I sort of expected the keynote to be a snooze fest and that's precisely what it was.

My iPhone 7 is getting upgraded to a OnePlus 7 Pro. Nothing lasts forever I guess. I had good 10 years on the Apple ecosystem.

Instead, the Iphone 11 is a good value in a very expensive lineup. It does have just the right amount of everything. It looks like the people at Apple put a lot of thought into the fairest way to differentiate the 3 models.
That's precisely how they want you to think. You want to sell product A at a high price, so you invent product B which is not much better but is priced much higher, so everyone buys product A thinking they got a good deal.

$700-800 used to get you to the flagship smartphone just a little over 2 years ago. Now suddenly it's "good value".

No USB C? Still has the notch? Mmmm looks like I am keeping my iphone 6s for a little while longer.
I'm with you buddy. I think iOS13 will be the final OS for the 6S, so next year is looking good for me.

And as tired as it is, I use the headphone jack in my car! I am hoping for USB-C so I get get a reliable dongle so I can charge and listen to podcasts.

We need all google employees working on the apple rumor sites for iPhone review message boards to submit your time cards and stats by the end of the day this Friday to your team leads. Also, please don’t use the same user names across different websites. Be sure to also use the full name of the Google Pixel 3a when promoting the phone.
Thanks again for the work.

I just want to say Thank You to the authors at MacRumors by finally hearing those of us that are not Americans and mentioning "in the United States" after pricing. Without that, it always felt like a slap in the face to every country outside the US.

While the iPhone 11 may feel iterative, it's got tons of tech beyond what the XR has that consumers will benefit from. Overall, it's an upgrade without a price increase.

I think we are just seeing the start of a new phase at Apple, now that their new campus is done, and there's a shift in management in the design department. I just hope that they don't lose sight of User Experience principles that always set Macs and iPhones apart from the competition.

That's a good start, now if they also include sizes and dates in the metric system, it would be perfect.:)

Curiously, are iPhone Pro display really miniature of stand-less XDR display?

Jokes aside, maybe Apple use Pro moniker on iPhone to promote their professional stand-less XDR display. iPhone “Promotion” lol

New "Apple Store Down" copy is great. This is from the app.

Do you guys really expect Apple to reinvent the smartphone in 1 year time? Trust me, there is nothing invented in the last year that could make the 11 so much more worth getting than the XR. Some features yes, different design yes, but not an out of this world upgrade.

64 GB at this point is just offensive. How long are they going to milk this upselling strategy

Actually thats a lot of storage. Some people need extra space sure, but for most people what will you do with 64 GB? If you load a ton of games and save endless tv show seasons then yes.

I I just hope that they don't lose sight of User Experience principles that always set Macs and iPhones apart from the competition.

That ship has sailed. I find myself looking up "hot to do X..." using Apple products a lot more often, and their designs from one an app is not only ugly but unintuitive. Thats very different when they released iTunes and iWeb. It actually made things easier.

After a year with the iPhone XS on the iPhone Upgrade Programme I'm going to hand the phone back in and get a iPhone 11. As well as being £5 more a month, I just don't think an 11 Pro is worth it. I still wince when I think about how much I'm paying for the XS - £64 a month. Handing back the XS will mean my monthly payments drop to £44 a month and I still get a marginally better phone than the XS. Sure the screen won't be as bright or as sharp but I won't notice that enough to make it a problem in using the phone.

My criteria (from another thread):

The one thing that might get me to upgrade (from a 7 Plus) this fall if is the new camera is as good as (or better than) the Huawei P30. The camera is the only feature I do care about, as the phone has gradually been my main (and most of the time only) travelling camera.

So, can the new 11 (pro) beat this? Huawei P30: https://www.dxomark.com/huawei-p30-pro-camera-review/

5x optical and excellent low light performance are (high) on my wish list. (Thought not high enough to change to Android.)

For comparison, here's the score for my old 7 plus: https://www.dxomark.com/apple-iphone-7-plus-camera-review-tested-new-dxomark-mobile-protocol/

PS! I know that Samsung has - at least - one phone with better camera score than the P30, but that is a phablet, IMO.

The pro's 4x zoom** and focus on low light were exactly the things I were looking for to upgrade, and - since the regular 11 doesn't have the tele - the decision is quite easy.

I'll be ready at apple.com/no in about 3 and a half hours. :)

**Close enough ;)

Not gonna lie, the reason I want the Pro instead (the regular actually makes more sense price and feature wise) is 80% down to that matt-frosted glass finish and 20% to the screen. ok maybe 75-25.

I don't give much care about the tyrophobic cameras and its features, I just want OLED and a frosted glass finish lol. Maybe I should sandblast my own if I do get the regular 11. I do have access to the machine at work anyways.

JK holding out to iPhone2020.

Yep, we're really paying our post-referendum exchange rate here. I miss 1.60 to the Dollar, I really do.

Paying the price for misinforming the public about the EU for decades and asking for greedy discounts and sell those as a win to the public.
I have to fly now to Asia to get decent prices for my Apple stuff.
[doublepost=1568365533][/doublepost]Because all OLED screens are equal exactly like any lcd screen out there. Ludicrous to be paying $300 for a 50inch lcd tv whilst Samsung will charge you $3000 for the same sized lcd tv. it’s all the same tech crazy these companies ...

No 5G, no buy.
The Verge: Apple’s iPhone 11 doesn't have 5G because 5G isn’t ready for the iPhone

"Without fail, Apple always trumpets customer satisfaction data for its last iPhone(s) when preparing to announce a new one. CEO Tim Cook regularly claims that the joy people get from their Apple-branded slab of metal and glass is unheard of in the industry. 5G in its current state would turn that upside-down. An iPhone 5G with unpredictable, touch-and-go 5G coverage over the next year would be a frustrating experience for buyers and send Apple’s beloved customer sat numbers downward. People would be just as likely to associate some of the negativity from 5G growing pains with the device as they would with their carrier."

Isn't the standard iPhone rumored to get OLED next year? Probably will be the same display from the XS and not the newer one that has better contrast ratio and HDR brightness. $10 says the iPhone Pro will feature a Pro Motion display next year too, and the standard one won't, and the iPhone Pro will also get Apple Pencil support. I think over time Apple will flesh out the "Pro" (whatever that means on a phone) features on the iPhone Pro to further distinguish it, while still keeping the regular iPhone as a great device for most users.

The iPhone Pro screen is just the Note10 screen with a notch. So whatever Samsung has made for the S11/Note11 will be the iPhone 12 Pro screen

Even with the pound to dollar exchange rate as it is, the Pro 64GB is $70 more expensive in the UK than it is in the US, and that’s with taxes removed.

Without VAT, the price in the UK is £874.17 which is $1078.46 compared to the US price of $999. I’m not sure how much of the UK price is import duty but it still seems pricey.

Also, the UK is (for now) part of Europe which means mandatory 2 year warranty as opposed to 1 year in the US, so a bit different there.

Am I the only one bothered by the fact that for the smallest phone you have to get the 11pro 256gb which is a total overkill for me and costs over 400 dollar (in my country at least) more than the 11, 128gb. Next year hopefully finally usb-c is coming and it makes all 11 outdated again so even less reason to spend so much money on the "pro". 11 would be good step up for me (currently 7) if it wasn't so ****ing big. Even the 11pro is too big, dreaming of a 11 version with better screen, less beezels, around 5'' display, usb-c, that's all, can't be that ****ing hard but second year in a row, hopefully 2020 smaller phones are coming with usb-c.

Just in case you’re not aware of the 1987 consumer protection act in the UK, this extends your warranty to 2 years (and even more if the flaw is clearly caused by a manufacturing flaw).

I have used this successfully with Apple on a few occasions (such as when I had dust on my supposedly hermetically sealed camera sensor).

Hope it helps!

Oh that’s great to know! Thanks!

Couple of points here to agree with,

iPhone Pro should have:

  1. 128gb base storage
  2. USB-C like their other iDevice that's pro - the iPad pro. Why not be able to transfer video via USBC direct from the phone? (would it kill the lucrative upgrade of storage cash cow??)
  3. 120hz PRO-motion display like their other Pro iDevice
Why call it Pro when it doesn't even line up with their other PRO iDevice?

CAN'T INNOVATE ANYMORE MY ASS

I have the XS and am using iUP to get the iPhone 11. Though there is a difference in OLED in watching movies, I don’t notice it anywhere else. The XR was a fine phone as I am sure the 11 will be.
