The 8 is essentially same as the X.

Are you sure?
Guess the keyword is "essentially", since the pictures do not seem to be taken through the telephoto lens? 🤔

I've addressed the iPhone 11 comments in an update to the article. Dan cleaned each lens before taking photos, and the iPhone 11 Pro lens was not smudged, dirty, or otherwise visibly compromised. I don't know if there's an internal defect, but I did go back and evaluate other iPhone 11 Pro photos taken by me and by others with a different iPhone 11 Pro than the one Dan used, and in certain lighting conditions, I do see these same hazy/soft/flare effects on some images.

It definitely doesn't affect every photo and it varies based on the light. It could also vary from lens to lens, but we didn't use a dirty or smudged lens for these images.

Some of us don't care about camera features as long as the phone can make and receive calls its good enough and the iPhone 6 and 8 pics are ok so ill keep my 8 until the 14 comes out then ill think about it. but to each his own.

Can you post some of the iPhone 11 images taken from the different phone?

I tested out the new cameras (2 iphone 13pro Max's) and really they're not much better than the 12Pro Max. My iPhone X wide was sharper in the center and much sharper at the edges than the 13Pro Max. I tested using proCamera Raw. Apple Raw is still smearing the details. And the jpegs get worse every year. They look like paintings when you zoom in to 100%.

Sorry but this is absolute BS. Normal iPhone 11 photos do not look like that.

You say in the text of the article that this comparison is using an "iPhone 11 Pro" but the pictures clearly show a normal iPhone 11 (not the Pro). Can you clarify this?

Would be interesting. These shots definitely show the iPhone 11 being dirty or in some way compromised. I've shot tens of thousands of shots on my iPhone 11 (which has exactly!!! the same camera as the Pro, except for the additional tele lens) and have NEVER seen such problems.

THere's no difference at all in the 11 and the 11 Pro main (wide) cameras.

The 13 is not bad but it's nowhere noticeably better than the iPhone 12Pro Max

These are with the iPhone 13 Pro Max

When you look at the fact that the camera bump is now so big that cases have to have ridges to protect it, it's obvious the 13's biggest asset is the camera. This is definitely the phone to get for photography enthusiasts.

That said I'm going to wait until some of the issues I'm hearing about get resolved; apparently this was a buggy release. Not that I have a choice anyway considering the phones are backordered for a month.

Wasn’t the iPhone 11 being advertised as the phone for photography enthusiasts at the time?

Honestly, i Think every year the first photo comparisons looks amazing For the new model. But a year or two after the photos that model take is suddently subpar or in this case with the ip11pro somewhat un-usable in certain situations, has the climachange really affect the sunlight that much o’er the last two years😂

These are my own images from my iPhone 11, taken in 2019. I'm seeing some of the same softness here that I don't think we'd see with an iPhone 13.
