That is very true. There may have been people who reported such usage we weren’t aware of, even though I see it as fringe type usage.Although that might not necessarily be the main use case it would be a gap on Apple's side if they didn't check it in the process of addressing the reported issue. That said, perhaps they did and it required additional work that either hasn't been done yet or involves more and they just wanted to get the fix out for the main use case out as soon as they could.
