Okay cool. I may have it held at the UPS facility.
That’s what I do because I can get it that morning. They don’t deliver in my area until mid afternoon so I get it first thing. But this year I work on release day so won’t be able to go get it until after.

I thought you are able to pre-sign for delivery? Or if not, can you have it re-routed to another address??
I heard many variations on how to do this. Here's what I successfully did once...

As soon as you get the tracking number, call UPS on their 800 number (not a local retail outlet). Ask that they route it to your closest Customer Center (CC).

That's that I did and was able to pick it up first thing on the morning of the release date, on my way to the office.

Note you can change the wording, for example, I added the word “my” in the given phrase to make more personal.
I changed mine to what I'm used to with Alexa...

"Where's my stuff?"

:D

My order (64GB, Midnight Green, TMobile) status, which had been saying delivery by Sept 23 (even though I ordered at 5:01am), now simply states: "Arrives " with NO date. Hmmm. I hope it will change to the 20th

Interesting, I've got exactly the same thing. Mine was also showing Sept 23, now just says Arrives too. 256 Pro Max SG 256 AT&T.

Not strange at all. The launch day deliver ones are already here in the US. They will leave a hub (UPS or FedEx) the day before delivery and be delivered on launch day.

The other ones are being shipped from the manufactured location and have to arrive in the US, so they need extra travel time.
I don't think that's the case. It seems phone purchased from Apple always ship directly from China. I know when I've bought from AT&T, those phones were already in the US.

I haven't received my email order confirmation for my midnight green 11 pro 256GB. I ordered at 5am Pacific, got Sept 20th delivery. I have an order number from a PDF I saved of the order confirmation from apple.com, and my credit card has been charged. I was asked to sign in to my iCloud account before I purchased, but I don't think that should have made any difference. Has anyone else experienced this? Overall I guess I'm not too concerned because my card was charged. Hmmm...
Why dont you go to apple.com and click on the shopping bag icon, top far right, click on your orders and then sign in with your iCloud account. At least then you’ll see the order and will be reassured.

I just checked UPS and have a scheduled delivery on the 20th from Apple! It is currently in China, it weighs 0.60 KGS so I’m not sure if it’s my watch or phone. But hey at least there is movement!

Mine is still processing, but found this at my door step which I completely forgot I ordered. And my saddle brown Apple leather case is on time for tomorrow for fedex.

If I have ups hold my shipment , would I be able to pick it up Friday morning?

Depends on your local Customer Center. For instance my local customer center is only open for package pickup from 5pm till 8:30 pm. Check the hours of your local customer center on the UPS website.

If you hold at the closest UPS Customer Center on your list of alternate options, yes, it will be there in the morning for you to pick it up, as it’s where the phone would be Thursday night to be placed on your local truck the next day. The only caveat is that Customer Centers sometimes have weird hours. If you redirect to a normal UPS store, it may end up being delayed a day (I haven’t seen this happen, but YMMV)

Ok I’ll bite how is that better than getting it delivered to your door in you jammies??

You don’t have to take the whole day off of work to wait for delivery. You don’t have to watch the door all day waiting for the delivery truck and risk not getting to the door in the 2 second interval when the driver knocks and sprints back to his truck with your device. Even if you leave a signed authorization on your door, it’s at the driver’s discretion whether to leave the package. Also, they’ve been known to mark you as “delivery attempted” when they didn’t even stop, and they take the box back to the hub for redelivery on Monday. With an early pick up at the Apple Store, you have all day to play with it rather than getting it late in the day.

I’m picking mine up at the UPS hub when the doors open then head to work. I’ve done this since the 6 Plus, and it’s been easy in and out. I’ve never seen more than 10 people there on launch day for pickups, and we’re all there for the same thing (except one guy who got a Gibson guitar, and I was a bit jealous).

You want UPS to hold it at the Customer Center where your iPhone would come to before being put on a truck for delivery. Telling them to hold it at some arbitrary UPS store will add a day or more of delay.

I have the same .6KG package from Apple in China and being reported by UPS. It is my watch not my iPhone.
