This is what killed it. And I get it - it's chock full of technology like the 12, and it deserves to be priced higher than the SE. But ultimately the demand for a tiny iPhone wasn't as much as the loud minority made it seem, and the pricing put the nail in the coffin. The 12 is by no means an unmanageable size for most people, with an easier to see screen and much better battery life. The Mini needed to be priced lower to compensate for that.

PS - I loved the Mini when I had it... but I did ultimately change due to battery life. It wasn't bad, but with the 12 I never have to think about it, with the Mini I had to think about it daily.
Same here. I bought it first then returned it. Got the 12 pro (same as the normal 12) and the battery is fantastic.
In Australia there’s some really good deals for the mini now at about $899 ($300 off) from a lot of retailers.
When I was asking for a small phone from Apple - I didn’t want the budget version. I wanted the Lidar. Triple cameras. And great battery. It didn’t do any of these things. Great design and feel in hand but battery was barely end of day and I’m an average user (nothing like wife who murders batteries). Where the 12 I get end of day with 40% left almost.
If they do small we still want the special iPhone with all the gear - maybe I wouldn’t expect equal battery as the bigger phones but I want the other stuff.

I am 6ft2 and seriously considering the iPhone 13 mini from my 12 pro. The 12 pro is just too heavy and unwieldy, seems like they didn't really use it when they made it. I also have an SE 2020 and a Pixel 4a and it's such a joy to hold those after a while with the 12 pro.

I just hope they can improve the battery life on the 13 mini, as I would hate to give that up. 3 things that would make the mini sell in droves (I think):
- Reduce price
- Put all 3 cameras in it
- Increase battery
I’d be happy with two out of three!

Just wait for the MacRumors' beloved 16-inch iPad Pro. That'll be a huge success.

I still don't think Apple got it quite right. Those that want the smaller phone also want the full functionality of the Pro's. The same cameras, screens, modems, etc need to be available across the board. People aren't happy sacrificing function to have a form factor that they're comfortable with.

Yep, I'll likely be going to the 12S/13 Mini when it comes available in the fall. I didn't buy the 12 Mini as there were already rumblings that the 13 would finally have Touch ID under the screen (and we all know how well that rumour panned out *sigh*) - we get it back when we get it back.

I'll just be one of those limping along with the Mini for as long as it's working well as I don't want a damn tablet in my pocket *ahem*. I mean iPhad. :D
