The only example I can come up with is perhaps the iPhone 6 when it replaced the 5S?
I agree, and it was definitely the case with the 6 Plus.

1gb ram & 64bit OS should never have happened.

I swim against the tide on this one, but I’d also say the iPad Air 1 was the worst iPad for the same reason. Far worse than the iPad 3. The iPad 3 was quickly superseded by the iPad 4, it was slow and heavy BUT it had a great screen and was stable. It worked.

The iPad Air 1 was garbage, plasticky screen, unstable due to 1gb RAM/64 bit. Pause a podcast, go to Safari, press resume….oops, podcast app flushed, plays random music. Lots of random crashes. Open 2 tabs, start a post, go to second tab, go back, page flushed and reloads. I’ve never copied and pasted so much in my life. The good old 32bit 1gb iPad 3 did none of this. It was like I said, just a bit slow and heavy.

Sold the Air 1 after a couple of months and spent 9 months without an iPad. The iPad Air 2, to be fair, was an excellent iPad.

I still prefer the 11 pro over the 12 pro with the rounded corners. It feels better in my hands with the rounded sides imho. I do prefer the Pacific Blue over the midnight Green though I got to say. I just got my 12 4 days ago so I’ll probably be fine with the feel after a while
Have you gotten used to the boxier corners? I didn’t mind the rounded corners, but after using the 12 now I love the boxier design.

I’m back to an iPhone (12) after a few years on a Samsung. The OLED on my previous phone spoiled me when it came to the display quality so Apple finally moving towards OLED across the entire lineup helped open the door to get me back. I was never going to pay up for the higher end iPhone models in the past to get OLED and I don’t like huge max/plus size phones anyway. The lineup is in a great place now with the options we have.

The regular iPhone 12 is the perfect size, the display is EXCELLENT, and I’m impressed with the improvements Apple made to iOS since I was away. Very happy with this new phone so far.
