not getting the replacement phone anymore, can't keep my current phone if the new phone has a worse panel, they want my current phone back, not willing to gamble on getting a worse display, since I'm not having the red tint issue in dark mode like a lot of other people are having.

I have the same red-tinted problem with my iPhone 13 Pro Max 256GB graphite. The red tint will appear with the screen is tuned to the lowest brightness and auto-brightness turned on.
Will send the device back to Apple and get a replacement unit. Hope this resolve the issue.

hello, did you get your replacement? did it come out better? i am on my 4th iphone 13 pro max and still get slight red tint on the right side and a little less on the left side. all of them have the issue all 4, but only in one is visible on greys under 15% brightness the rest can only be detected if run grey slides, they are not red on the settings menu or the keyboard for example. in some of the photos i compared it to an iphone 12 mini, and a galaxy s10 plus and they also has a slight pink tint. i checked my iphone 11 pro max and galaxy s10 plus and half of the screen are pinkish as well, i think all oleds have this to a certain degree and the ones who dont see it just havent look hard enough. what do you guys think?

it seams that you tested it on at least 25% brightness, and didnt run grey slides, at that percentage there is no red tint. AND IF YOUR ARE HAPPY WITH IT DONT TEST IT!
i am 98% sure all of them have a pinkish tint on the sides, but that doesnt mean it will always appear red on the setting menus.

Now its 100% certain that our wives think that we are crazy. 😅

I was in the AT&T store today and checked out the only 2 13PM and 13 Pro they and they both had good screens from what I could see without a dark room.

its impossible to see these defects on day light. i dont even know if i should call them defects anymore, apparently thats how these screens are. Its a spectrum of annoying details from slight pinkish tint on the sides that barely affects regular use to heavy irregular pink tint on light and/or dark modes.

I think that's how screens are this year.

I started with a smaller 13 Pro, then changed it for a 13 PM, then tried 2 more 13 PM’s. They are all like that with various degrees of this red tint. In most cases it’s only visible with almost zero brightness on a white background. It’s just how these screens are this year. I’m keeping my first Pro Max, as it’s more uniform than the other 2 phones. One of them appears less “red”, but the difference between the left side and right side is too distracting to call it a keeper.

I'm still waiting for my replacement unit but it won't be arriving before November :(

Now that looks straight up defective. Your others looked in the margin of error. I haven't seen one yet (of any posted on this site) that didn't look like it had at least some minor variance. I think some of the greys are just hard for OLED to reproduce and they fail over to too much grey or red.

your last sentence made me laugh so hard. My wife told me that I'm crazy, because I stare at static images in a dark room, like...wtf...

My 13 PM has reddish tint on the ride side of the screen on white and grey backgrounds at lowest brightness. But when I turn off Nightshift and truetone it almost solves the problem.

Ok, i got and checked my 6th and LAST iphone 13 pro max, this time i got the sierra blue one, and side note these seem to have no chips or scratches out of the box like the rest. I guess the process makes it a bit more resistant.
anywaysssssss, this red tint issue affects these devices on white or/and dark modes.

this unite had its pinkish tint on the left upper side disappearing down to the center of the phone. it made the settings menu very non-uniform, but when you checked on whites it seamed kinda uniform with a cold tint all around and a hint of pink on the lower area.

compared to my keeper iphone 13 pro max it looked better under 10% brightness on light mode but above that mine looked as perfect on whites with a more all around warmer tint. mine on the other hand looked much better on dark mode with an all around uniform grey with just a hint of pinkish tone on the right side. far better and less distracting.
but my phone (keeper) didnt look as uniform on white screens under 10% brightness in a dark room but is still great and uniform when used anywhere else.

conslusion.... choose your hell jejejjeje
just pick the one that bothers you the least and stop looking for a perfect one... if it doesnt bother you in normal use DO NOT CHECK FOR DEFFECTS!!

THE PINKISH TONE IS NORMAL ON IPHONE 13 PRO, and apparently is somewhat natural to the tech used this year. i guess the screen under performs in low brightness conditions specially under 15% brightness in dark rooms.

i hope this helps... 😃🤝

Is it possible that its get better/ less noticeable over time?
it’s kinda buggin me not gonna lie. I still have my XS lying around which seems almost perfect to my eyes. Really frustrating that I can’t exchange it since its everywhere out of stock here.
Here’s a picture of mine:

Some of these shots don't look great. Sorry about that. What I've found is that it's the variance that really gets you. Even if it's a slight shift in tint or temperature and it changes as you go across the page, you'll keep seeing it once you've seen it. That's been my story anyway.

it look pretty good, what i did was buy another one and compare them to stay with the best one. i did this 6 times. and yours looks pretty good. if it doesnt bother you in normal use i would keep it. they all have this issue to a degree. i kept the one that i posted with the iphone 12 mini and in normal use its perfect.

check your iphone xs at 10% brightness on a pitch dark room and you might find defects.

oled have color shift, red artefacts when scrolling text, pinkish grennish spots or areas. i posted a galaxy s10 plus that seemed fine under regular use and when checked half of the screen was pink.

I have been contact apple support regarding this issue and they told me this was software issue

i dont think it is. it might be less apparent with an update but its a hardware issue.

screen tinting is caused due to another process that takes place while calibrating the display. To allow OLEDs to display colors there is a process used known as shadow mask patterning.

Within this method, there is a deposition of RGB emitting layers on each and every white pixel available on the display. The white light that is produced is filtered via the RGB deposit based on the color that is to be displayed. To do this, Red, Green, and Blue layers are arranged, which emit light in the pixels of the OLED display. This also means that each sub-pixel has individual colors.

The cause for the screen tinting issue occurs during the process that has been explained above. The colored layers mentioned above are deposited on the LEDs using a special stencil referred to as the color mask. If the mask, which is important in this process, is disturbed and or not placed accurately during the deposition, there can be a major error in the spacing process of the color deposits, which causes a non-uniform color output on the display.

"True Purple". This year's screen are a disaster.

And we thought we 've seen it all with 12 PM screens. Raised blacks, greenish etc.

They said that last year on the 12s. What a joke.
I just returned my "keeper" iphone 13 pro max and started using my 11 pro max again after trying out 6 iphones 13 pros without luck on getting a screen that this issue isnt apparent on everyday normal use. The only feature i really miss is the 120hz.

i understand it is a common issue with oled in general but this is a € 1,834.00 device (1TB) and the first year that i cant find a decent iphone screen after exchanging a couple of them.

I might try again after christmas maybe by then then they get their quality control tolerances right on these garbage screens. 😄🥲
