will be really interesting to see with 120hz at LTPO if we will see always on display....
why would anyone want always on display for the phone? I have it on my series 6 and turned it off after a week. who cares if other people can see whats on your display. The amount of times it came in handy for myself in that 1 week was not worth the extra 20-25% battery drain every day

I sold my 10.5 iPad Pro and replaced it with an iPad Air 4. I have yet to notice the missing ProMotion

I'll be honest I jump between my MacBook Pro and my iPad and iPhone and it's not something I noticed either - and yet if I use a 144hz display in macOS the different is night and day.

You missed the reference/joke.

Look for recent articles about iPad Pro display.

I'm fairly certain no one but you is going to get that joke. Is it really a joke if you're the only one who knows the context? It would take an incredible leap to draw a conclusion that you're joking about iPad references... which don't appear anywhere in your single sentence. There are no indicators of a joke. Maybe reading between the lines will reveal the humorous part. With there being only one line, I'm not holding out hope. :D :D

Because everybody is different and not everybody uses an Apple Watch or one that’s new with AOD

Many want that option to have on the screen quickly but seeing as AOD won’t be like on android seeing notifications I imagine we may not see it but Apple Watch wise I certainly wouldn’t get another watch without AOD

Thought it would also be time to acknowledge the pivotal role Samsung plays in Apples business besides the trash people generally love to dish up to them?

To be fair Samsung's manufacturing arm has nothing to do with the product team. Samsung mobile is a customer for Samsung display just like Apple is.

I completely agree.I switched it off after 2 days when i got my AW S6.I keep raise wrist to wake off too.I tap to wake.Really extends battery life.

Everybody talks about Promotion in relation to 120 Hz. I'm more excited about going the other way. When you phone lock screen or home screen is on or when you are just reading a web page, Promotion can drop the refresh rate all the way down to 1 Hz and save a ton of battery life and then instantly ramp up to 60/120 Hz when you start interacting

I have an iPad Pro and I certainly notice the difference when I switch between that, my iPad mini, and my iPhone. However, I wouldn't say it is a deal breaker like OLED vs. LCD or something like that. i.e. this change alone won't tempt me that much to upgrade (though I probably still will ;))

Love 120hz on my IPP. Wouldnt / couldn’t go back to 60 Hz on that format

Hate how fast the battery drains. Not sure I want this on a phone, but I’m sure the technology is more mature by release of the 13.

Not a huge observed difference between my IPP and OLED iPhone 12 Pro

OK, always on display is interesting.....

Having said that, I have found with identical settings my Apple Watch 6 drains its battery faster than the wife's SE. The only difference is the always on display on mine.
I have the AW6 and start the day at 100%, by the end of the day it's at 70%ish. I put it on the charger for a little bit and it's back to 100% and then put it back on for the sleep monitoring. In the morning it's at high 80%, I put it on the charger while I'm getting going and then it's back to 100% and put it back on. When I first got it..when if became available it was sucking down the battery like all hell. The 2nd up after it was released fixed that battery life issue.

I really cannot notice the difference in refresh rate between my 2018 iPad Pro and my iPhone 12 Pro Max or my previous 11 Pro Max and XS Max.It's all completely overhyped if you ask me 🤷‍♂️

My feelings as well. Especially if there's an adverse consequence of less battery life or higher price.

It is, though, a great entry point for having a good Apple rant, for some. Along with the HomePod Mini having a permanently attached power cord, non-zero width display bezels, and Tim Cook needs to go.

1. On your iPad Pro, go into Accessibility, Motion and turn ON Limit Frame Rate

2. Use your iPad Pro fully for around 5 minutes.

3. Go back into Accessibility and turn OFF Limit Frame Rate

4. Observe the results.

both my series 5 and series 6 struggled battery life wise. normally from 7am til 23:30pm it's on about 20% by the time I go to bed so not great but I charge every night anyway so not a big deal but still would be nice if it was better certainly if I did some workouts

Honest question: how high a refresh rate is good enough for you? Just curious. I've seen several posts asking for 120Hz displays. I've also seen 144Hz and 240Hz displays. Honestly curious to see how high people really want it.

If it flickers (PWM dimming) like their last eight iPhones— it's yet another failure once again

I have a 10.5” iPad Pro with 120 Hz too. I don’t really care much about the 120 Hz part. I suppose the variable refresh display feature is nice for power savings, but 120 Hz per se isn’t very interesting to me on my iPad. Maybe it would be more useful if I was editing video more often though.

I just got an Apple Watch Series 5 and the always-on-display is the feature I like the most. I don’t think I could ever get a Watch without it. Battery life needs to be better though.

I look forward to the day when my phone has an always-on-display too, with good battery life, but I’m 99% sure that the iPhone 13 series will not get it. It may be like the Watch, where the S4 got an LPTO display but not always-on. Always-on didn’t come until S5.

I thought the same until yesterday when I played with a 120Hz display phone for the first time (OnePlus 8T). It's absolutely striking to see and definitely makes a huge difference in the visual fluidity. It's so good it almost makes Android usable 🤣
Glad you used "almost"..... ;)

Honestly, what would this industry do without Samsung's innovation. When it comes to displays and the mobile industry, I'm just happy Samsung made big displays so popular. Apple without a doubt, would still be making phones with less than 5 inch displays.

iPad Pro running Safari. 120Hz Promotion display. But only 60Hz in Safari...

M1 Mac Mini running Safari. 120Hz monitor, Safari runs at full 120Hz...

Until Apple changes this for Safari then many people won’t see the benefit of a 120Hz in the new iPhone.

Because they couldn't have done this for the 12 Pro this year?

It's so Apple. Hold back a feature to make it a feature next year.

I'm guessing the 13 will have a slightly smaller notch...in this case, a cosmetic feature.
