Nice! Where’s the honeymoon at?
Haha... well that somewhat remains to be seen.

Theoretically, over in the US... but that does rely on travel restrictions barring UK travellers from entering the US being lifted in the next few weeks. If that doesn't happen, then that trip will get pushed back, and we'll go away for a shorter break somewhere closer to tide us over.

Fingers crossed though.

Either Apple is really good at locking down leaks on new features, or these new iPhones are going to have only the smallest incremental features from last year. It appears those who have an iPhone 11 or 12 will have to search really hard to find a compelling reason to update, which is probably a good thing given how Apple is trying to be more "green".

So, I think you are right. Hardware has always been a little difficult for them to contain from a leak perspective, but this year has been different. I have an 11 Pro Max and I love it, but I foolishly went with 64 GB (it was the only one I could get at the time). I want to upgrade to have more storage because I keep fighting with my available storage on this guy. I have had the phone for 2 years by the time the 13 series hits, though, and have been making due, but it really grows tiring lol. Out of all of the features that I have heard about the 13 series so far, if they come true, I am most excited about the ProMotion display. 120hz is great on the iPad Pro and my hope is that it leads to AOD like the Apple Watch so I can quickly look down at my phone and see notification icons without tapping it and bringing it to full brightness. Outside of that it is all just incremental to me, and truth be told I don't really care about improvements in the camera.

Having said that, I could get a pretty great deal on a 12 Pro Max with 256 GB of storage now and would love to go that route, but with the new ones coming out in no more than 2 months time it seems silly. By the time I am going to get the 13 Pro Max my 11 Pro Max value will also probably be lessened, but I guess that is just what I have to deal with when looking to upgrade.

Decisions, decisions...

Ahh, I hope you change your mind the Apple event changes your mind. So you can place an order come this September ;) @GrumpyMom
Well because Apple kind of burned me on that purple being released in Spring, I’m going to wait and see if they do a surprise color again for minis later in the year.

I do have a gold Pro Max (fully maxed out spec wise) that I could trade up on for preorders, but I’m only going to do it if they release a Pro color I can’t resist. A deep matte black might do it for me. Bronze could, depending on how it turns out.

Either way, I’m going to watch your posts on your preorder because you bring a lot of joy and enthusiasm to this place, and are always gracious even when some people are incredibly rude to you or mock you.

I feel like for the last 5-6 years battery technology in phones has really grown stagnant for the end-user. I would really like to return to the days where you didn't have to charge your phone EVERY night for the next day. Apple's new M1 chips has shown that we can extend these boundaries further.

I’ll help you. Visit Maui, Hawaii.

I hope you get your shiny iPhone 13 before taking off to your honey

Do we know for sure it's going to be called the iPhone 13, and not iPhone 12s, or some other variant? Personally, I'd like to see apple just switch over to years, i.e. iPhone 2021, iPhone 2021 max, etc.

Whether it's 12s, or 13, it sounds like this is going to be a pretty big upgrade from the 12. Maybe deserving of skipping the 12s naming.

You’ll need better battery tech with 120hz screens

Wi-Fi 6E is probably the most-important least-talked-about feature !

It has Game Changer potential !
Agreed.

For me it's WiFi 6E and the X60 modem with 5G aggregation (mmWave-Sub6, TDD-FDD etc) and VoNR.

The X55 modem in the iPhone 12 is good, but it's still a little half baked, the X60 is the complete modem. 120Hz OLED is going to be extremely nice too.

Apple can do an iPhone with 2-days battery if they want to. However, Apple went a different route, by setting a fixed target battery life instead, eg. 14-17 hours of video playback. Example, the 12 has roughly the same rated battery life as the 11 and XR. So when they have a more efficient SoC, instead of keeping battery size the same and add more battery life, Apple will actually put smaller battery to match their preset target battery life.

Imagine an iPhone with 5000mAh battery inside.

I have to say, I’m really excited about ah iPhone 13 Mini with better battery life. I really dislike the 12 Pro’s weight and am ready to ditch it as soon as I can preorder the Mini.

Probably the only way I’ll suck it up and stick to the Pro line right now is if they add USB-C to it.

Any thoughts on if Apple will "pull up" eligibility for the new phone for those with the "iPhone every year" upgrade program, given the iPhone 12 launched in October last year (meaning no order until October next year). I would think Apple would want to capitalize on launch orders instead of making everyone wait until October to purchase.
No. If you want a phone on launch day you'll have to pay the extra payment. Same thing happened when I upgraded from X to 11.
