Hi, I am enjoying stellar battery life on my 13pm. I've installed 15.4.1, and been on mid-second day with 56% left and with 5 hours and 20 mins of SOT. So definitely better than 15.4 overall.
Tip: crappy instagram was draining my time and battery, so I decided to use the Web version instead.
Tip2: I've also noticed an increase in battery life after indexing was completed. Surprisingly, I didn't know that indexing is done when charged only, so I left the phone to charge overnight and boom, it finished.
You can check when indexing is completed by trying to use search on the photo app. If indexing is still in progress, it will tell you.
Cheers

Light & Dark mode auto @ 7:00a.m/p.m.
Testing out low power mode.
2hrs and 20mins of usage, including 21.5 hrs of standby, battery percentage @ 82%.
Activities include - Surfing the web, watching Youtube, playing games, forum browsing on Tapatalk, communicating via What’s App, checking emails, a minute of phone call and some reading.

On days like this where I am spending most of my time on my Mac, it feels like it is possible to push 4 to 5 days on a single charge in low power mode.

Is there a specific reason why you have the Low Power Mode always enabled?

Not really, was just wondering what is the maximum time I can push on the iPhone without charging it, especially since it help reduce battery usage while gaming. Unfortunately I did not enable dark mode throughout this experiment, figure that will keep the phone going for longer.

More than 4hrs of total usage, 62.5 hrs across 3 days, with 39% of battery left.

This is with using my iPhone as a touch light last night, on full brightness for 16mins! On top of all the usuals as stated in my previous post.

I used to charge my old Nokia phone once every 3 days, some 20 years ago in my pre-windows smartphone days(Yes they existed way before the first iPhone). Can’t believe the iPhone is encroaching on that kind of duration between charge!

Going to charge my iPhone now as I will be using it extensively today so I can’t continue this experiment.

I can however conclude, with conservative usage, it is quite possible to push the iPhone to 4 days of usage.

Its subjective and all depends on how you use your device. Not all batteries are made equal. Apple will replace your battery if it falls below 80% within your 1 year warranty or 2 years if you have apple care plus. After warrants you can still get it replaced with a fee.

Just bought this phone a few days ago used with 96% battery capacity health.

It seems that the battery is draining quite fast since i see others getting 8-9hrs and have 50% battery remaining still, while I’m at 10% with 9 hours screen on time but some of the time it was charging.

My previous iPhone X before this had a battery issue too and the battery was replaced but still drained fast. The shop I brought it to said that there could be a software bug and I have to restart it with fresh data and not use a backup.

Could the drain issue on the new phone be because I transferred all my data from my old one, somehow transferring the bug, or could this battery be defective? Thanks.

Everyone uses their iPhone differently. Most of your usage is background usage. Try resetting just your settings and let it drain completely till it shuts off and charge it back to 100% without using and then leave it plugged in for another hour.
Don’t put too much weight on others who are bragging about their battery life. They could be using less battery intensive apps most of the time or it could be just your settings/software related. Give that regular troubleshooting a try and keep us posted how it works out.

Since 15.5 my 13 pro max isn't as good as before in standby. I almost lose 1 to 3% each hours when I didn't use it and the battery info shows nothing running in the background.

Recently updated to 15.5. My 13 pro max is really performing poorly with cellular data. I hike the same trail every day and this iOS is a terrible step backwards. On top of this, the No Cell Coverage vampire app has reappeared and is sucking the power out of my phone faster than my wireless charger can supply it. I spent an hour on the phone with Apple support and the level one tech knew nothing about this problem. It's been around for over five years! I have very weak cell service at my house, but I'm on wifi all the time. Why is the phone doing anything with cellular service???

I've had my 13 Pro since 4/26/2022 and it is already at 99% battery health. I don't use it excessively, usually charge at night. There were 2 weeks when I used FaceTime a lot daily due to my wife having Covid. I sold my 13 Pro Max that I'd had since launch and it was still at 100%.

I'm also finding about 8-10% drain overnight even when in low power mode, background app refresh disabled. Can I just pay the $70 for Apple to replace my battery or will they adamantly refuse under all circumstances because it won't meet their criteria? If the latter, that's crazy to me, I should be able to pay for any replacement part I'd like.

Why in Pete’s name would you wanna pay $70 for a battery when it’s at 99%? It doesn’t make sense at all if you’re trying to get it replaced right now.

And about that 8-10% overnight drain? It could be a software issue and could possibly be resolved with a future software update, resetting your settings or calibrating your battery.

Why not for $70? But I would try to get apple to replace the phone first and then if them won’t then I’d pay it but that’s just me everyone is different.

As for the battery health I used to fast charge with different fast charging bricks and my phones health would get to about 92-95 by the time I upgraded. This time I’m using the apple power brick and optimized charging and I’ve been at 100% since i got it in Nov.

I’m very familiar with all of the troubleshooting methods re: battery drain. In low power mode with background refresh off it should not drop 8% over 7 hours overnight. I’ve reset all settings and have disabled location just for kicks at night, same problem. This didn’t happen with my 13 Pro Max over the course of 8 months.

I’d pay the $70 because I am not getting great battery life throughout the day, and sometimes batteries can just be duds.

I’m bringing it into Apple tomorrow morning, will see what they say. I highly doubt they’ll replace the entire phone, will be happy if I’m just able to walk out with a new battery for the $70.

My experience - unless the battery health in iOS is under 80% they will not take the $ to replace the battery unless you get a really really nice Apple Genius (and this was years ago). I think there's so much risk to destroying the phone that they actively discourage this for that reason. Good luck.

Regardless of what it might feel like, your battery doesn’t seem like a dud from the info you’ve provided.
So far the only issue you’re experiencing with your battery is the overnight battery drain and nothing about it while you’re actually using your 13 Pro during the day. How does it fare during the day? And if overnight drain is your only issue and you don’t notice much drain otherwise then it can’t be hardware as a hardware failure is consistent regardless of the time of the day.

It's absolutely insane that you'd be "happy" to pay $70 to replace the battery on a six-week-old ~$1,000 iPhone.

I can't believe I don't know this, but does background app refresh have to be enabled in order to receive push notifications for a particular app? Thanks.

To each his own, it's my money. The whole process at the Apple store took about an hour, very quick. After only 27 cycles and 1 month of use the battery was down to 3034 mAh (design max charge is 3076 mAh). The new one is 3140 mAh. How much difference does ~100 mAh make, who knows. But the old one just felt off to me.
