When did they stop publishing talk time estimates?

All the people suggesting this is obvious also need to factor in that smaller screen.

I currently have an 11 Pro and was really hoping to go with the 12 mini but am now torn. The 2 ounce weight saving (+ smaller size and cost) is amazing but I do want the 2x optical zoom (wish it had that instead of ultrawide) and sounds like LiDAR helps improve portraits.
They quit publishing it when it quit mattering. Video streaming is the most limiting factor. I can’t remember the last time I talked over 20hrs in a day.

No chance the 12 Pro Max is seeing the same battery life as the 11 Pro Max.
Where are all my peeps telling me for the past week that the 12 Pro Max battery would blow away the 11 Pro Max? Its being listed as lasting as long but at that considerably smaller size there is no way it will last as long.

People were begging for a smaller iPhone.

Welcome to battery physics... :)

I can't remember having see people asking for a smaller phone and bigger battery at the same time, maybe I'm not paying attention.

In any case, it has even better battery life than my iPhone XS from new, due to improvements in other areas. I think it's pretty spectacular, if I was looking for a new phone I'd pounce.

How about rates times for each phone on WiFi? Apple's website is silent on that and that's concerning.

The original iPhone SE was phenomenal. The iPod Touch 6G was a surprising dud — and, strikingly, it was, at that time, the only i-device that Apple did NOT give WiFi hours for!

No wonder. Turn on WiFi and the remaining battery time on the IPT 6 dropped like a rock into a pond. About as unsettling, too.

Let me clarify...

If people want a smaller iPhone... then they shouldn't be surprised that it will have a smaller battery.

Smaller phone = smaller body = smaller battery = shorter battery life

:p

Alright, point well taken on talk time. That said, I think I was thinking of previous phones that were rated according to internet usage by type (LTE, WiFi) - would be particularly interesting to see with 5G (but maybe that’s why they’re not sharing those numbers)

Ok I'm not really interested in this PR ********. Current 11 Pro Max owner with the Smart Battery Case. Is the 12 Pro Max battery going to last longer?

I mean, it's not like they had to make the phone as thin as they did. They could have made it the same thickness as the 11 and packed that extra space with some more battery.
Why would they? They need your $ and it's easier for them to just offer lower battery life to force you to buy a higher-end model. It's been Apple's strategy since the dawn of time.

Well 5G isn't exactly easy on battery life.

No I get that. But when the leaks came out for this phone there were people that flat out attacked me when I said that the battery life wouldn’t surpass the 11 Pro Max and claimed to know of some “secret algorithms” that Apple had that would allow the battery to surpass the iPhone 11 Pro Max.

Magically they have gone silent now.

My company is getting me a new phone for free, I could choose any of the models. Although the late availability, the cheaper price, the shorter battery life, the less-advanced camera system, I am still choosing the 5.4” model, the smaller physical size outweighs all of the other drawbacks!

iPhone 12 Mini is such a cool device. It feels very close to the phone many have been asking for. And it’s got nearly all of the features of the Pro models outside of SS and Telephoto lens/LiDAR. Looks to be a killer phone. I may go from my 11 Pro to that next year. Wonder what RAM is on the 12 models? Probably 4GB knowing Apple and the Pro models get 6GB.

I’m not worried about a little less battery life, it is still way better than I’m used to with my SE1. I’ve been waiting for a new iPhone to replace my SE for years, and finally here is a brilliant option. The only issue is the battery on my SE lasts for days because I barely use it. I work from home, socialise via Zoom, do just about everything else from home. My iMac and iPad get used loads, but a 12 Mini would get used about as much as my SE currently does. I look forward to being able to move about freely again, and being in a position where I can justify replacing my currently underused phone.

I think it’s good to give choice as long as people realise that smaller means less space for the battery. Leave it to the customer to decide whether the trade off was worth it.

This. For me, I’m jumping in on the Mini. The 12 is a hair wider than the 11/XS/X, and not sure the thinner case really makes it easier to hold. And the 11/XS/X has always been a bit too big for my liking.

Yes, shorter battery life than I could have had. But I was never really one to run down the battery in the first place.
