I wish they would make iPhone's in the colors of the old iPod nano 4th gen lineup in addition to the standard Space Grey, Silver, and Gold colors.
I don't see any reason why they can't sell custom colors.

Match my girlfriend's nail polish and she'll pay extra.

Apple's pricing (at least in Aus) has come to the point that even I cannot continue to defend it. The ridiculous decision to go with an ultra-wide camera versus the telephoto in the iPhone 11 will ensure I do not upgrade; I have no intention of paying more for my phone than for my Mac laptop!

Apple leadership, please get a grip. At this rate, the next iPhone will need to be called the iPhone 12 'Rich'!
Well, your decision isn't going to make an impact on Apple. It's either roll with them at increasing high price or get left out.

I’m an iPhone X owner and I knew there probably wouldn’t be a compelling reason to upgrade to the iPhone XS line given the price and feature set of the iPhone X.

The X was put out there for iPhone fanatics to see what future iPhone lines would be like. I actually bought mine thinking I’d sell it to make a profit and that I’d hate the lack of a headphone jack, that I’d hate Face ID over Touch ID and that I’d hate the notch that came with it. I also thought I wouldn’t be impressed by the edge-to-edge (minus the notch) display nor the difference between an OLED display and an LCD display.

Oh man was I an idiot. When my iPhone X arrived I unboxed it and tested it fully believing I’d be selling it on eBay shortly thereafter. As I used the device I discovered how much I really liked it. All of my negative preconceived notions were quickly dispelled.

My only complaint is that I used to be the kind of user who came home from work and picked up my iPad for the larger display. I bought the 9.7” iPad Pro prior to the iPhone X coming out. That proved to be a huge mistake. I’ve found that the screen on the iPhone X is big enough that I don’t feel compelled to use my iPad unless I’m doing a lot of typing and want to use the Smart Keyboard.

I was hoping the iPhone 11 line would provide a compelling reason to upgrade but it hasn’t. I can see why someone heavily into photography and/or videography might want to upgrade but for users like me, who think the quality of the images and videos taken on their iPhone X are more than enough, there really isn’t a compelling reason to upgrade.

I’ve said it for a while and I think it continues to ring true. We’ve reached peak smart phone. When the iPhone was first released it seemed like there was a compelling reason to upgrade on a one or two year cycle. I owned the original, the 3Gs, the 5, the 5s and the 6s. The 7 and 8 felt like place holders for the X/XS/11 lines. If the 2020 line does include Face ID and Touch ID under the screen and can read a fingerprint from any part of the display that may be compelling enough to look into an upgrade but outside of that I can’t think of anything else that might make me want to buy another iPhone. I think that’s why Apple is really making the push into services. Smart phones have gone from a 1 to 2 year upgrade cycle to a 3 to 4 year upgrade cycle joining the land of desktops, laptops and tablets. They know they need something to make up for that lost revenue stream.

Apple have reached the point of stupidity. In Oz an iPhone 11 Pro is A$2,349.00. Just plain ludicrous.

I absolutely think that the extra camera, better display, and increase in battery life are worth paying more for. I just don't think they are worth a $300 premium. I think Apple has exceeded the price/value proposition with the iPhone 11. However, this year I think they are just taxing those of us who want the top iPhone with about $150 more than the value we are getting. If the iPhone Pro started at $849 and the Pro Max at $949, it would be totally worth it. I'm going to buy the Pro Max because I'm on the Apple iPhone Upgrade Program so I'll maintain the same monthly payment, but this is the first year when I really think I am paying too much for the phone.

Ive decided to keep my XS for another year, i also realized that i really dont need a pro phone, i dont give two effs about photography and hardly ever use the camera outside taking a pic of a item to remember what it looks like at the store. The regular iphone will suffice for my needs.

That being said, i want my next phone to be a Max. Ive never had one and I’ve decided, even before the new phones were unveiled, thats what I’m gonna upgrade to. I dont want a 6.1, i want the biggest one. Maybe ill force myself to use the camera, to make the price seem justifiable.

Totally. All these features should be contained in one single phone: the iPhone 11, and it should be $699 with 128 GB base storage.

Thats way too much for the majority of peoples needs for a smartphone. Its a phone, not a ipad or mac. I have never filled the entire 64gb of any of my iPhones and i take a lot of screen/video captures. The price wouldnt be $699 if 128 was the base. Thats why they make other configurations and cloud storage.

One thing I noticed is that the face ID on the Pro says it works at different angles, yet the 11 doesn't say that.

Could that be a difference?
No, same module.

...enjoyed my 1st yr w/the Max. (1st iPhone, too !) liked the seamless operation btwn it and my MacPro. yeah, no 5G this yr but eh, not really gonna lose sleep over it. trading Max in ($600 beans ain't too shabby !) for this yrs Pro Max. can't wait to try out the new wide-angle cam/vid sys and A13 Bionic speedster. 256GB's nuff storage for my needs. so there ya go, whooptydo. :apple:

That really has nothing to do with apple, thank your govt/regulations for that. Its not just for apple, but pretty much every company doing business with other countries.

The 11 is quite large in size as the base model. Also $699 to $999 is a big price gap.
Would be nice to see a Max version of the base model, making the base model a small phone.

12: 5.4" - $699
12 Max: 6.2" - $799
12 Pro: 5.8" - $999
12 Pro Max: 6.6" - $1099

Yeah, no. Don’t try and complicate the lineup, apple is never going to waste money to appease a few people on a product size that the entire industry has moved away from.

I'm going to upgrade when the iPhone sports a built-in spectrometer, with full iOS support for detailed analysis of the object being sampled. Then we'll finally have the ability to identify what crap they're putting into various food products, supplements, drugs, beverages, smokes, soil, water, etc., etc. Makes for great dinner party fun!!

I am in the PRO camp. I like the better screen, camera, battery life.

Sound is also better in the PRO.

I will upgrade my Xs to the 11 PRO. This time I‘ll maximize.

64 GB on a “pro” iPhone in 2019 is offensive. And a 5400 rpm hard drive on a $1300 iMac in 2019 should be considered a crime against humanity.
The iMac drive is a Fusion drive, so that 5400 rpm spindle is front-ended with ssd. Replacing the drive with a 7200 rpm spindle would be virtually unnoticeable to a huge majority of buyers, so the extra cost would be a complete waste. Not to mention the faster spindle produces more heat within the chassis. You might guess I disagree that you've identified a crime against humanity. :)

A true PROfit for Apple.

For sure, dogs are your thing you can always stick to animals :)

128GB should be standard on the Pro.
Agree. 128GB & 512GB should be the 2 Pro options.

I just want to say Thank You to the authors at MacRumors by finally hearing those of us that are not Americans and mentioning "in the United States" after pricing. Without that, it always felt like a slap in the face to every country outside the US.

While the iPhone 11 may feel iterative, it's got tons of tech beyond what the XR has that consumers will benefit from. Overall, it's an upgrade without a price increase.

I think we are just seeing the start of a new phase at Apple, now that their new campus is done, and there's a shift in management in the design department. I just hope that they don't lose sight of User Experience principles that always set Macs and iPhones apart from the competition.
What new phase?

Isn't the standard iPhone rumored to get OLED next year? Probably will be the same display from the XS and not the newer one that has better contrast ratio and HDR brightness. $10 says the iPhone Pro will feature a Pro Motion display next year too, and the standard one won't, and the iPhone Pro will also get Apple Pencil support. I think over time Apple will flesh out the "Pro" (whatever that means on a phone) features on the iPhone Pro to further distinguish it, while still keeping the regular iPhone as a great device for most users.
Regarding 1st point => Yes, all new iPhone models are rumoured to get OLED screens next year & 3 sizes (5.42”, 6.1”, 6.7”)

Regarding last point, I agree. I wouldn’t be surprised if next year’s new iPhone lineup is the following:

iPhone 12 (5.42” / 6.1”)
iPhone 12 Pro (6.7”)
