Hello everyone!

wanted to check if anyone has already purchased the leather case for their iPhone 13 Pro/Pro Max and find that the fit for this year's case the same as last year? or is it very snug/tight fitting this year?

I noticed the stainless steel band is still exposed where the lip of the case is still not covering it from watching some youtube videos which reminds me of my experience last year with my 12PM was that my saddle brown case could pop off at corners and there would be a huge risk that the phone would come off the case during a drop and damage the stainless steel bands, i returned it because of this.

Don't understand why won't Apple create the leather case with the lip that wraps over the stainless steel bands for a better grip.

Look forward to hear from all!

Thanks!

No issue with corners popping off. Have both the sequoia green and dark cherry and both are fine.
If anything, they seem more secure and harder to take off.

Yes, I have been through 2 which are doing it. For what they cost its not acceptable, they are going back.

I'm having this issue with my 13P with a sequoia green. I cant seem to pinpoint what causes it, but id say 10% of the time when it is in my pocket and I take it out the bottom left corner pops out. I'm going to give it a few days to see if it just needs to settle in.

In my experience and from all I read last year about the 12 cases if it doesn't fit when you first get it it's not going to fit later.

Mine does the same thing on my midnight case but not on the dark cherry which I currently have on my 13 pro max right now

im going to say its probably not in all the way. Wife puts her max in the leggings with pockets and its never come off at all.

Other possibility is that you picked a defective one, swap it out before the 14days to confirm to be sure.

I bought black apple leather case for my 13 max and I have experienced same issue as I have experienced with 12 last year - bottom right corner popping out. Did same thing I did last year, returned it. Sticking with Spigen and OtterBox cases for another year.

I have the dark cherry leather case on my 13 pro max and this case is snug to the point of taking it off takes some work. I can’t see any way that a corner would pop out on it’s own on mine.
Dark Cherry on my 13 pro and it’s firmly fixed in the case and I agree, can’t see it coming loose at all.

Iphone 13PM and wisteria leather case. This is my first Apple case. I've always gone third party, so I wasn't sure what to expect. It took a little more effort to "snap" it in than I anticipated, but once it was in, it fits like a glove. No issues popping out.

Yes, my 13 pro silicone case is popping off on the bottom right. It’s not great. I’ll be returning it.

Not having this issue at all. Maybe a few defect cases on the loose, excuse the pun.
Seems to be a known problem; at least with last year’s leather cases.

If you drop it on a hard surface, check to see if it very slightly popped off a corner. It’s a just a mm or two, but it’s enough to damage the phone. Both of my iPhone 12 Apple leather cases did this and I ended up with dents and scuffs on the corners of the phone. It never popped off when taking it in/out of pockets, etc. it was just when I dropped it. I couldn’t trust them so I switched to a different type of case. I’ve been using Apple leather cases since the beginning with no issues until the iPhone 12.

My iPhone 12 Pro Max saddle brown leather case exhibited the same behavior. Also, the leather began to peel off in several places, which had never happen in any of the saddle brown leather cases I'd owned since they came out. Also, the patina was different with this one; it never got as dark as all the others. Something was definitely different regarding the construction of the case for the 12 Pro Max. I wouldn't be surprised if the loose corners problem and bad patina continued this time around.

My Midnight case for my 13 Pro pops off at the corners whilst in my pocket. It’s on right. It’s going back to Apple.

From the above it seems that the Cherry ones fit ok?

right I have both and it happens , dark cherry sits deeper and has more lip, doesn't fit that snug as my midnight leather.

different manufacturing lines or materials? or just a bad batch?

IMO, This has to do with the challenging design of the new cases and apple’s choices in the matter. It seems they designed the cases to RELY on MagSafe to keep them on the phone securely. They relaxed the lip around the front to make the case come on and off more easily, and give a peek at the steel band color around the glass. IMO this was a bad choice, but the alternative might have been “too hard to get on and off” as a result of the sharp edge around the phone face.

therefore as you noted, minor differences in production lines/material thickness/variation-in-assembly WOULD be the difference between a case that “works” and one that doesn’t. The tolerances for effectiveness are just so tiny, that these variations matter.

As a product designer I NEVER rely on such minor details to hinge the functionality of the product on. You are just asking for problems, as production variation can reach levels of 10% on cut and sew products (this isn’t exactly that, but it is “hand crafted”.)

I think it needs to be reiterated that this isn't ALL leather cases from Apple. I have a Midnight case and it fits perfectly. And it isn't just Apple's cases that are at risk of the phone popping out and getting damaged in a fall as my 12 Pro was dropped by someone that isn't me and had a nice little nick in the frame on the bottom of the phone that matched up with a gouge in the Decoded leather case that it was wearing.

If you're accident prone or have small children that have access to your phone, a leather case is probably not for you. If you bought one and its corners are popping off, get it replaced.

I second this and can report that the leather case I got as a replacement shows little to none of the slippage as my silicone case. It’s much tighter around the edges, with what feels like more friction holding the phone in.

I used an Apple leather case for my iPhone 12 Pro last year and I had the problem with corners popping off. This year I bought the Midnight leather case for my iPhone 13 Peo Max and it’s way better. It’s really snug and to the point it’s hard to get out of the case again.

Midnight leather for 13 Pro. No issues with corners popping off. Was definitely an issue with the black leather i had for 12 Pro. I also find that this years case is somewhat harder to take off compared to last years.
