The latest research from Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP) shows that all four iPhone 12 models accounted for 63% of total iPhone sales in the United States in the quarter ending June 2021.

The highest-end iPhone 12 Pro Max tied with the year-old iPhone 11 for the largest share of any single model at 23%, while the iPhone 12 mini and iPhone XR had the smallest share, each at 5%, according to CIRP. As pandemic-related restrictions ease in the United States, the Chicago-based research firm said increased consumer spending correlated with consumers shifting to more expensive iPhone models.

"Apple did very well as it emerged from the COVID-19 pandemic," said Josh Lowitz, a CIRP co-founder. "Increased consumer spending correlated with consumers shifting to more expensive iPhone models as they retired older phones and shopped more at Apple's own retail locations to buy those iPhones."

The shift to more expensive models resulted in the iPhone's average selling price in the United States rising to $869 in the June 2021 quarter, added Lowitz.

The research note also indicates that Apple experienced a significant increase in iPhone sales through its retail operations, including both physical stores and online. In the June 2021 quarter, 27% of iPhone sales in the United States were completed through Apple, compared to a previous high of 21% in September 2020, according to CIRP.

CIRP bases its findings on its survey of 500 customers in the United States who purchased an iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple Watch in the April-June 2021 period.

I don't care for a folding iPhone, the Max display is big enough for me.
A folding phone doesn't impress me much. I've seen the Samsung and there'd a crease where the screen folds, plus enough space at the hinge for debris to get in. Also, the display doesn't feel like glass, but like plastic. Reminded be of the Palm Pilot touch screen.
I think it would be best if it's two separate glass displays that meet together when unfolded.

I'll wait for this year's iPhone.

Saw it with my very own eyes last week, many people were buying iPhones at Apple store and setting them up. I also noticed most of the action was around iPhones. The Macs, iPad and Apple Watch showcase tables were mostly dead islands.

There was an old couple walking around store who looked like they were just browsing. Upon leaving the Apple store to pick up groceries then heading to the parking lot, I saw the old couple with what appears to be an iPhone 12.

With the aesthetics of stainless steel frame on iPhone 12 Pro, it is not surprise that it the iPhone that people will go for.. moreover, with the Lidar and extra features, it is worth to buy compare to others.

Interesting (and counter-intuitive for me) that
12 pro max > 12 > 12 pro > 12 mini

If I had to guess, it would have been
12 > 12 pro > 12 pro max > 12 mini

I am really surprised about the 12 pro being less preferable than 12 pro max.

Interesting that people are buying the 12 Pro Max (or really any 12 series) this close to a new iPhone launch.

My wife (and MacRumors forums) has convinced me to wait for the 13 and not give up my 12 mini so soon. I really want a bigger screen and longer battery life. Plus, the screen itself is much nicer (same screen, just brighter) on the 12 Pro Max.

Any chance we will see M1 in the next Pro series?

I suspect most consumers see iPhone 11 as comparable with iPhone 12, with the exception of 5G and $200 cheaper.

your wife is a wise woman, who the hell buys an iphone in july?! i mean unless there is a need...

The iPhone 12 was the only generation I skipped. I might as well wait with the 13 just around the corner. Looking forward to 5G in my next iPhone.
Same here, my 11PM is now my longest-serving iPhone, but will be traded in for the 13 in 2-ish months.
