I have a JB 1.1.2 - I currently have my finger on the update button but am wondering wether to restore to unbroken 1.1.2 and then upgrade.

Any thoughts??

So is there an exact list of new features from apple anywhere?

I am curious what was all included in the update.
I see the maps update and the multi SMS, and the icons, but is that all?

You can check the Apple/iPhone website. There's a video that you can watch.

Downloaded the update and tested the new maps localization feature. I found out that it uses the wi-fi network, if available, to get my location. I figured this out because it pinpointed me quickly and accurately, but to my old address from a year ago. When I turned off wi-fi, it then got my real location, but the accuracy was way down.

How does it get location information from the wi-fi network?

This is the closest I've been able to find from apple so far:

http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2008/01/15iphone.html

Everything else is listed in tab one of Mac Rumors...other then bug/secruity patches.

I know you want more but can't find the rest....yet.

Updated and works good. The only issue I've seen is that iTunes now nolonger shows my phone #, it has n/a

Not a big deal, tho. :)

errrr new update totally messed up my iphone i installed it no probs all good working fine left work was in cab and had no reception so turned phone off and back on again then all i got was the screen you get when you first get it saying connect to itunes. If i connect it tomorrow to the computer with the sync data on will it sort it out?

Snapper07: I had the same problem. yes, you just need to connect and it re-authorizes the phone. Took me about 2 seconds once I found a computer that was outside of the firewall at work.

Another good? side effect of the update. At work to get on wifi, I usually have to go to a webpage (1.1.1.1 I think is the Ip it directs to) and log in with my network login. Well now, I dont have to do it. I know they have not changed the network settings. It just stays alive on the iPhone now. Kind of nice so I dont have to relog in when I have been away for 10 minutes. Still cant check e-mail as they have those ports blocked but everything else works.

thanks does it have to be the main computer the iphone is synced to?

no not at all. It just needs to be able to connect to Apple. It says apple store so if you can connect to the apple store with iTunes, plug it in.

thanks again i get my phone back sweet!:D

plugged it in all working fine any ideas why it did it?

After my first restart it did it. I was in 1.1.3 fine and than rebooted it and it did it. After I fixed it I rebooted again and it didn't do it again. If looks like it was a one time thing.

It can't even find my location. But it couldn't even find my home address when I typed it in before the update.

I'm wondering the same thing... part of me soo wants to update, but the other part says, he doesn't want to lose his apps.

no way am I upgrading... i know where i am and have a gps anyway. what i (still) do not have is a to-do list, some games, and all the crap on my JB 1.1.2. as far as the multi-SMS i set up my friends phone #s as emails and just use the mail app for texting multiple people, and use a 3rd party app to push gmail in quick for replies... anyone else staying put?
