Where did everyone go? This is the perfect forum to discuss your new phone, show off pictures, and how you had to wait in mortal agony part of the day for your phone to be delivered.

I'm still lurking in here.

Even though I restored from an iTunes encrypted backup, there were still a few items that I had setup: Bluetooth devices needed to be paired; accounts verified; Apple Pay authorizations.

I am surprised I didn't need to redo FaceID. I did the head scan during the initial setup, which is before restoring. I always thought that data got erased when doing a restore. I didn't need to train "Hey Siri" to recognize my voice either.

It's also great that I didn't need to unpair my Apple Watch from the previous iPhone. The watch buzzed me and asked if I wanted to pair it with the new iPhone. Took a few minutes, but the watch didn't need to be reset like before.

It is a little heavier than my XS Max.

It's only day 2 but I'm liking it.

So.... Sept 27-Oct 1 folks, anyone got a tracking yet? I don't really remember how does it work for those with non-release date delivery. Are they also shipped straight from CN, or would it be from somewhere in the states?

Yes, I have tracking. Mine is supposed to be here Thursday 9/26.

Yes as others posted us 9/27 - 10/1 group has shipped, last was clearing customs but as usual looking at tracking it may be through and who knows, once Alaska and Louisville scans show we will know real date, right now UPS says 26th.

do have a question has any one on the iPhone upgrade program having issues trading in their 10/10s with the camera glass cracked? Asking for a friend. 😉

You know. I forgot that you could migrate everything from one phone to the other now. I did a restore from icloud backup. Oh well lol.

I think iCloud restore, over WiFi, versus phone to phone would’ve been faster honestly. I will say, it DID work good though. A few apps I had to log back into and re-enter CCV for cards in Apple Pay

I noticed that using the iCloud backup for my wife did not bring her keychain, but when I did phone to phone, my keychain carried over.

May just need to give it time to index as the message says. Be best to keep it on WiFi and connected to power overnight.

Well i do not recall China Customs not working on weekends. Bigger problem was holidays. I recall approval on weekend. Also they are (from central US where I am) 13 hours ahead in next day. So worse case scenario if you are correct they will be Monday morning tomorrow evening my time and I would expect movement, best case they have moved and we will see significant movement in next few hours.

I took mine in for a genius appt and they told me I would have to repair it then, or pay for the repair when I turned it in. The charge was $99 (plus tax) through Apple Care. This was several weeks ago and I went ahead and paid for the "repair", which was a replacement of the phone.

With my 512 being about 3/4 full and many apps with accounts, I should have waited till I got the Pro Max so I wouldn't have to go through the iCloud restore twice in a month! I did learn a lot the first time which saved me a lot of time the second time. :😁:

Part of why I went ahead and got the replacement is that I intend to pay it off and sell it instead of sending it back. But I should have waited to replace it until after I got the new one.

Sorry guys, I can't get this iPhone 11 Pro. Looks so terrible. And even name is so stupid for it. Only Pro I can call for the moment Samsung Galaxy Note 10. And honestly Note 10 looks so damn beautiful.

since you decided to post a stupid message in this thread I’ll post a reply to you for no other reason than to do it. My quota of stupid posts to reply to is 0 this month so thanks for adding to it .

I’m glad you like your note 10 but some of us care about things that work, some care about their privacy and some just don’t like Samsung’s childish UI and stupid bubble/water sounds.

i personally would turn on one of my lumias running windows phone before I went back to android and I had every nexus since the Samsung galaxy nexus to the pixel 1. Google doesn’t care about your privacy and you pay the price. I know people love to say “same feature set but cheaper” but that’s ********. “You” pay for it with your data. I would rather not, so paying an extra $100 for a device (pixel 3xl = $999, XS Max = $1099) that doesn’t sell me out is perfectly fine with me and I’m sure with others in this thread but I’m not speaking for anyone but myself.

also the whole “stupid name” comment is dumb. Who cares what the name is? Before you know it Samsung is going to say pro or something like it and it’ll all of a sudden be fine right? Just like when they said (this is paraphrased) “our customers want the headphone jack and we will listen to our customers” and now it’s gone for absolutely no reason at all. There has been no actual benefit that came from removing the headphone for Samsung at all.

I hope you realize there’s no point in wasting time or energy commenting what you did and same goes for me but as I said I have a quota to uphold and I’m on public transit so I have time to kill

I'm curious if the Keychain is turned on in iCloud on her new phone. We were having some wonky wifi issues with my wife's new 11 so I backed it up again and the erased and iCloud backup restored it again. I was going through settings and saw Keychain turned off on the restored phone, flipped the switch to turn it back on and the Keychain populated within seconds.

Besides chrome being a complete POS when it comes to battery and ram usage, what do you do that requires 32gbs but your ok with doing on a 13” screen?

the reason I ask is because I know people that need 32gbs but the work they doing also requires a big screen or multiple screens. I have asked if they would carry a super powerful 13” and dock it when needed and they said yes but if they needed to do something quickly on their laptop without more screens, 13” would be useless.

Development on multi-container applications... While I'm mostly work in a terminal window (vim), I do work with other dev environments. I can see from a desktop I use, that I could get away with 24GB (if that was an option), but I can safely avoid swap file usage with 32GB.

Very impressed with battery life! I started this stopwatch as soon as I unplugged my iPhone this morning. I have been using it A LOT! Browsing the internet, playing videos on YouTube, taking lots of pictures, full brightness, I used my AirPods several times and I also played music n my car for about 2 hours straight and I still got 3% left on my battery! I love my iPhone 11 Pro Max!

Hey now - some of us HAVE the phone and can’t use because it was damaged before we could even power it on . That’s the real torture, having it, being able to touch it and I CAN’T USE IT.
