do they need it for marketing purposes? yes, almost every Android have it - and iPhone 'power' users want it

But does having 120hz allows regular joe to launch facebook faster, take better/faster photos, faster/more accurate typing NO - and yes, I switch from iPhone Pro to iPad pro and I don't any difference
well no you won't be using your phone any differently it will just feel and look better when scrolling. for most people this won't matter at all but I love it on my iPad Pro so would welcome this for sure.

if we get 120hz with ltpo battery life will be as good as who knows we may get AOD and under display touch ID...

Yup. That’s why Apple resisted it on smaller devices until they had the right technology at hand. Unlike Android tech-sheet-obsessed OEMs.
Samsung is using LPTO right now. Apple will do it next year. Apple is obsessing with tech-sheets just like others they are just a little bit slow (sometimes by a few years as was the case for OLED and NFC)

120 Hz display... the one feature I don’t understand the buzz about. I’m sure I would disable it in setting in favor of battery life.

Edit: I have iPad Pro with ProMotion, I have never ever noticed the difference with my previous iPad.

Same here no thanks. Unless there's zero impact on battery life.

I guess it's an easy entry point for those jonesing for a good Apple whine.

Just curious why we are all calling next year's iPhone the iPhone 13 since we will be in the second iteration of the 3 year cycle which will make this the iPhone 12s. I won't be surprised if the next year's main color emphasis will be of a new gold color as most (s) years seems to focus on gold.

120hz would be an immediate buy for me. It looks so good on the iPad.
It's the reason I hung onto my XS Max instead of going for the 12 series. 120hz on the iPad is definitely noticeable as well as on my 144hz desktop PC monitor. I won't buy new tech without an 120+ hz option

LTPO technology would result in a more power efficient backplane, which is responsible for turning individual pixels on and off on the display. In turn, this could allow for a 120Hz refresh rate for more fluid scrolling and smoother motion without causing too much of a hit on battery life.
Or you could presumably use it with a lower refresh rate to improve battery life? Certainly with a smaller model (so smaller battery) I'd personally think that would be a better use.

(And before anyone says "you've obviously never used a 120 Hz display" I have a 2020 iPad Pro on my desk).

For half the price, Sony XM3/XM4, Bose 700, B&O PX7, etc.

All better choices.

The number of people who have actually gotten them yet is miniscule and I havent seen any proper reviews yet so I'm going to go with assuming you're just trash talking here. If it turns out they're actually terrible I'll be happy to apologize, but I suspect they'll compete favorably, as good or close to it, with other headphones in their price range and have a few features, like spatial audio, those don't

LTPO and ProMotion would be great for everyone if Apple just lets you choose what you want your maximum refresh rate to be (e.g. 60Hz, 90Hz, 120Hz). The iPhone 12 not having it is the main reason I didn't buy. I look at my phone screen a lot, an increase in temporal resolution means text and images are still sharp even when being scrolled or manipulated. It's night and day for me, equivalent to how sharp an iPhone 4 looked compared to the 3GS: 60Hz displays look choppy and blurry in comparison.

People who don't notice a difference might use their devices in a more static way: typing out long responses on a non-moving screen, reading articles from the top of the screen to the bottom, viewing full screen movies and pictures. I'm constantly switching between apps and have my finger perpetually on the phone, rapidly scrolling and adjusting as I scan for information I want. The constant motion makes it more obvious.

Yep we all need a new phone next year. I mean the 12 is so out of date. Apple disgusts me with their throw away bs. Earth friendly. I don’t think so.
How is Apple different from any other company. Every year every tech company releases new updated products to replace the prior years items. So yeah, lets single out Apple lol. Every phone maker, TV maker, etc, etc all do it.

Apple has always been slow. Remember the other music players and the iPod? Or even PowerMacs and comparable Wintel machines? Its just Apple, and honestly, I don't mind it. I would much rather that they get it right the first time around.

We just got a new gold color, then again, we got a new gold color every year, and they are nowhere near as consistent with gold as they are with white & silver. Black/Space Gray is somewhat consistent.

Wonder if the iPhone 13 models will also have cheap oled piss yellow screens like my iPhone 12 Pro max, grey colours looking green/yellow.
