TBQH most of my friends who have big phones are not tech enthusiasts. Many of them don't have computers or iPads. They like the larger screen so they can do more stuff with it. Most of my engineering friends have old iPhones and old Andriod phones and they prefer the smaller size.

I'm just saying you don't know what you're talking about.

I know exactly what I’m talking about. How many NFL players and ballers do you hang with? Trust me this phone will be hot with all the best NFL WIDE RECIEVERS, MMA FIGHTERS, bodybuilders and formula 1 drivers. I can’t even imagine admitting I had engineering friends with android phones lol

Really, now? You are showing them the path towards rejecting addiction to smartphones by stating that the most prestigious iPhone to buy is the 12 mini?

I could be grossly mistaken with the concept of waning people off smartphone addiction, but I suppose the path towards waning/ rejecting addiction to smartphones would entail looking inward and consciously focusing on activities that do not involve a smartphone, let alone the latest iPhone, right? Or maybe just telling that the best device to buy is the device that suits and works for individual requirements within their individual means, right? It could be a second-hand iPhone Xs or a new Xr or the new SE 2020 or if their needs warrant it, the iPhone 12/ 12 mini/ 12 Pro/ 12 Pro Max, no?

Oh.

Yes actually. Follow me towards a path of not being smartphone addicted.
1. Get the iPhone 12 mini
2. You now have a fast device to get your business done efficiently when the time comes
3. Want to watch a movie? Social media? Eh pain in the ass, Phone not big enough. Now I have to get iPad or MacBook, but that’s too much trouble so I’ll just skip if
4. Wow more time, guess I’ll just read more books, get jacked lifting weights, or become a Titan of business. Or pick up a cool hobby like MMA or street racing
5. Wow I’m super successful, guess that phone addiction was holding me back. Thanks @nepats81

you guys seriously make my head spin. I’m trying to be helpful to all the young bucks avoid a lifetime of mark zuckerberg and jack dorsey slavery and all you guys do is **** on me and then say “get whatever you wanna get”

Listen I get what you’re saying and I agree but can’t you just get a Pro iPhone as a young tech photo buck, who don’t need no man (read: DSLR), and still ignore all the distracting entertainment and social media anyway? And use your pro phone to become a titan of the photo industry?

The mini can’t even do proraw :(

Anyone who goes around saying they don’t need anything unprovoked... needs that very thing.

Uhh no I really don’t need a DSLR. I really really don’t need or want one. I don’t need it.

you’re saying I’m mistaken and actually need it? Why??? But I don’t need it. I will never use “real” cameras for my photography.

Pretty sure this is meant to be a playful post, but I was just thinking there really have only been two instances when I cared what phone someone else was using. The first was shortly after college when it was important for all of our friends to have BlackBerries so we could use BBM. The second was about three years ago at a bachelor party where there was one guy turning the group text green instead of blue...

imagine degrading yourself so low to use an android and be the 1 guy to cause a group chat to turn green!

self love is a thing folks. Take care of your health, become as good looking as possible, stack cash.

then every fall upgrade to the latest iPhone mini

No you dont. I don't care what NFL players buy. I don't get my tech advice from meathead celebs like NFL, MMA Fighters and bodybuilders. I myself have muscles and good looks that most bodybuilders, athletes and models would be jealous of.

I'm an engineer of course I have engineering friends. I also have good looking friends many are engineers or designers or workout at the gym with me. I don't have just one type of friend. Sorry I'm not as shallow as you. *shrug*

I really don't think you should be buying an iPhone for prestige. It's an extension of the individual... we've all got one. And they're as flawed in their functioning as a human body. They don't last forever.

Personally I want a cheap flip phone. One you snap in half after a call so the government can't track you. That always looked really cool in the movies. I bet true titans of business are still using flip phones.

The 12 mini will be the most prestigious iPhone. This is the phone to get if you want status among friends and strangers alike.

...

In fact its more status than a normal 12 or the pro models, because its smaller. It screams “I actually LIVE life instead of being glued to my phone like you nerds”

A 1990s fiip-phone screams 'I actually LIVE life instead of being glued to my phone', not a brand new 2020 phone.

It's good to see such a small phone like the 12 mini in an ocean full of +6 inches. Which company too can boast about having a premium design and (mostly) hardware in such a small form factor in 2020? Only time will tell how popular it will be and if there really is a demand for small phones like it.

you say you’re not shallow... yet you need everyone on this forum to know how handsome you are? Lol. Your username is Adonis... lolololol.

if you were talented enough to be a professional athlete... why wouldn’t you do that to get paid millions vs being a designer making 1/25th of what a baller makes.

all of this is irrelevant. My point stands .

1. acquire the iPhone 12 mini
2. Live life to the fullest
3. Drop the smart phone addiction
4. Dominate life.

Nope. Why iPhone 12 mini???

Any phone will do in that case.

You don’t need an iPhone 12 mini to live life to the full.

i think the mini is a great phone... especially for people which are not the super tech enthusiasts..
when i use my phone for doing phone calls, messaging, emails and some social media... then you get a great phone with super cameras for doning some shots.. and it is also no so big, so you can keep it in your pocket - whatever you are doing.
you get a great phone - with updates for min 4 years - with a small size, display and camera from the top sector.. i think a lot of people will buy it because they wait for such a phone for years...

I am running my business from a MacBook Air 2017 and an iPhone 8 along with a Xiaomi Mi A2 (Android!). All of these devices are yet to make me eager to replace any of them.

Also, the path towards smartphone deaddiction does not begin with buying an iPhone 12 mini. It begins with looking inwards, separating your wants and desires from your needs, and acting on your needs foremost and wants and desires thereafter, if they are still hanging around.

Even an iPhone 7 is plenty fast for what it is. My old man, 30 short of a century, uses his iPhone 7 for creating posts for social media, reading, typing out his thoughts and creating poems and soliloquies, staying in touch with whoever he wants to, and play a game or two of Sudoku. I am in front of my computer most of the time already (for work), and I use the phone when I want to hit the bed and watch something, stay in touch with whoever I want to, read, type, and listen to music. For that use, had I bought a 6s, I would be okay with it today till the time software would support it.

For my use case, who does not need the newest phone all the time, I am okay with keeping a phone for as long as the software support exists or it breaks in a way that replacing it with a newer device makes more sense. My prestige vests in who I am and how I conduct myself and the difference I make in people's lives with my work and conduct, not in an iPhone 12 mini.

I refuse to let my prestige become so inane and banal to go stale every year and my having to refresh it with the newest iPhone, mini or max.

I’m not sure what I enjoy more, watching people get into it with an obvious troll or the troll itself. Just late last year this kid was talking about upgrading its 2013 MacBook to a 2019 at the same time it said it wouldn’t be caught dead without the latest and greatest (*clutches pearls*). And then goes out and allegedly buys an *Air* while asking how what to do with the mere 180 bucks it saved? While allegedly owning a Rolex and a BV wallet. Definitely some titans of industry mentality right there. But at least the kid is having its fun, I’ll give it that.

Someone also pointed out a thread pertaining to the prestige issue from last year as well. That thread is currently gracing Wasteland.

Actually they use the same phone Gordon Gekko used back in the day....

Nope. Blackberry IS the go-to for Business!/s

I miss my scroll wheel BlackBerry.

Back in my old life at Goldman Sachs, prestige meant being high enough up the food chain to be issued a corporate BlackBerry. I was not in that rarified upper level that rated a BB, so I bought my own and used it with my personal account.
