Calling it a downgrade is obviously subjective. I don’t own an 11 Pro so for me it’s irrelevant but those with an 11 Pro should remember that their phone is only a year old at this point and does it need replacing? I wouldn’t be wasting my money and my iPhone 12 will be enjoyed for the next 2 years.

These iPhones are good enough to last more than just 12 months ;)

I think it is worth waiting for a few other battery tests before coming to a conclusion on iPhone 12/pro battery life. The difference between the 12 and 12 pros in tom guides tests doesn't really make sense.

That's obviously true. Real life usage is very different. I'm just counter arguing OP's statement that battery life is worse on the new 12's, which doesn't seem to be true based on Tom's Guide test.

iPhone 11 Pro, what's that ? An antique obsolete phone ?
Reminds the 56k modem era.

It isn't worth a €200 extra. Pro can be a good purchase decision if you are serious in photo/video stuff but just RAM is not enough. I have made a topic about it since it was my only concern this year to go or not Pro, and I got a huge concensus saying that it's not relevant enough.

I was similarly concerned about the 2 GB difference; I think it honestly comes down to which blue I like more. Not sure yet which way I'll go; I can say the improved camera probably won't make a difference for me. Coming from iPhone X.

The better way to state it is that if you own the 11 Pro, you definitely don’t need to upgrade this year unless you have the cash sitting around. The upgrades aren’t huge and you’ll probably feel like you’re getting more of an upgrade if you wait a year.

I used my X for 3 years and changing to 12 Pro this year. Gone are the days of me wanting to upgrade every year. People act like because there’s a new iPhone out every year that they need to upgrade EVERY YEAR. It’s insane.

Lets be honest.

The features introduced by iphone 12 series are minimal and some may argue that this is a downgrade from 11 pro.

- 5g is irrelevant in most countries and LTE is already adequate in terms of speed/download sizes of files used in a mobile device.
- magsafe: save from being cool offers nothing at the moment.
- cameras: essentially the same.wider lens and other software little contribute to the overall quality. The dolby vision etc cannot be utilised in other monitors or devices yet.
SOC: a13 already fast
- display, speakers, bezels, all the same
- battery life: even worse

My question is: what does iphone 12 bring to the table?
Imo effectively brings reduced battery life and longevity in that respect.
Yea let’s be honest, how high were you when you posted this? I’ll give you credit It’s pretty funny

If you use an iPhone 12 and then get an iPhone 11 Pro, could that be perceived as a downgrade due to some features not being present? Just offering an alternative to the absurdity for balance.

Can you distinguish between photos from 12 and 11?
U cant

The difference is pretty obvious.
The only reason I quoted that post rather than the original post is that I didn’t want to let that crazy rant be seen on a second page.

you could potentially loose battery life something which is of material importance
xs to 11 was huge
11 to 12 no at all

Am referring to hardware dont be a sheep ffs
apple could do that on 11

How is a phone that's an upgrade or equal in everything except battery capacity (and not even necessarily battery life) a downgrade? At worst it's a sidegrade, and in reality it's an upgrade but not in ways you care about.

Why make such a big deal about it? Getting a new phone each year has been a waste of money for years now.

Man, how this person triggered these much people.

My say is, we can all just wait to upcoming reviews on Youtube then compare.

Obviously its to point out that that the improvements you mention are negligible

The iPhone 12 and 12 Pro aren't marketed to you, an iPhone 11 Pro owner. But even if they were, ignoring the changes to the actual physical body of the phone, these aren't all negligible improvements. Maybe they don't matter to YOU but "downgrade" is absolute hyperbolic nonsense.

iPhone 12 vs iPhone 11 Pro
6.1" vs 5.8" display
5G vs 4G
A14 vs A13
Ceramic Shield front with 4x better drop performance
6 meters vs 4 meters water resistance
Magsafe
Night mode on all cameras/portrait mode/time lapse
Deep fusion on front camera

Improvements to the 12 Pro:
All of the above, plus
Dolby Vision HDR video recording
LiDAR Scanner
2x base storage
Apple ProRAW
