That’s a surprise. Well done Apple.

However I’m glad The usual snark about Apple renewing the CR membership has been posted. Hopefully it’s out of the way.

Despite not having 3D Touch (unfortunately), these are great devices. I upgraded from the iPhone XS Max to the iPhone 11 Pro Max and I am loving the additional battery life (not having to use a battery case) and the ultra wide angle lens. Night mode is also very impressive. Well done Apple!

They did a proper S upgrade for the Max this year. They put in a much bigger battery, much better cameras, and great display. It's everything anyone would care about it in a phone, particularly spec nerds like me.

If Apple does what they always do, then 2020 will be when they do the redesign that wows the general public, but will slack in a simple spec somewhere that will make the device not age as nicely as an S phone. Most people won't mind because its new and shiny, but deep down I know I wouldn't be able to accept it.

Until now apple had just the performance. Now it has the battery life and the cameras
Good job apple
The battery life is pretty impressive. I normally charge the phone at night, which seems sometimes silly since it often still has around 80% left. Another observation is that the Pro Max does not get as warm as the Xs Max.

I also look forward to Deep Fusion to see even more details in the already good images.

Yes,that heat is thanks to the new heat disipate system

I didn't think this thing would be that good... But it is
Design I like a lot, cameras are incredible.
I don't like any of Apple's Notebooks or Desktop's, but the iPhone is still the leader

I upgraded my XR to an 11 Pro Max, & couldn't be happier !

Almost pulled the trigger on the base 11, then almost pulled the trigger on the 11 Pro.

Read the DisplayMate review, & that convinced me to opt for the 11 Pro Max.

BTW, the Nikkei speculated that the 2019 iPhone manufacturing increase was due to an increase in demand.

I do NOT see it that way !

To me, it's simply Apple trying to get as many of the 2019 iPhone units as possible into its Sales Channel BEFORE Dec 15th, when the 15% iPhone Tariff goes into affect.

Units need to clear customs & NOT be in a warehouse (at the time of sale), to circumvent the 15% iPhone Tariff.

Very specifically, I believe Apple has recently figured-out how to place an additional ~8M iPhone units into its Sales Channel across the U.S.
You posted this earlier too and it was speculation then too.

Nikkei has never been right about anything, so don't believe the 10% increase either.

When the earnings come out, come back and we'll talk about the results.

This is just more proof people love their iPhones.

People still take CR seriously? It’s favorable for Apple this time around but they’re (CR) still worthless.

Why do you say that? Seems pretty similar to last years, aside from the ultra wide camera, which I like.

Because battery life is seemingly endless, camera is incredible, borderline magic in low light. But especially because the whole gadget feels coherent and fast. Everything just flies. In my opinion, this is the best balance of technology Apple has ever achieved.

Didn't CR just withdraw their recommendation for the XS and XS Max because of their "too fragile" glass backs? They must have drunk the Kool-Aid about more durable glass.

What about SAR? Consumer Report don't care? How high is it? How related with SAR of concurrent products?

For a “boring” update with no “new” design and an “ugly” rear camera, the iP11s appear to be getting a large number of very positive reviews, more than any previous iPhone.

Funny.
