Samsung delivers the parts to the motorcycle while Apple builds and tunes it.
If we're completely honest here we'd check the website and see that DisplayMate has never tested any of Samsung's current S21 line. That's important because historically Samsung has gifted themselves slightly better displays than the top of the line they sell to other companies. This is also very different from the 'A' series CPUs Apple designs because the display tech is 100% Samsung's baby.

Since no one mentioned it elsewhere, how about the audio?

I had an 11PM and now have a 13PM. When at max volume, it is really loud for a phone. Like louder than the practice volume I use on a guitar amplifier. I never thought I would say, "gee, I need to turn up my amp to hear it over the backing track playing on my phone," but here we are.

And yes, the quality is just fine. No the speakers weren't crackling and no it isn't better than a Home pod. It is really impressive for a phone playing in speaker mode is all I am claiming.
Coming from an iPhone 6S with a faulty speaker it sounds massively better but compared to the 11 or 12 series I have no way of telling. I couldn't imagine wanting it to get any louder that's for sure. I agree the quality is very good for a phone.

Try to scale it up. High end OLED tv’s are much dimmer than their mini led competitors.
Have you ever looked at the latest LG OLEDs? We have a C1 and at its' brightest it's uncomfortable on the eyes and the quality is miles ahead of LCD. My MacBook is the only non-OLED piece of tech I use now and I really wish it would come with an OLED display.

Yup! my parents have one. I went for a high end mini led instead .700lm max on c1 vs 1800lm on my tv. HDR is much better on it, really helps small highlights pop (spark, small flashes etc). LCD vs OLED doesn’t affect clarity if resolution is the same. However top mini led tvs often use VA panels so viewing angles are worse.

lG released a better (much more expensive) oled panel this year but it maxed out at about 850lm and is 2k above a top end mini led model which trounces it, and about 1k above the 700lm oled model, most people don’t recommend it due to price and minimal gains. Like I said, when you scale it up it becomes real hard. During normal viewing the brightness is fine but with HDR the OLEDs are struggling on the back end. Apples oled phones outperform every high end oled tv in brightness.

You seem to be making a factually unsupported assumption. Those Apple Watch panels were primarily made by LG. Lately, JDI has been added to the mix. AW screen manufacture would have no relation to iPhone screens made by Samsung. It's certainly not supporting evidence of your assertion about the iPhone's panels.

Samsung is reportedly the exclusive supplier of LTPO panels for the iPhones with ProMotion capability. Whether that's Samsung's LTPO or Apple's is not known. It does make more sense that Samsung would be using their own LTPO process because it would be more economically feasible to both companies for Samsung to product panels in volume Galaxy S', iPhones, and other handset makers using those LTPO panels. Each company using their own color science would be the differentiator.

LG has no LTPO tech and are rumored to produce some of the panels for the regular OLED iPhone 13.

Is there any clinical study on PWM causing headaches or eye strain? I can't seem to find any.
For what it’s worth, I’ve had every iPhone since the original. Last year I tried the 12 for a week and it gave me blurry vision and the sharpest migraine I’ve ever had in my life, unlike any headache ever experienced. It’s like there’s pressure between your brain and retinas. Switched to the 12Pmax and it subsided days later, but not entirely. Using 13Pmax now and it’s the same issues, albeit minor.

Side question: does anyone know if the Pixel 6 Pro uses PWM?

This anedote is absolute proof in my eyes. There’s no other possible reason why you could have gotten a migraine the one week you tried the 12.

I’m looking at right now and it is the most pleasant screen I’ve ever used no questions. Had heaps of Samsungs and iPhones, even a few HYCs back in the day but man the 13PM is another level.. it might be, too bright!!

iPhones with OLED displays use PWM, therefore they automatically are garbage and should not be winning any awards.

Shame on Apple for using PWM in their displays.

Shame on MacRumors for never reporting about this as being a major issue.

It’s a brain issue for people with PWM issues. See a doctor.
