In terms of design, battery life, colors, and functonality, I gotta give it to the iPhone 12 for being the best iPhone I’ve owned - I’m always one to upgrade yearly but will probably skip the launch this year. I think Apple making the same processor in all variants (12, 12 mini, 12 Pro/Max) and letting people enjoy all the main features no matter what phone they choose was a game changer.

Anyone else feel the same?

Yes i concur, the 12 series for me is the best series released so far especially the 12 mini. The whole line up, from the mini to the pro max, Apple have taken it to the next level in terms of design, performance and functionality.

I gave you a like for being a happy punter. People, perhaps especially me, are often far too ready to complain.

Since I've only owned 3 iPhones in my life (iPhone 5, iPhone 11 Pro Max, and iPhone 12 Pro Max), I do have to say that I absolutely love everything about my 12 Pro Max. The size, the design, the color (blue is my favorite color 💙). I've been a Samsung girl for 8 years after the iPhone 5 because I wanted to try Android for a bit. Then in early 2020, I decided to try iPhone again. Originally, I wanted to wait for the 12 Pro Max, but at the time I didn't think it would have come out last year due to the pandemic, etc and I didn't want to rely on rumors, so I jumped the gun and got the 11 Pro Max. Then, I found out they were releasing the 12 Pro Max in November and in my favorite color. It was a no brainer - I gave my 11 Pro Max to my sister once I upgraded to the 12 Pro Max and I don't regret it! Definitely my favorite phone, by far!

Never really understood what people mean when they say best iPhone ever.

OP, do you mean best iPhone in absolute terms, or best for its time? If the former, Apple would really have to mess up if the latest iPhone isn't the best iPhone. That said, apart from my battery health already being at 92%, I also really like my 12 pro.

If you mean the latter, i can appreciate your opinion. I think for its time, there's the og iPhone and the iPhone 4 are pretty up there.

In absolute terms. In the past, when other models released (example: iPhone XS/XR, etc) you’d have one version with OLED and the other with an LCD display (nothing wrong with them, just using for comparison) and you’d have to get the OLED version if you wanted all the bells and whistles.

with the 12 series it’s basically the best value for your money as you are not compromising performance with any of them, and there are 4 variations and one of them will fit your needs.

Imo it depends on what was your previous phone and your expectation on the device.
In general, the latest iPhone will be the "best" iPhone. The iPhone 12 lineup made a scene because of the new design, but then I'm sure people will be saying how the iPhone 13 is what the iPhone 12 should've been. :D

<shrug> It's a phone. If I had it to do over again, I wouldn't have replaced my X.
I’m with you. I still loathe/regret the day I surrendered my space gray X for a white/silver XS. I’ve had the 11 Pro and now the 12 Pro and while I really loved that X, the 11 Pro is my favorite of the last few years. The slightly smaller size paired with a rounded leather case rather than a squared one made it by far the most comfortable for me. After four months I still find the 12 Pro just a smidge too large.

The real question is: is this the best iPhone release relative to its current tech-market? For that I would say no.

I am basing this opinion off of my wife’s iPhone 12 Pro. When I saw that 120hz was axed, I decided to wait another year to upgrade myself.

This iPhone 12 Pro has a great camera, and the build quality is second to none. But there’s a few complaints…

  • Screen isn’t great. A lot of complaints about the screen looking green and requiring an accessibility adjustment. 60hz is hard on the eyes
  • Even with 60hz, battery life is so-so. I’m sure the Max has great battery, but that thing is a behemoth with the flat edges.
  • The notch has been here for the past four years at the same size. Bezels are also relatively large compared to the competition.
  • There isn’t anything significantly better than the iPhone 11 which was already super fast and had even better battery life.

iPhone 12 Pro Max is great and the best iPhone released to date. Unfortunately it still gives me headaches due to PWM so it’s unusable.

I have the 12 Pro Max 256GB in Pacific Blue. I absolutely love my phone. Coming from the XS Max that I kept for 18 months (I use it as a backup phone), it’s faster, better design, bigger screen, better battery. The 5G is also good and fast. I love this color and don’t want to part with it, so I’ve decided to keep my 12 Pro Max for another year. I’ll just get a battery change before the 2 years is up.

I went from the X to a 12Pro and regret it all the time. Never should have done it... there was literally no reason to other than "ooh, shiny". I'd like to take the idiots that came up with Deep Fusion and especially Night Mode out and shake them warmly by the throat.
