I'm going on vacation in a few months and I want to take some nice photos and I'm noticing blurryness and glare from my camera lenses on my iPhone 12 Pro. I know the jump will be massive and my battery currently is at 81% total health so it dies frequently should I upgrade or just replace the battery? Is it worth?

So Calif
My wife has a 12PM and is looking at getting the 16 Pro.

She takes a LOT of photos & videos and ran out of space on the 12PM so now she is using cloud storage....

I’ve got 12P with 84%. If it wasn’t for the battery life being really poor (maybe latest iOS sucks more battery or maybe I’m using more location features? Actually I’ve just checked and the prime battery user is WhatsApp background activity - interesting) then I don’t think I’d upgrade despite loving tech and iPhones in particular. I’ve pre-ordered a 16P but I’m having second thoughts and wondering if I should just replace the battery of my 12P. I’m still in awe of the camera system (I would like 5x zoom though) and it’s the most impressive iPhone I’ve ever had, and I still love it everyday. I guess I’m struggling to see how any phone could be much better. Mind you, maybe it’s like when I was on iPhone X and loved it, then I saw the photos from a friends 12P and I was shocked by how much better they were.

I realise my ramble comes to no conclusion and I remain confused as to what to do. All I know is better battery life is required fairly urgently! Of note is that my company would buy the 16P, so it would largely be a tax write off…I should probably get it and enjoy paying the taxman a bit less 😁😁😁

PS I went through the process with a friend and he pointed out that because I use iCloud and that offboards the photos and video, 512 is probably overkill, and that AppleCare isn’t necessary if you have other insurance. I cancelled my initial order and now have an order in for 16P 256 Natural without AppleCare and the total cost is down by €550, which has swung the decision for me.

You should have upgraded from iPhone 12 Pro when iPhone 13 Pro was released due to higher battery capacity, but if you have iPhone 13 Pro, other than a few software and hardware features, you should still be fine and just replace the battery...

I had exactly the same problem With my 12 pro, but then I turned off background refresh in WhatsApp and my battery life has been fine since. WhatsApp moans about it a bit and tries to get you to turn it on again, but honestly I’ve not noticed any difference in how that app operates. Might be worth giving it a try.

I’m on a 12 Pro too with 84% battery health. It doesn’t last long and needs a charge during the day to see me out.

I’m upgrading to the 16 Pro. Mostly because of the battery, but there are also some nice changes like 120hz, action and camera buttons, Dynamic Island, USB-C, satellite SOS, and of course better cameras.

Kept the 12 Pro for 4 years which I think is a reasonable life. I’ll either sell it to help fund the 16 Pro, or throw it in a drawer as a backup.

Nice! I’ll give it a try, thank you!

This has been my logic since I upped my iCloud storage a few years ago to 2TB as a complete cloud solution for all my storage and file management needs.

My 14pro is 256 and I still have almost 100GB left.

I ordered the 256 16Pro.

While I personally never bought apple care on any device, the other insurance point is valid. Even some credit cards have electronic device protection included.
