iPhone 13 iPhone 13 - battery life thread [MEGA THREAD]

You are taking away peoples fun and excitement. 😆

I am thinking of just leaving low power mode on all the time and see what kind of battery life I can get that way. It would be interesting for a battery life comparison like mrwhosetheboss did except turn on low power mode on all the phones.
Give it a go, let us know what usage you end up with.

The yellow tint thread made me realize how fortunate we are complaining about the screens of $1000 phones and there are kids in the world that don't get to eat.
True, this is a first world problem. All in all, I am quite happy with my silver 13 Pro Max. Those things I mention about the display are quibbles, nothing more.

I almost forgot, I have dark mode on all the time. So this will be very interesting to see what kind of battery life I can get with dark mode on, low power mode on, auto brightness on, Hey Siri turned off, background app refresh turned off completely, mail push notification off, bluetooth off, Camera Live Text off. I guess if I run out I will try not using CarPlay as that would charge the phone. I think I am going to try and stick to running the battery down to 20%.

I wish there was a feature where you can connect to car play and not charge your phone at the same time

The problem is, you need power to be able to send data and receive data on the phone. The communication chip which is connected to the charging port needs power to function.

So I have put my phone down for the night. It has been 3 hours since I charged it, had 26 mins of on-screen time, the battery still says 85%. Yes, I know it is actually lying to me.

I wonder if Apple will fix the battery charging algorithm in iOS 15.1.

EDIT: 4 hours after charging to 85%, battery still shows 85%. It will be interesting to see how much the battery percentage will show when it goes down. If it only drops by 1% that would be insane considering it has been over 4 hours since the phone finished charging.

Next week started. Yesterday I tested wifi vs cellular in regards to battery drain. I think that difference is small - maybe data cellular drain battery faster, in my case a little faster than wifi.

Is this drain overnight something I should be concerned about? I went to bed at 11:30 and it seemed to have drained a little bit overnight. No activity is mentioned during this time whatsoever which is why I'm puzzled.

I have a 13 mini.

it's max 5% it's fine and normal. worry if it's above 5% per 8 hours without usage.

I have had 6% tonight in a little over 9 hours.

A update on my low power mode battery life. It has been 12 hours since my last charge to 85%. I have 1 hour on-screen time. Battery life after 12 hours, 81%. Overnight while I slept, only lost 2%. Initially, it took 5 hours before it dropped by 1% to 84%. This thing is bonkers good.

Did you do calibration when you turned on Auto Brightness? The thing about the calibration is that you set the brightness in a completely dark room. That is the reference brightness that will be used. The initial brightness is going to be all the down to its lowest setting. I thought that was too low so I set the initial brightness to about 5% which is plenty bright in a pitch back room. After seeing the initial brightness you are done, leave Auto Brightness enabled and don't touch the brightness. If you find that you need to adjust the brightness then maybe another calibration is what you need. I actually did the calibration several times, settling on 5% initial brightness.

Try doing the calibration. I never liked Auto Brightness because of what you mentioned about being too bright or not bright enough. After I did the calibration I am finding that I actually like using Auto Brightness.

Calibration is not working for me. After doing all the steps I activate the automatic brightness and it goes to 0%

Before the latest update I was getting insane battery life now it’s just impressive, wonder what they changed ?

I worked it out - it’s that blooming iPhoto background processing stuff … again…

Mail 39h background processing smh ? What on earth is that all about ? 😂
