Same here. I bought it first then returned it. Got the 12 pro (same as the normal 12) and the battery is fantastic. This is what killed it. And I get it - it's chock full of technology like the 12, and it deserves to be priced higher than the SE. But ultimately the demand for a tiny iPhone wasn't as much as the loud minority made it seem, and the pricing put the nail in the coffin. The 12 is by no means an unmanageable size for most people, with an easier to see screen and much better battery life. The Mini needed to be priced lower to compensate for that.
PS - I loved the Mini when I had it... but I did ultimately change due to battery life. It wasn't bad, but with the 12 I never have to think about it, with the Mini I had to think about it daily.
In Australia there’s some really good deals for the mini now at about $899 ($300 off) from a lot of retailers.
When I was asking for a small phone from Apple - I didn’t want the budget version. I wanted the Lidar. Triple cameras. And great battery. It didn’t do any of these things. Great design and feel in hand but battery was barely end of day and I’m an average user (nothing like wife who murders batteries). Where the 12 I get end of day with 40% left almost.
If they do small we still want the special iPhone with all the gear - maybe I wouldn’t expect equal battery as the bigger phones but I want the other stuff.
