Earlier today, Chinese leaker "Kang" shared allegedly accurate information for the products set to be announced at the upcoming Apple event on October 13, including details on the full iPhone 12 lineup.

iPhone-12-Dummy-Feature.jpg

According to the leaker's information, which was later modified with corrections for product availability timeframes, the 5.4-inch "iPhone 12 Mini" will be available to preorder on November 6 or 7, with a launch date of November 13 or 14.

Meanwhile, the 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max will allegedly be available to preorder on November 13 or 14, with a launch date of November 20 or 21.

Bloomberg believes that Apple will stagger the iPhone launches in 2020, while DigiTimes has previously suggested the two 6.1-inch iPhone 12 models could come out first in October, with the 6.7 and 5.4-inch models to follow. Leaker Jon Prosser today has also claimed DigiTimes was correct earlier in the year.

It's worth noting that Apple traditionally doesn't open iPhone pre-orders or launch products at weekends, and some of the initial dates in the two-day timeframes provided by Kang – November 7, November 14, and November 21 – fall on Saturdays. Depending on the time of day when preorders kick off, a Friday in the U.S. could already be Saturday in some parts of the world, although the actual launches typically occur on Fridays no matter the location.

Assuming therefore that Kang's dates are ballpark accurate, preorders for the "iPhone 12 mini" will commence on Friday, November 6 and the device will launch on Friday, November 13 – the same day that pre-orders for the iPhone 12 Pro Max would be expected to commence. Apple's largest ever handset would then launch one week later on Friday, November 20.

With likewise adjustments, pre-orders for the 6.1-inch iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro models could begin on October 16, the Friday immediately following Apple's "Hi, Speed" event, and the first iPhone 12 shipments and an official launch could happen on Friday, October 23.

Of course, nothing is certain, but we'll know for sure when the iPhone 12 lineup is announced at Apple's event on Tuesday, October 13 at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time.

Mini will be the highest selling iPhone of the year. With this delay and the lack of included accessories with came with it’s predecessor you are going to have a bloodbath with the techie crowd & media pundits who seek controversy and ”clicks”.

This nation is so polarized...the masses will flock to either the Left (biggest) or Right (smallest) device, leaving the Independents in the middle. I’m very interested to see how the media evolves around this fascinating clash, the likes we haven’t seen since 2016, with the SE, 6S & 6S+.

I firmly believe (I will die on this mountain), that Apple made a gigantic (pun intended) decision to destroy the Jobs’ vision of the iPhone & force its customers against their will to adopt the 6S & 6S+. Because the SE was not released alongside them in the Fall, and was released the following Spring, it was never given equal opportunity to fight those two phablets. We should of seen all 4 devices launched on the same day to let the markets actually decide which size is preferred by plurality of the masses.

The Max & Mini will be the winners, mark my word. & Apple better respond accordingly in 2021 and bring Pro level 120 HZ to a mini sized device. Because that is what the people need.

what a mess but yet again the iPad Air 4 does not even have a launch date and that was announced forever ago

I assume all of the excitement for that iPad has already disappeared and it's not even out yet. At least let us preorder shortly after the event. Personally I like a day or two to figure out exactly what variation of a product I want (storage, color) so giving everybody time to figure out what to preorder is good.

I was hoping to order my iPhone 12 next week... guess I'll update my 2016 iPhone SE to iOS14 just to fill that hole.

exactly. that's how they lost me as a customer for the iPad. I am one of those fools who usually get blinded by all the great marketing but now that I actually had the time to think about it and no pre-order date in sight, I made the reasonable decision NOT to buy it. My iPad Air 2 and iPad Pro 10.5 will last me another year

Ah so this is Apple’s plan to extract extra money from me this year. Release more models, and put the one I initially decided on a month past the more expensive one I was also considering. I then buy the 12 Pro and later this year try out a 12 Mini and make the switch.

I’m pretty torn between Pro and Mini, but this could shift me back towards the pro. I guess it depends on a few things - Mini having a U1 chip (I can’t see apple dropping this on the cheaper model given airtags coming out...but SE and iPad Pro 2020 don’t), storage upgrade pricing (I need 128GB and the mini will start at 64.) and whether Apple actually shows off something cool to use the LiDAR camera for. Telephoto I really don’t care about unless they greatly increase the aperture, the current 11 tele is rarely used unless it is a bright sunny day.

If you don't care about LiDAR and Telephoto, why do you want the Pro 6.1" ? Even if you add $50 for 128Gb option it will be cheaper !
I would skip the pro line and focus on deciding regular 6.1" or mini.

Apple should drop the numerical designation next year and simplify the lineup naming to:

iPhone 12 Pro > iPhone Pro
iPhone 12 Pro Max > iPhone Pro Max
iPhone 12 > iPhone Air
iPhone 12 Mini > iPhone Air Mini
iPhone SE > iPhone

iPad already follows this naming scheme and is much tidier:
iPad (entry level)
iPad Air (mid range)
iPad Pro (pro range)

Doesn't Apple traditionally have pre-orders begin shortly after announcing their products? I don't know why they'd announce products then tell people to wait a month before ordering them. The idea is to build excitement at the Keynote so that customers click "buy" right after that.

I'm already thinking about getting SE to save some money, if this is true about Mini, I might as well actually get it....

They know that the 12 & 12 Pro are not what the masses want. It’s the 12 Mini & 12 Pro Max. So by holding them back it will dilute the number of iPhone 12 & 12 Pro users. Mini won’t have more than 256GB storage, because Apple doesn’t want to allow the smallest device to have as much storage as the bigger ones. I guarantee you if they made a 1TB iPhone 12 mini that would sell like hot cakes beyond their marketing team’s wildest dreams.

LiDAR is not going where it needs to be because Apple is limiting it to a small segment of its users. Until they bring it to the iPad Air & iPhone lineups, developers will not devote resources to feed a small minority, but instead cater to the large majority and when 2022 hits the large majority of iPad & iPhone purchasers in 2021 won’t even have this feature...

I am close to this as well - second hand nearly new iPhone SE 2020 can be found in UK for around £250 which is less or more like $250 USA

I do not need OLED which is burning - do not need FaceID which VERY easily DIE when dropped (please see youtube video) - the only disadvantage in iPhone SE is that MASSIVE "frame" = smaller screen.

I still wonder about....... camera SE vs 12 - and I do not need STUPID wide angle camera - I got iPhone 11 and my older iPhone Xr do BETTER panorama photos than wideangle :/

Really... you're not buying it at all.

People have been waiting for a small modern iPhone for years. And it's finally coming.

But since it's not available by some arbitrary date.... you're just done with it. Completely.

Ok... :p

And I am one of those people who are you saying - BUT - there is tempting iPhone SE used for about 1/3 of iPhone 12 mini price around £250 vs about £750 sorry - £500 is a lot of money - too big difference - IF SE would cost £600 vs 12 mini £750 that would be no brainer - BUT £500 difference gives you to think

You're changing your story... ;)

Earlier you said "no Mini on October 16... no buy..." which I found odd. Who cares when you can buy it? Just be glad that the Mini is finally coming.

But now you're talking about the price difference between the 12 mini and the cheaper SE... which is a completely different argument.

Anyway... I hope you find what you're looking for... on October 16 or beyond... :p

I don't think you are alone in your calculation and I think Apple realizes this especially right now.

Whether it is £500 or US$500, it is still a lot of money to many people. I think the same holds true for the Apple Watch when comparing the SE to the 6.

I must admit that if I didn't depend on my phone so much for working remotely right now I would be considering the iPhone SE as well. I'm just so use to my iPhone 8 plus (which I find too small to be comfortable viewing for many things) that I'm planning on the pre-ordering the basic iPhone 12 6.1 as soon as pre-orders open, whenever that is.

Now you could ask why not just stay with the iPhone 8 plus if you want to save money. But I really want eSIM so I can have my work and personal numbers on one phone.
