Does anyone know if the AT&T Next 24 month (upgrade in 1 year) option is actually going to be available through Apple website?

was wondering same thing ... I don't remember clearly what happened last year on apple site ... I **think that it asks when you actually proceed through the order ... but I just don't remember

For someone not on your cell phone plan, correct?
You can only setup a IUP for a line on your At&t account, say your wife, child, etc, with the Apple App.

I can go through and pre-order 2, one for me and one for my wife, or just upgrade my wife's line solo, without issue.

All of this pre-pre-ordering stuff is through the Apple Store App

It's literally the first question it asks.

wrong.

that is for trading in a phone you OWN... which is why the price is lower with trade in. this has nothing to do with trade in program with at&t next... which is usually asked when it asks if you are upgrading or adding a line.

No, it's a number ON my plan, but it doesn't give me the option to choose the number on my place, it only chooses the device im using.

You’re absolutely right. Don’t know what I was thinking.

I dunno. You should ask in the Apple order thread.

I didn’t upgrade last year but the AT&T site worked great for preordering the X for release day delivery. In fact if I remember correctly their site was active for a few minutes before Apple’s app started working. So I’ll be going that route again this year. Pro Max in green all the way.

Last time I attempted to use AT&T for pre-ordering my iPhone X it was a disaster! I pre-ordered it the hour they opened pre-orders up, waited over 6 weeks with no shipping info, canceled the pre-order and walked into an Apple store and got my phone. This time I am going with the Apple iPhone Upgrade Program and bypassing AT&T all together.

Sorry bruh, if you didn't get it ordered within the first 20-30 min or so of the X Pre-order, you got pushed back to Dec-Jan.

I can't stress enough to get a browser page on the AT&T countdown page as early as possible. Turn off your computers hibernate/sleep mode and just let it sit. I set mine this morning.

Though I don't think it will be as big of an issue this year with the tepid response this year's crop has garnered.

I get it, but I remember I had an original delivery date for the day of release, it kept getting pushed back and back.
Just doesn't make sense for me to pre-order with AT&T anymore and deal with that (happened again with my wife's XS last year) when I can do it just as easy with Apple directly and have it the day of release.

I am genuinely wanting to know. What is the benefit of ordering your iPhone through AT&T's website versus ordering it through Apples? The options offered are the same?

Is there any advantage to doing this vs apple’s program or just buying it outright from apple?
I think when it doubt, Apple's is better, but there are definitely some good reasons to buy through AT&T (for example, some FAN accounts give benefits on accessories and things like that)

Looking for clarification. I have AT&T service and am going to preorder the 11 pro Friday. I switched to AT&T earlier this year from a local regional carrier. When I did this I kept my previous iPhone X and AT&T just mailed me a SIM card. I’ll be paying for the iPhone in full on Apples site.

What is the difference between selecting the AT&T version where the phone comes activated and the sim free version I have to activate later?

If I get the sim free version I would just need to swap out my existing AT&T SIM card?

Wording on Apple’s website seems to indicate both options would come “unlocked” since the phone is being paid for in full at the time of purchase.

The last few years while I was with our local regional carrier I had to pre-order and pick up direct with the carrier, so the process was a little different. Now that I’m on AT&T I can go back to actually pre-ordering right from Apple.

I chatted live with an AT&T rep today and asked what my bill would be to upgrade from an iPhone X to the 11Pro—and my bill will actually decrease by $9! So, this is a no brainer for me.

Gonna to bypass the Apple store this year. Content with my xs max 256gb I paid full price last year.

But Sams club USA has $200 gift card promo on all iPhone modes 11/11pro/max

So I will get (2) iPhone 11 128gb for $750 each for my wife (black widow of phones she’s broken or water damaged 9 iPhone generations) and for my 9 year old son who’s been begging for iPhone. He has iPad Pro 10.5 and iPad Air 3 (I am techie )

So 2 iPhone 11 128gb $750 x 2 equals $1500.
$200 x 2 gift cards. $700 att credit for bogo new line for my son (cancelling lte iPad date $20/line)

So my net will be $1500-700 credits (spread over 24 months) minus $400 gift cards.

So essentially $400 for (2) brand new iPhone 11 128gb!

I am lost with the ATT next plan. In the past I was able to use the ATT next 12 month thing. I would go on the app at midnight and it said upgrade I would click that and send my old iPhone in and just keep doing that year after year. Now it looks like I have to pay around 500 just to upgrade. Did something change? It looks like a better option just to go back to apples leasing thing and upgrade each year. What do you think?

I bought my Xr last year on the Next every year plan. Right now on Apple App I see this option to upgrade and stay on the 24 month version. I hoping they don’t tack on the $5 fee. If you’re already in the next every year, do you get to stay on it?

likely not. Once you do the upgrade you will select which installment plan you want it to go on. The 2 choices will be the traditional 24 month Next plan or the new one that is a $5 a month charge. It’s an easy way for Apple to make a quick $60 bucks a year on everyone because most people, myself included, will do the extra $5 just to get the new iPhone every year.
