I have the same, iPhone 12 mini. Got it on the release date last year. 98%.
I know that batteries degrade overtime and that charging them would speed up this.

But my iPhone 8, which I bought in September 2017 has the same battery health (98%) according to iOS menu option.

I think, if the software displays this correctly, that a battery in 6 months degrades this much. There must be something wrong with it.
Mine is at 99%, your battery health is fine. I don't worry about it until the percentage drops below 80%. Also 2 percent from perfect : )
I now keep my battery between 40 and 80 percent.

I started by using the Apple Support app on the phone. They did a remote diagnostic on the phone and a few texts to and fro regarding about the issues that I'm expecting.

After all of that , they arranged a call back to my mobile number. They called and I explained to them that I was having issues with battery life with my device , mentioned that compared to my friends iPhone his one was at 100% vs my 91% battery health.

Also I mentioned that sometimes my iPhone gets very hot when charging. After confirming my address details , they arranged a replacement iPhone to be sent in advance and for me to send back the old one. All on pre paid UPS delivery. They are collecting the old one today at some point.
Gave this a go. CS ran the diagnostics tool and it came up with no issues. Pressed them further and they said to just restore and start the phone from new. Terrible advice. Time to draft an email to Mr Tim Apple.

That was the same nonsense I got from in store visit a few months ago "Battery is fine, you should do a restore"...which I was planning anyway.

I will try to contact them tomorrow about mine when I have more time. I'm not trying to get a new phone out of this by any means...a free battery replacement would be nice though, not sit around watching and hoping this drops below 80% before Fall.

That’s all I want too. Battery replaced, I’ll keep my phone. It’s $60 but it irks me that I already paid them $250 for apple care + which should cover a defective battery. Their hard and fast rule of it not dropping below 80% is ridiculous.

I had the same thing. I then logged off, started a new chat where I told them the battery health was not right and that my wife’s phone that actually gets used more than mine was showing a higher value and that the phone did not get me past mid afternoon from a full charge. Another diagnostic showed no issues but when I said that this isn’t what I expected from Apple products they said an express replacement would be with me in a few days. It arrived today. No cost, no hassle.

iPhone 12 Pro Max purchased at launch
mines now down to 95% its dropped from 98% to 95% in 2 weeks or so something isnt right here my 11 pro ma still had 100% after a yr. i do plan on getting the 13 pro or pro max this year so i dont know if i should try for a replacement or just wait .

Phone now shows "91%", Coconut and iMazing even lower.

Have to get some errands done this morning, then I'm coming home and contacting Apple Support, this is just getting stupid and honestly beyond unacceptable.

Did I really just have a 3% drop since yesterday!!? (4% according to Coconut) 😡
91% or 89% just shy of 6 months, Apple needs to really addressing there is a major problem with the batteries, Magsafe (maybe??), the phone itself...I don't know. Something is wrong with a batch of 12's

Good luck, let us know how did it go with calling Apple CS

I recently reported a that my battery reached 95% within a month from 98%. I checked today and it’s now 94%?! FFFFFFFFFFFF

Bruh my iPhone 12 has degraded faster than my iPhone 11 Pro and XS that I gave to my parents. I’m plumbing.

Launch day 12 pro, charged every night ( even I have 70% left) - 100% health
Don’t use fast charger.

Finally got my device replaced yesterday. Absolutely was not easy. After fighting with chat support, I convinced them to send me a replacement. I have an Apple Store half a mile from my house so I told them to arrange the replacement for in-store. When I get to the store, they completely change their position and say all they can do is replace the battery for $69. Tech called over a manager. They stood their ground. Showed them the chat. They finally agreed. Circumvented all the stops in their iPad to finally give me a new iPhone. Tech was super awesome and we chatted. His 12 Pro Max was down to 92%. The theory between all of them was that fast chargers and wireless charging is the culprit. He suggested using the old school 5W charger. Started with that last night.

Glad you got it replaced.

On fast charging; that initially worried me as well so I’ve only used the 5w wired charger on all of my iPhones. So far, my launch day 12 is still at 100% and my mini purchased 01/01/2021 is also still at 100%. Both have only been charged using the 5w slow charger overnight. There have been a handful of times that I’ve used my old Samsung wireless charger at my desk for convenience, but not for extended periods of time. I’ve since ditched that charger as well and have another 5w wired charger that I leave at work in case I need to charge my phone.

I disagree. I've been using the 15W Magsafe puck exclusively since launch day and still have perfect battery health after 122 cycles

Yeah of course nothing to substantiate it right now. The manager did mention that Apple published a support article on fast chargers and their impact on long-term battery life. There's also a bunch of non-Apple sanctioned articles about how the heat from wireless charging does degrade battery life. Regardless, I am going to be extra cautious this time and steer away. Good to hear though that it doesn't impact everyone.

CS ran the diagnostics tool and it came up with no issues

Glad you got the replacement, but yeah...what a headache. I have an Apple Store just down the street from me also and IF I got a replacement, I would have chose that same option, but I've dealt with some cool reps there at the store and some real rude arrogant ones. Another Apple store about 14 miles away, I've had nothing but great experiences at that location since my very first iPhone in 2007, also the iPhone 4.

Ugh, after setting up my phone with my iMac BT keyboard for the little chat - (I'm MUCH faster typing on real keyboard, then my phone...) . CS chat was utter garbage yesterday, same thing here "no issues, battery is optimal." Yet again, "restore the phone." No...it's like they are reading from a prepared script. I Don't know WHAT they are looking on their end at to tell me it's normal. I was firm, not going off on the rep, angry..just disappointed w/ that token "I am sorry for the convenience" reply. I was going to start a new chat, but I was too darn tired.

May try again today and press the issue more if I time and mental energy.

As for 3rd party MagSafe, no I steered clear from those, the no name brands on Amazon. I have an OEM MagSafe charger on my desk I use - and if I did get a replacement battery..(heck phone??) I won't be using that anymore, I also go old school Apple OEM wired in my car. Never had these problems with old school wired charing or even on my Belkin QI charger. So I would go with that.

I do not think Apple perfected the MagSafe for the phones...something in my gut says these are literally killing many - perhaps not all?- batteries in the 12's this year? All guessing...it's all random from these forum posts, REDDIT, Apple Communities, etc trying to troubleshoot on my own here. Pretty maddening and downright frustrating.

What I DO HOPE that these battery health-drain complaints are growing to Apple, maybe....just maybe they are now seeing a big trend of this flay & will actually do something to rectify the problem - FREE BATTERY REPLACEMENT for 12's under 90%?! That's a nice start but they would need to full address this now - 6 months in. Hopeful, but this may take a while... if they even address it. But I will keep pushing.

Mine is at 100%, launch day 12 pm
Those phones still at 100% after 6 months, obviously had higher than normal mAh in the battery to start with, due to manufacturing tolerances in the batteries. Some will come with slightly less than design spec, and will have dropped to below 100% by now
In essence, they are all dropping, it’s just from where!

In good news, my replacement shows a full charge capacity of 2921 mAh with a design capacity of 2815 mAh. That basically means I get to start at about 104%.

My iPhone 12 Pro Max is showing battery health of 90%, I've had it since launch day. I have never had an iPhone go below 98% battery health, and I've used and charged this phone the same as all my past phones. I'm not sure if it is just a battery issue or the whole phone, but the phone gets very warm constantly when charging on a regular wireless charging pad, short FaceTime calls, using Safari, etc, as well as battery percentage draining extremely fast. I'm debating whether or not to use the chat and try and get a free replacement battery or whole replacement phone if possible as some have said in this forum?

Something is definitely wrong with the battery. Launch day iPhone 12 Pro currently at 95% battery health and 63 cycles. It's mostly on the charger and never ran all the way down or even get hot. My old iPhone 7 Plus which is a launch day phone is at 94% with 677 cycles.
