Nothing annoys/worries me more than rumors that the smaller PRO will be missing features!

I was just about to say the same thing. That would be a huge fail if one "Pro" has some features, and the other "Pro" doesn't. Why even have the "Pro" name then?

Apple needs to just do away with all these stupid naming schemes for their iPhones. "Max" is the worst name they ever came up with. We don't need a name to differentiate size. We have eyes for that.

My guess is that it's the iPhone 12 Pro case alongside the iPhone 11 Pro case.

Once you get to this you have to wonder wouldn't it be better to just black out the whole camera hump, similar to the FaceID cameras on the front.

Also it would be nice it you could get a high-end iPhone without all these cameras. I'd personally be happy with a single camera and flash, maybe even a flush one, but still want to keep everything else. Would make for a cheaper, lighter, thinner iPhone for those who photography isn't a priority.

This is why I’m sticking with my iPhone X

I wish Apple would stop putting features like LIDAR that maybe only a tiny fraction of the population might care about. They talk about it in their keynotes like its some game changing feature, when 99.9% of the population will never use it. Augmented Reality isn't a thing, and there is no evidence that its going to be a thing. I just don't get their fascination with it and all they do is use it to justify jacking up the price of their phones.

Apple's Upper Mgmt needs to continue to try to prove that their VR & AR bets will ultimately pay off, even if it makes NO logical sense for such features to be added to "mainstream" iPhones !

Could be a good feature, but is ALSO probably just a niche feature.

Its benefit misses its target market, girls & young women who would use the improved depth capture for their photos.

A better solution would have been for Apple to offer a Base version of the 6.7" without the extra Bells & Whistles that most would NEVER use (& thus lower cost), & another "specialty" Higher-Priced version OR versions !

E.g, I for one have been trying to get AAPL to offer a specialty version of their High-End iPhones for a few years now, one that is optimized / soup'd-up for High-Perf Burst Photography, & which would include a much better image sensor in the Back Telephoto Camera.

Maybe Apple knows something about their customer base that you don't know? If you feel strongly that Apple is wrong, please send them a letter letting them know they're about to make a huge mistake.

"Augmented Reality isn't a thing, and there is no evidence that its going to be a thing."

Where was the evidence that people wanted "A thousands songs in your pocket," back in the early 2000s? Or that people wanted a non-mechanical keyboard on their mobile phone in 2007? Or that people would buy and wear an Apple Watch, when at that time many people stopped wearing watches?

Jesus is that hideous. Why can't we just go back to a single camera? Imagine the camera and the size of a sensor that could fit in that camera bump? The bigger the sensor the better the image. As a professional photographer, I'm never giving up my A7R IV, but if you gave me a smartphone that had a massive single lens camera on the back, I'd be all in.
As a pro photographer you should also know that bigger sensor=bigger lens. People don't want an iPhone with a lens sticking out 10mm out of the casing.

I wonder why Apple didnt go with This camera Design?

People enjoy more the ability to have different focal lengths on their phones rather than one huge sensor. You could take the best shot... and then what? You wouldn't be able to optically zoom in any further or take an utlra wide shot if you need to.

But nonetheless, the main sensors are continuously being upgraded. Huawei, Samsung etc have massive sensors compared to the iPhone and they're constantly trying to fit an even larger one while keeping the form factor about the same.

Software image processing is also very important to phones. Look at what Night Modes do on these tiny sensors.

Apparently you've never heard of a prime lens. A lens that many photographers prefer.

Exactly my feelings. Remember, it wasn't users who asked for an ultra-wide, lidar, macro, telephoto, we just wanted a camera that took great shots. I wish they'd stop trying to have an all-in-one solution and just give us a great, single camera. If anyone remembers, the Pixel 3 XL had the best camera on the market for over a year and it was a single lens setup. Give us a single lens that has a much larger sensor and stop with all this foolish novelty lens crap.

Dude take a breath. I am simply providing my opinion. No need to get upset over it.

LiDAR is something nobody will use, total waste of space, engineering, and money. Even cheap Chinese phones make the iPhone camera look like something from 2008, but Apple thinks they can just make some tiny improvements this year and then throw in a useless scanner to divert people’s attention.

if this post offends you, you need to take a look at what the competition is doing.

I hope this iPhone doesn’t get delayed till November man
You are obsessed with the release date of the iPhone 12 Pro models. Holy Cow. It's a phone and it will release when it's ready to release. 4-months from now the phone releasing in November vs October will have no impact on your life whatsoever. Constantly posting and fretting over it won't change the release date.

You have an unhealthy obsession with Apple products. Enjoy life...there's more to it than gadgets.

I love Apple :)

The issues with AR is that there isn't enough people with hardware, and the hardware available isn't designed to truly use it. So it's hard to justify development of it. Apple pushing LiDAR out to everyone provides a platform to start focusing development.

The biggest issue with these rumors is that not everyone will get it which fragments the user base. If some people don't pay for it than those who did will get less value out of it. Sort of the way that everyone pays for and has access to accessibility features even though most people don't use them.

...do you know how often I look at the back of my phone while using it?

That was rude.

Saying I can't wait for the new device is no different than saying I can't wait for Christmas, or the Superbowl, or to hit the gym. It's an expression of desire not a demand of time-turning. There are appropriate and inappropriate places to do things. It's ok to check yourself out at the gym but not so at the bank, just like it's ok to talk endlessly about the new iPhone at MacRumors but not at bodybuilder.com. You probably think you see it frequently here because this is the place to discuss those things.
