Unless it was the other way around. Then it would be ‘the iPhone is way behind the competition’

And again and again and again each time new iterations come out. Atm, he iPhone is faster using half the resources. That’s it.
My iphone X struggled at times and takes too long some operations. 3GB was always a pinch. My 11 with 4GB does not exhibit slowness..

If Pro Max has stylus and didn't weigh 8 oz I'd feel better. I always keep both platforms as result. DeX is cool and gotten much better.

No one thought odd and off that the Note is stated as using a SD 856? Whereas it has 865+ which did improve on my S20. USF 3.1 helps. UI 3.1 is already in beta for the S22(?).

well most of the world don’t get a SD865+ they get an Exynos chip which is underpowered and battery heavy. If the 12 Pro Max was put up against the Exynos version is would blow it out of the water.

I don’t know how Samsung get away with using that chipset and charging the same money? Can you imagine the uproar if Apple released the 12 Pro Max in most of the world with the A12?

It’s like Samsung and their cameras. “I’ve got a 25 megapixel lens on my camera”. So does the $4.99 camera at dollar general.... number means jack. Love my iPhone 12 Pro

I'm sure the Samsung fans will get a hissy and find a way to defend the Note 20 Ultra crap. Beefier specs mean nothing. Real world performance matters. Same ole same ole. Just like Windows machines vs. Macs. Beefier specs in Windows machines has proven time after time that it didn't offer real world better performance than a "lesser spec'd" Mac.

I am glad Apple is giving the iPhone more RAM. Although my iPhone 8 Plus is okay but not great, I still have a little RAM anxiety when switching apps on my 6th gen iPad because the iPadOS13 drama is still a fresh memory (This webpage had to reload because a problem occurred).
Why haven't you upgraded to iPadOS 14.1 on your 6th generation iPad? I am asking this because I have already upgraded my 10.5" iPad Pro to iPadOS 14.1 earlier this week and I am currently having no issues with it so far.

I love my 12 Pro but what has the world come to when we need to save a few seconds when opening apps. People need to experience the world a little more and just enjoy life.
Good point, however those few seconds add up. It seems minimal but overtime it’s incredibly beneficial.

My iPhone X also opens apps instantly.. this isn't a test I care about. Thats like counting the bounces when you open a app on your dock as if it matters. When I tap an app, it opens and I get on with it.

I think you're greatly missing the point here.

Wow, that's a lot of apps to keep in memory. I don't know why people complain about iPhone RAM. This really seems plenty.

So what you're saying is "640K 6GB is more memory than anyone will ever need on a computer an iPhone" ;)

I like the Note, a LOT, but it cannot be denied what Apple has done in terms of chip/OS design and efficiency.

At this point, both of these devices are so fast (in normal use) that you just can't go wrong in your choice.

It's the other characteristics and features (OS choice, hardware design, screen size/resolution, storage, ecosystem, customization ability, etc) that will define who picks what device.

After being a very satisfied Samsung Galaxy Note user for ~5 years, I'm switching to iPhone and iPad soon, though.

My needs are simpler, and Apple is best at that.

the highly optimised chip is faster than the all-purpose one. who would've thought.

Can you explain how this quick opening/closing of apps in succession is relevant to performance? Is this something people do on their phone? Trying to understand why you feel this is not a pointless test.
Because it is indicative of real world performance. Less time spent waiting for your phone to be useful is actual time saved in real life. All those seconds add up quite quickly. If 20 seconds is saved in this type of test, there's way more seconds and even minutes saved waiting for your phone every single day.

The test isn't pointless, but they clearly should have spent more time explaining the point of it.

The difference is minimum though...
Actually it's a huge difference, because if the tables were turned and the Samsung Note 20 Ultra beat the iPhone 12 by 5 seconds the trolls would be in here full force trashing the iPhone 12 for being too, outdated and behind the times. Let's be real about it.

its called a benchmark, how else would people test anything?
Testing is already done during development but if that's the sort of thing you get off on....go for you life. Personally I could think of better things to do but each to their own. Live and let live and all that.

Let's do this test again when the new Samsung phone is released with a new snapdragon chip.
Sure, but is that really a selling point to anyone considering Samsung versus iPhones? (Rhetorical) Consumers don’t care. These types of benchmark tests are for the extreme nerds who need to know exactly how their phones perform so they can play their mobile gaming while drinking code red Mountain Dew.

Can anyone explain to me why iOS closes apps when it’s runs out if memory rather than using a swap file to keep far more open? Re-opening many apps is such a pain (as is reloading tabs in Safari).

wow. 14 seconds difference between the 2
I like Android because a large number of the APPS are FREE or costs less than IOS APPS
plus you don't have to jailbreak your phone to share and trade APPS with a friend

Not really. Samsung was opening apps faster, but now it isn't because the iPhone 12 has a new chip.

And can you play a youtube video on the top of your screen while you text someone on the bottom half at your screen at the same time? My iPhone 11 Pro Max cannot do it, while Samsung phones can do it.

So Apple better also put more RAM in it so we get real multitasking.
Yes you can play YouTube video while texting someone On any iPhone running iOS 14, which is most iPhones out there.

So the Note 20 Ultra was the previous champ. That means all other phones prior to the Note 20 Ultra are slow, and if you own one of them, you should feel bad that you have a slow phone. I only say that for anyone in this thread believing these "tests" are of any significance. But if you see these tests as nothing but fan kiddie fodder, then enjoy your phone the way everyone other normal human being does, one app at a time. 🙄
