I’m going from a first generation iPhone SE to an iPhone 13 Pro Max and I’m just wondering if I’ll notice any differences. I keep hearing and reading that this is a boring phone so I hope I don’t have to go to the trouble of returning it.

I went from a 7 Plus to a 13 Pro Max. About the same dimensions as before but a little heavier. In terms of upgrade, this is a big jump in screen size, battery, cameras, cpu/gpu, and ram.

I miss Touch ID. Even if Apple wasn't ready to put it under the screen, I wish they had implemented it in the power button like the iPad Air.

Still getting used to not having a home button anymore. *swipe swipe*
That’s a MASSIVE upgrade, but the 7 Plus is still pretty snappy. My mom still has a 7 Plus and it still gets around incredibly well. Very few hiccups. Amazing that it’s a 5 year old phone and can still take good pics, open apps very quickly, etc. The 7 Plus was one of the most memorable iPhones in my opinion.

Looks like yours is graphite? Is that right? The SS frame looks good (darker).
Yep, it’s graphite. The SS looks a bit like a gunmetal gray, but it varies by light.

Color looks great in that pic, thanks. I went with graphite on my 13 Pro (6.1). Should be here this coming Friday. Really excited for the phone and glad I went with the graphite.

Should be no need to unpair watch. Just launch the watch app on the new phone after it’s all done and it will ask you if you want to pair to the new phone. Best way to do device to device is with a cable - the USB 3 camera adapter and a usb-to-lightning cable. Took 30 minutes to transfer everything when I did it last night.
I would agree with both of you but when I called Apple it was their suggestion and has worked. I am still getting used to using Apple Pay-it is not as seamless as I thought. Even if my device is unlocked it still needs me to show my Face ID. I will get used to it.

Yeah, Apple Pay is much easier with an Apple Watch than with an iPhone.

I am starting to wonder if there is a tolerance in their display manufacturing for the 120hz screen.

Check to see if it has a white balance setting since some devices have it. Otherwise, I'd suspect multi-sourcing of displays from different manufacturers more so than variance from single source. Last I heard Samsung, LG and BOE were in the mix for iPhone 13 displays although the last one might've been dropped.

Im so tired of people expecting a completely new and revolutionary product every 12 months. Advancements dont always move that fast.
Apple presents every new iPhone as revolutionary so it’s not too strange that people expect this. I’m actually so tired of having to filter Apples marketing attempts. Every time there’s new Apple stuff I have to reduce their psychological tricks to real info and read between the lines what the actual added benefits of the new phones are, because what they try and plant into my brain is that it’s all pure magic and awesomeness.

Rene is smart and knows what he is talking about. His reviews are incredibly in-depth, however his inability to even remotely criticise apple severely damages his credibility.
Rene is a shill, he's been caught out a number of times having BS double standards. It's probably the reason his iMore forum posts dwindled.

If you want less than honest reviews, check out Apple’s fav iJustine. I’m pretty sure she’d be able to hype-up Tim’s turds if he let her.
“Look, there’s some corn… no freakin’ way! Look how amazing it looks with the new macro lens!”
Yeah I quit watching her years and years ago, she is obviously paid by Apple in some way... The people that watch her are little 12-year-old boys who think she’s hot...and she is hot ....but annoying to me

I try to reason with people but they do not listen. "Not every phone release is aimed at you!" They have a Pikachu face and continue to grumble.
I don't blame people for being upset when the marketing and advertising are trying to convince you that this is the most exciting thing to EVER HAPPEN TO ANYBODY EVER OMG. Then the product doesn't align with the promise for those who aren't a couple of generations behind, which leads to feelings of 'blahitude'.

... or something. I don't know, I only use my phone as a modem and "iCloud platform" for my laptop anyway, so I don't find any of this very exciting at all. "Crotchety luddite" works for me!

This time I want to burn Apple. Here I am like many on pre order day to get my phone on the 24th and get a phone on that day and it’s not mine because they mixed the ups tracking labels. On the other hand, Apple “specialists” are more incompetent because it shows that they are not trying not even a bit to resolve the issue. I order an iPhone 13 pro blue 256gb with no carrier and what came in was an iPhone pro max blue 256gb under Verizon addressed to someone. I could use this phone to my advantage, but morally I feel this is wrong. Still I see Apple not doing an effort to fix the problem.
Did any of you encounter a problem with your order? As is, I still can’t do an unboxing because of Apples mistakes and incompetent specialists.

I had an iPhone 8 so this was a major leap.
So my biggest worry was getting the device activated. That was easy.

moving data was a pain. Device to device failed at least twice and the iCloud backup didn’t seem to restore everything. Ended up wiping and restoring from back up. Ironically Apple Music no issues.

The 2nd biggest was the watch. I ended up having to factory reset it to get it to pair.

I also learned I should have unpaired watch from old phone first. Didn’t know that.

still getting used to Face ID and getting Apple Pay working but other than that I am happy. Will hold old device a few more days before I wipe and send back for credit.

biggest question is charging via a usb a to lightning speeds. Will have to play with it before I decide what to do.
That have been users, like self, that have reported online at different forums, that the iWatch should've been unpaired from the Old iphone FIRST as there were connection issues with the newer iPhone.

Also, be careful with the Fitness app. It was backed up to iCloud then restored but the historically data did NOT transfer over. Lost all data for >1 yr including all the Award badges!:mad:

Had to recheck and update most of the settings since it didn't restore properly from an 8 Plus to the 13 Pro. Restoring the data was a real pain.

Weight isn't an issue. Can people seriously feel the difference of ~1~2 ounces from their old to new iPhone? It's laughable.

Considering the money paid, Apple didn't include a wall charger anymore. Thank goodness I had a 12W charger available and considering upgrading to a 20W charger.

Absolutely strange. I've done a lot of Fitness restores from iCloud (I NEVER restore machine backups or do OTA updates but always fresh install everything to avoid any kind of slowdowns / problems) and never had any problem. The only trick is to wait until it finishes. I have some 1.3GBytes of Fitness data in iCLoud and usually have to wait for hours for it to be restored in the Fitness app.

You will. The first-gen SE is a completely different animal in every respect (and is quite outdated).
