I’m considering the 12 Mini because apart from a few photos, emails, messages & calls I don’t really need the big performance.

the problem is, the wait is too long and I’m a fanboy!

I also prefer the aluminium gold, which is only on 12 Pro 😰

The 12 mini will be the most prestigious iPhone. This is the phone to get if you want status among friends and strangers alike.

1. It’s brand new. It’s hot. Much better than a 11, or lowly X or iphone 8
2. It’s small. In fact its more status than a normal 12 or the pro models, because its smaller. It screams “I actually LIVE life instead of being glued to my phone like you nerds”
3. You can use it with one hand. Gives you more efficiency and time to do other tasks. More time = more money, freedom, happiness.

I’m getting the 12 mini blue, 256GB.

I always laugh when I see posts like this. If you’re worried about what other people think of anything you wear or buy, you are a really insecure person. I don’t care what people think. I buy what I want. It’s that simple. Nothing is prestigious to me. Prestige only matters to insecure people.

This is where you are wrong my friend. Who is going to buy this massive phone? Only tech enthusaists. Probably 99% of them in the tech industry. People that are stuck to their phones all day. Nerds.

Now those of us that are doing exciting things - bodybuilding, racing fast cars, skiing, surfing, boxing, titans of business, living life in the fast lane ...we don't have time for a big phone nor the worry of carrying such a massive thing around.

Its not about the price...its about who's using the product.

Essentially the iPhone 12 mini is like sitting at the cool kids table.

Who are you to call people nerds? I’m either going to buy the iPhone 12 Pro Max or I’m not upgrading. I’m undecided. I am not on my phone all day either. Not by a long shot. I like the bigger screen and the better camera. It’s that simple.

I doubt you’re doing exciting things, because you’re obviously an insecure person who cares what others think - cares so much you have to make blanket judgements about people. That’s lame.

I’m a dude that never leaves home without a bag, and I’m thinking of buying a tote (or two) that’s really a lady tote, and I don’t give a **** what anyone has to say about it. Life is too short.

Who was that poster a few years ago that insisted that Apple would never again release a large model or an S model after the iPhone X because the iPhone X was the most high end phone in the most prestigious size and that larger phones were seen as childish or something?

This a joke right? Bodybuilding? Racing fast cars? Titans of Business? I’m over here crying.

Having looked at the the real life size of the new Mini, although it's smaller than the 12 and 12 Pro I still think your going to see a lot of people complaining that it's not as small as the original SE and that it's "too tall" or "too narrow".

I was strongly considering the Mini, but once I bumped the storage up it made more sense to at least order the 12 Pro and see how I get on with it, I can order the Mini when it's on pre-order and then compare the two and return the one I don't like.

Your premise is flawed. You say "I actually LIVE life instead of being glued to my phone like you nerds”. Then you really wouldn't care about a phone at all and you wouldn't be getting one as soon as it is released. You'd still be rocking' a 6s. Now that would scream prestige among your fake friends and strangers that you "LIVE" your life and are not glued to your phone.
I think you just convinced me to stick with my OG SE1. Maybe I'll add a notch using a black marker so that it remains recognizable as an iPhone.

I might get one - Mini, now that you mention all this. Not for the status, but more or less to use for the gym. I'll buy the cheaper base model along with the 12 Pro Max. I use a 5S for the gym and a 6 Plus for personal and work. Its time to upgrade both. The 6 Plus is too big to cary around the gym so I need a smaller device.

Is there really any need to pigeon hole people because of their choice of phone size. I'm judging no-one because of the size of iPhone they have. Just get the one YOU want and be happy with it SMFH 🤦‍♂️
And yet you make it all about the product.
Imagine having an idea and that idea was this...
Bodybuilding is not exciting FYI.

Here we go. if you felt the need to get so defensive about my post...perhaps look in the mirror.

This was meant as a PSA. Many young guns come on these forums wanting some advice on what to buy. I am showing them the path. The path is rejecting an addiction to smart phones and social media. Yes we want speed and good coverage in our phones to do business deals, and style because we look good. But we live active lives and dont want a phablet in our pockets.

Hahaaaa, great thread. Also quite aggressive and strongly worded I somehow agree with some stuff. At least almost no really phone addicted person on earth would buy the iPhone 12 mini as screen is way to small for them. Watching videos, doing social media, editing photos and videos for instagram etc. would be much harder on the Mini.

As an iPhone 11 owner I will 100% buy the iPhone 12 Mini and I haven't been so excited about an iPhone for many years. It is small but can do most of the stuff efficient. Also I don't have any social media account besides YT, and only because of channel subscription. I don't watch videos on my phone either besides maybe a short YT video sometimes.

Plus it has almost all the same specs like the Pro series in such a small phone, lightweight too. That is some magic engineering. Thanks Apple.

So I agree with some of that to 100%. And it just looks cool with it's big screen in such a small housing. I am very excited and can't wait to hold it in my hands. Maybe a little phone addicted hahaaaaa...

You are someone who gets it my friend. Enjoy your 12 mini. Think of it like a Porsche 911. Fast, stylish and agile. Don’t forget to live life in the fast lane

This thread is so laughable and comments even funnier. Those who have a big screen iPhone don’t live life? Wait what? I’m currently 38 father of 3 and 1 step son. Running a very successful father & son steel distribution company in Miami. When I was younger I wanted the smaller screen iPhone. My past iPhone line up: 4S/5/5S...6 plus but hated size so went to a 6. Then 6S. Then 7. Went X. 10. XS max. Then 11 pro Max (my current device). I will be pre-ordering 12 pro Max. So as you can see I hated big screen phones. I really did. The X was a huge difference for me but no home button and smaller bezels prepared me for bigger phones. I run 3 emails on my iPhone. Running a 80,000 SQ warehouse with over 30 employees. 4 delivery drivers etc. I require and want a bigger screen iPhone for more content to view (less scrolling) Emails. Web. Etc. When I’m at home on sofa or bed I prefer to grab my phone over iPad or iMac. My kids usually use iPad the most as they aren’t at the appropriate age yet to own a phone. Guess what? I live life too. I travel. Rent cabins up north in snow weather to spend 1 week with kids. I go to Costa Rica and live on the beach for days. In the end only you can decide what device works for you. My wife has a SE2. That thing is tiny. She hates big screen iPhones. The weight. The size. When we in bed and she’s shopping for clothes, kids stuff, grocery pick up order, she always does it on my phone. That’s the only time she enjoys my phone. More content to see. Less scrolling. I respect those who have a small iPhone just like how I respect those who have big phones. It’s all preferences and options. We should be glad apple gives us consumers many size options today. Anyways live life people. Enjoy you’re families. Enjoy your ultimate device.

Are you sure you are 38? The way this was written makes me think you’re 70. Try spacing.

Well, Warren Buffet had a flip phone until 2020 when he finally switched to an iPhone (after 3 years of nagging from Tim Apple). He mostly uses his new phone to make calls :s

Maybe there is some truth to this thread 🤣

You get it my friend

You’re a man and dont leave the house without a purse? Sure then go ahead and get the max! I doubt you’re worried about becoming a titan of business...

So buy two of them so you can put one in each back pocket, so that when you sit, weight is displaced more evenly and less chance to bend.
Now... 2 of the same color orrrrrrr... 🤔

Smart. While all the nerds are texting in the gym, you will be getting swole af.

TBQH most of my friends who have big phones are not tech enthusiasts. Many of them don't have computers or iPads. They like the larger screen so they can do more stuff with it. Most of my engineering friends have old iPhones and old Andriod phones and they prefer the smaller size.

I'm just saying you don't know what you're talking about.

If someone were to opt for the 12 mini it wouldn’t mean that they’re broke lol.

Just as if someone opted for the iPhone SE it wouldn’t mean they’re broke.

I have an iPhone SE and iPhone 11 along with a XS Max that I haven’t used in a while and probably need to just sale, but I choose to use the SE 2020 more often than any of them.

Something about the form factor continues todraw me back to the SE. I’m debating on a 12 mini or possibly a 12 Pro, but I’m not sure yet.

The 12 mini is certainly not the most prestigious but I would call it the most intriguing and interesting of the iPhone 12 lineup.

With all of that said I still feel as though the regular 6.1” iPhone12 will end up being the best seller out of this entire lineup.
How many phones do you have? Yikes are you sure you dont just have a phone fetish?

Really, now? You are showing them the path towards rejecting addiction to smartphones by stating that the most prestigious iPhone to buy is the 12 mini?

I could be grossly mistaken with the concept of waning people off smartphone addiction, but I suppose the path towards waning/ rejecting addiction to smartphones would entail looking inward and consciously focusing on activities that do not involve a smartphone, let alone the latest iPhone, right? Or maybe just telling that the best device to buy is the device that suits and works for individual requirements within their individual means, right? It could be a second-hand iPhone Xs or a new Xr or the new SE 2020 or if their needs warrant it, the iPhone 12/ 12 mini/ 12 Pro/ 12 Pro Max, no?
