So presumably the ordering glitches are because this is the first time preorders have opened at different times throughout the world (and therefore exactly at the same time). Usually preorders run with timezones and there isn't so much of an overload

Seems a reasonable suggestion. But beware Assumption Alley! It could have been affected by so many people being available to order at the same moment. (Where, for example, in other times so many might have been physically at work.) Or the sheer volume. Would be interesting to know the volumes.

Preorders have always been at the same absolute time.

I was ready at 8:00am EDT, order went through and I got an email at 8:04am EDT.

Iphone 12pro blue T-mobile

Delivery: 11/03-11/06

I am somewhat disappointed.

Exact same thing happened to me too. Unbelievable. Some people ordered 2 hours after me and have 10/23 delivery date. I am going to call Apple and find out why. Will keep you posted.

From an Apple specialist I talked to:

If it really is set up for when orders are received, then our orders SHOULD ship out sooner rather than later. Not sure why their system doesn’t just properly reflect that from the beginning though...

Not that it helps but I recently had to go with AT&T for rural copper line internet. There was no mention whatsoever of an installation fee. Even triple checked my screenshots of the web as I set up the order. After the technician was here and set up the modem/router I got a higher than expected bill. Yes, a $99 fee for installation.

I went round and round with customer service about this charge when it was supposed to be free. Basically told that was too bad and additionally if I cancelled there would be an early termination fee. And again, nowhere in my paperwork is there any wording that mentions a minimum contract period or termination fee.

As soon as I can get rural internet over cellular I am dumping AT&T and never, ever buying services from them again. I had cell with them years ago and left over poor customer service and now I remember why. I agree, a $30 activation fee is pure greed. Especially if you do it yourself over the web.
oh - I have one even better - My spectrum modem died - they sent me a new one and charged me $10 to install it --- myself - excuse me Spectrum?? - your crappy devise died and you charge me to do your work for you ??? so I had to waste my time calling them to get it removed.
