Although that might not necessarily be the main use case it would be a gap on Apple's side if they didn't check it in the process of addressing the reported issue. That said, perhaps they did and it required additional work that either hasn't been done yet or involves more and they just wanted to get the fix out for the main use case out as soon as they could.
That is very true. There may have been people who reported such usage we weren’t aware of, even though I see it as fringe type usage.

I live in Poland and English is not my first language. We don't even have an Apple Store here. If there is anyone here who will report this problem directly to Apple, I will be grateful! 🙏🏻
You can report the problem online with the following link.

Reporting issues through Feedback Assistant would probably be even better:

You can only use that app if you are running beta.
You should be able to report using the web site regardless of what you are running. It's basically the same place where typical bug reporting that has essentially always been there goes.

Looks like the app can also be installed on non-beta versions now as well (via a profile):

I have a thin case on my 12 Mini. Lock screen often does not respond to a swipe up to open but opens easily with a tap. I don't see any difference in this behavior after the update.

Belkin screen protector, apple silicone case - fixed by update. Had this problem and thought it was just my failings until reading these posts, thanks!

Opened a case with Apple on advice here just in the very off chance it was harder issue and found it fixed later in the evening.

Now we just need a fix to eliminate black screen flickering, and every bug should be sorted out. I didn’t think I had the issue, but when testing in a dark room with a black background, picture or video, it shows. Not much, but it’s definitely there.

Those who don’t see it, still have the issue, as every iPhone 12 is having the issue. Some also with green tint, others only with flickering. Mine is the latter one.

Hey, im still thinking iOS 14.2.1 did not solve all the problems with the touchscreen. Look at the video. I think it can be problematic for example in gaming or just scrolling websites not touching the frame of the phone. What do you think? Im not copletely happy with the upgrade. Video:
I did not buy iphone mini, I am waiting for the problems to be resolved.

French: Je n'ai pas acheté l'iphone mini, j'attends que les problemes soit résolu.

I can confirm that C DM is correct: You can submit a Feedback Report using the web. I just did it for the continued lock screen issues I'm having with my iPhone 12 mini in a Quad Lock Case and Poncho cover. I added a video, which I would suggest to others if they are going to take this step.

Well I'm running beta iOS 14.3 and my issues still persist to the extent they have got worse, as we speak I am on the phone with Apple Support, while on the phone the line went dead on my end, Apple Support couldn't hear me. Rang me back the same issue, on the 3rd attempt, they got through after I pressed the screen numerous times to accept the call.
Advised them to add that to the list of issues, which the advisor agreed wasn't normal.

I think it is still software issue, in iOS 14.2.1 touchscreen works way Better but still not perfect. Have you installed IOS 14.2.1? (iOS 14.3 beta not solved the issue even partially)

I concur on the reports that say that this issue has NOT been fixed 100% w/ iOS 14.2.1 ❗. Just now, I took my 12 Mini of the charger, after which I tried to swipe up on the lock screen unsuccessfully. Tried many times, nothing happened. Then I placed my finger on top of the back camera while swiping and voila: I got the prompt to input the passcode. 😑 Great, so is this issue gonna be resolved or not? Does Apple know that some users still have issues after installing 14.2.1? 🤔

Solved: new phone arrived working, but also updated to 14.2.1 (so I don't know what the credit is due to),
now it works with case and tempered film
Thank you all for the support

Has anyone seen a lag or delay issue when opening and responding to text messages? I will start typing a response and nothing will show up on the screen for about a second or two and then all of a sudden the text will be there. Does not happen with every text, but seems to occur when I first open one up after a little while has passed. Just seemed to start recently.

Yes. It happens like 1/100 times.

Hey, I'm wanting to get a 12 Mini but am a bit wary with the ongoing touch issues being reported here. Do people think the unresponsiveness when not holding the phone happens for every 12 Mini?

This thread is obviously much quieter since 14.2.1 so either most people haven't realised because they only use their phone when holding it or maybe it is a specific device issue? In the video below there seem to be no touch issues even when not holding with 14.2.1 for instance.

I had all the screen issues described in this thread when I used my Mini with the case and screen protector. Without the case it worked fine.

THE UPDATE FIXED ALL MY SCREEN ISSUES.

It also fixed my battery life which is now great, just like a new phone should be.
