120hz displays suck down battery life fast, so the “always on” display is questionable. Even if the refresh rate is dynamic, they still soak up a ton of juice to run.

I think touchID is a given.

“More graphite than graphite” seems strange. The current graphite is pretty dark.

Copper colored would be slick. Bronze, no thanks.

Fingerprint resistant coatings seems reasonable as well. The steel on the pros, and the back smooth glass on the regular 12’s get disgusting fast.

Superstition is dumb. Name it 13.
Eh the LTPO panels are supposed to use a lot less battery (and if they put a decent sized battery in this time) no reason the battery shouldn't be close to the 11 line (the 12 battery is weak since they shrunk the battery) even with the 120hz and always on display.

I have an idea, let the user change the font. I give up on the iPhone because my aging eyes can't stand the current font. Give the user the option to change the font style Apple!

It’ll be a travesty if/when they get rid of the Pacific Blue…it’s by far the most beautiful color Apple has ever produced.
I have the Pacific Blue and Graphite iPhone 12 Pro. The blue is nice, but the graphite looks so good - it almost seems like a different device as it looks so much more premium and classier.

Apple leaving the “S” moniker behind, along with skipping the iPhone 7s, 8s, 9/9S is going to really put them in an awkward situation, sooner rather than later.

iPhone 23 is just a bit ridiculous.
Is it? It's just a name. Does it matter?

There's already a Galaxy S21. Is iPhone 16, 23 or 28 any different?

I'd personally just call them iPhone and iPhone Pro and drop the numbers completely. They will be differentiated by their model number, year and design. But this will never happen. Because marketing.

1. Definitely loving the sound of bringing back touch id as an option with face recognition. Touch ID will be very useful in these times of mask wearing which might be a norm for sometime.

2. Love the Matte Black colour. looks great.

3. I bet that orange colour they are talking about is more of a "copper" coated plating considering they have gold and rose gold. I said it first... LOL :p:D This could be very legit, I can see apple doing something like that. And here's why I suspect Apple is looking at possible COPPER plated phones.. It has VIRUS killing properties. now that is a good feature in selling phones in these hand santiizing times. There's many studies on Phones and other touch devices that have been proven to be harbouring more dangerous microbes than a toilet seat...go figure... check this article on copper properties fight against viruses and I think more devices will implement it as an option. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-health-coronavirus-copper-antimicrobi-idUSKBN22K0RX

I absolutely love my Pacific Blue 12 Pro Max, but man... Matte Black always looks so good.

I hope the new Macs this year finally come in a Matte/Deep Black!
Had nearly every iteration of iPhone since the ‘07 model that started it all. Always went with black (or space grey). My pacific blue 12 Pro was the first time I strayed from space grey. While a really nice finish, hue, I’ll be returning to the dark side on my next upgrade. Especially if we get matte black. Oh my...

It does seem Apple has an opportunity to move/evolve from the silver aluminum computers. Now that everyone else has followed that trend, it’s time to switch it up. Matte black MBP please. Thanks.

Totally agree. Just like they do with their other products; MacBook Pro (year), iMac (year), etc. Especially since they refresh iPhone yearly, just go year + name: the 2021 iPhone - not unlike cars. The 2021 4Runner. Not the 4Runner 12s plus.
iPhone XS carries little in the way of relatable significance. It’s just ambiguous marketing naming that offers zero connectivity. Whereas the 2019 iPhone is at least grounded in a parameter, time, to which all users can relate.

At the end of the day, they could call them whatever they wanted and they’d still fly off the shelves.

Wouldn’t the new form of LiDAR-reliant Portrait mode be heavily software-based and thusly incredibly easy to bring to the same models in the 12 series?

…Maybe I know nothing. But this is sketching me out as a 12 Pro Max owner who feels like that feature could easily be added to his phone, while also knowing Apple LOVES to keep software-reliant features locked onto their latest gen to incentivize purchase.

Oh well. These features look great; excited for anyone who can get their hands on a phone as beautifully designed as this one.

They listen to all user feedback (I’ve said, along with others, that I’d like to see matte stainless steel edges) except to finally eliminate PWM on the OLED display...

Mine will immediately get a glass screen protector and be popped into a fitted leather case, lest my slippery dry hands drop it on the asphalt. Just make sure the inside works real good!

Exactly! It’s time lol. It’s funny because I love the color gray / space gray whatever, but matte black anything looks sooo much better especially Apple products.

This has to be the year.

If it never arrived it means you never ordered it or the credit card was declined. Easy come - easy go.
Nope, it was, I saw my details on the shop’s waiting list. Didn’t have to pay for it before it was delivered either. Problem was that the 12 Pro was almost completely out of stock worldwide, I couldn’t find any neither on Amazon or at the local shops where I live.

Most people put cases on them so who care about the color
True - but not all. I haven't used a case or screen protector on my iPhones since the iPhone 6. Plus, Apple needs to have attractive promotional materials.

“More graphite than graphite” seems strange. The current graphite is pretty dark.
Apple has been wildly inconsistent with their black/space grey/graphite options. Now, this is likely due to my colorblindness, but beginning with the iPhone 8/X series, the "Space Grey" actually looks like a dark brown in most lighting conditions. I welcome a truly black phone like the iPhone 12 (non Pro).

With the Renaissance chip foundry fire expect that chip prices will go up even to Apple. Tsmc now supplying more than ever and even though Apple has been stock piling chips you can expect the iPhone 13 to be more expensive

sad but true

Oooooo, BLACK! I do like that.
(Side note, I've seen rumors as of last night, so called 'leaks' that Orange will be the new um, Pacific Blue this year??)

Err..if true, well...yes, BLACK please!!
We'll see.
