I like Otter cases for safety, have dropped phones before. What does a magsafe case mean? Doesn't this new phone have magsafe magnet in it? Is it needed on the case? it's not clear to me

From Apple's website re the Magsafe cases....

"With built-in magnets that align perfectly with iPhone 12 | 12 Pro, this case offers a magical attach experience and faster wireless charging, every time. When it’s time to charge, just leave the case on your iPhone and snap on your MagSafe charger, or set it on your Qi-certified charger."

The Apple clear cases show a built-in magnetic strip where the Magsafe charger should attach.

I started checking the Store app at about 7:55 AM. I had pre-qualified for the upgrade program. The app said they were not ready. Kept saying that until about 8:03AM. I ordered a Graphite Pro (I use a case so the color isn't as important for me) with 256. I was able to chenge from delivery to store pickup for 10/23 as I didn't want to play the delivery dance with FedEx or UPS or whoever delivers the phones. I've done that dance before and it's no fun. Since they require a signature if I am not around for any reason, it goes back for a next day delivery. For now, I was able to reserve a time at the local Apple store for after work. It will be a long day at work waiting for that 6PM appointment.

I'm one the east coast between Philly and Baltimore (figure it out). So ordered mine in "Delaware Bay Brackish Gray".

It comes with lumps provided by the combined overflow sewer system in Wilmington.

As far as the cases. I got my Pacific Blue Pro pre order on so I'm good for the 23rd. I wanted a clear case to show the color. The ring on the back of the Apple clear case is just hideous. Like Jake from Sate Farm hideous.

I have like 5 Qi chargers between my office, my nightstand, and my living room, and I have 2 USB C wall adaptors. I really don't care for the little Apple wallet thingie. I carry a specialized wallet now because I have to carry more junk in it that most people, and some of it simply will not fit in that holder.

I ordered a Raptic Shield clear case on Amazon with blue aluminum edges to keep the color scheme the same. It was $30 as opposed to the $49 for Apple's case. I mean, 11 dollars isn't shiat for a $1,000 phone. I just went looking on Amazon and liked this one better.

I have no intention of purchasing any MagSafe accessories in the foreseeable future...
Yes! That is why I cancelled my pre order for pacific blue 12 pro. We Floridians are waiting for either Atlantic Blue or Flamingo Pink.

It was really strange to not pre order today since I'm waiting for the Pro Max. Its gonna be a long 3-4 weeks.
You know what sucked? I was able to get the 12 Pro pacific blue 256 gig in my bag but decided to say : Nah! Let me delete it and wait for the same phone but in the Max version. I know I will not regret it.

Got my order with 10% military discount at 8:23 am damn site was not working well.
In store pick up.
12 Pro 512GB Pacific blue.

Get ready for the whiny/grumpy threads of 'anyone recieved their pre-order phone?','i've not recieved my phone yet, am very annoyed','Apple messed up my order, how do i get my phone','Apple sent me the wrong iphone, how do i send it back' or 'Apple sent me the wrong iphone but getting new one will take 3 weeks, shall i keep it?'.

Such threads happened the last time the iphone was released and the time before that and the time before that. Us humans are so predictable :)
LOL yeah always same every year. I have to wait to Join that band wagon until the pre order for the Pro Max ;-)

Q: For those taking advantage of Tmobiles offer of an extra $150 if you trade in an iphone to Apple, is your new phone tied to sprint? I am an existing Sprint customer. What makes this attractive is I will receive an electronic master card for $150 in one lump sum, not over 24 or 30 months. What I do not know is if the new phone is locked to Sprint. I plan on remaining with Tmobile for the foreseeable future as I am a SWAC subscriber.

Managed to order myself a Graphite 12 Pro 128GB for in-store pick up on the 23rd. The app was a pain in the rear though. Didn't realize you can't reserve and pay in-store now.
Paid with Apple Pay and then had a pop-up saying the payment method failed? Despite this I do have an order number and the confirmation email and on the order details on the main website it does say pay in full with Apple Pay. Hopefully everything goes through ok.

I had a 12 Pro, 256GB in Blue on preorder via Apple iPhone upgrade plan, woke up early at 5 AM, and after numerous "sorry, an error has occurred screens", when I finally made it to the checkout screen at 5:08 AM, delivery had slipped to October 30. I canceled and switched back to my usual Gold color. They must have been seriously hammered with orders.
I have found that the iPhone app works far better than ordering from the website.

My plan was to get the 12 Pro Max. After making a full-size prototype out of wood and handling it like a real phone for a half day, I decided it was too big and went for the regular Pro.

I'm coming from a three year old X, and with my focus being photography, there wasn't enough difference in the cameras to stay with the Pro Max.

Now that is some serious research my friend. Bravo.

The website and app kept crashing here in UK, and by the time I eventually managed to check out 20 mins after the store 'opened', availability of the 256GB Pro models had all slipped into Nov. I think they must have only had a small amount of launch day stock of the 256GB pro models (at least)
Me, same thing in Ireland....pi$$ed! Felt a bit deliberate to me.
