasons.Apple's development probably got slowed way down because of the pandemic. I get that. What I'm not clear about is whether you are limited to the one home screen, or can arrange widgets on the multiple screens that I have (swiping from right to left takes me to multiple screens before I get to App Library). Are those all considered home screens?Currently yes you can only utilize widgets via the 'Today View' on the iPad but in iPadOS 15 you will be able to add them to the home screen like you can with your iPhone
I don't know if Apple calls the extra screens "home screens" but yes, you can put widgets on various screens. Apple demonstrated this by having widgets spread across screens dedicated to entertainment or other categories of apps/widgets. Note that the "Today" view is eliminated in iPad OS 15 and that widgets can only be arranged according to a grid that starts at the top left, as before. You can't have a row of Widgets along the left edge for example and a blank desktop, you'd have to fill the screen, top left to right, with apps in order to place the widgets in particular locations.I get that. Thanks. That's thorough and helpful!I don't know if Apple calls the extra screens "home screens" but yes, you can put widgets on various screens.
