My theory is this problem is in large part user error....

Most people don't change cases often and these cases aren't designed to be taken on and off often.

You can tell from the responses that in large part the people complaining are the people that have ~ 20 cases. IOW, people that change cases often.

And the people that have ~ 20 cases are obviously more likely the type to complain about a case on a message board so the responses are heavily skewed to the negative.

I disagree. I tried 5 different NEW cases and all of them were loose fitting. Even if it were true, seriously, these aren't cheap so that is unacceptable.

I agree. Tried cases in different Best buys and same result. For me it was bottom right is popping out. All other corners are snapping in, except right corner.

I'm thinking about going back to either an Apple leather or silicone case, so I'm checking this thread often to see what the general review is. I had a strange issue with last year's leather case: It was my daily driver (and it was the first case I purchased). The case was perfect from the beginning, but maybe six months in, for only a few weeks, the top left corner suddenly started popping out. I didn't do anything about it, but phone stopped popping out at the end of those few weeks.

Sequoia (9/21) = left lower corner bad. The top edge of case in that corner does NOT seem to go over the phone metal edge completely…so, it slips off the metal edge easily. That corner does not “click” over the metal band of phone.

Midnight (9/21) = perfect x 4 corners. Every top edge come over the metal edge of phone nicely.

You almost can feel the difference just by sliding your finger along the top edge of the case. The Midnight has a more discernible lip while the Sequoia lower left corner, the lip is less “aggressive” feeling.

I have tried 3 different cases, Apple leather, Meifigno Clear case from Amazon and now using the Lonli leather case which is much nicer than the Apple leather case. My 13 Pro Max pops out on all of them. Lonli-Top left corner, Apple-bottom right corner and Meifigno-top right corner. All of the cases I have tried are MagSafe. Maybe a non MAgSafe case is the key here. Either there is an issue with the phone or the case manufacturers produced the cases incorrectly. I have typically used flip cases in the past and never had an issue. Something definitely isn't right here.

Soo basically another version of
- You are holding it wrong?

Ok. Gotcha!
Lol exactly. The problem is the design, not the user. This case has no physical stop preventing the phone from popping out. This was a conscious choice by apple, to keep the “MagSafe” concept intact. They say the magnets are what holds the case on, not a “wrap” around the front. Unfortunately the magnets aren’t strong enough to overcome the friction that remains from the case sides when the phone pops out slightly.

It’s a bad (or poorly considered) design. Especially for a 2T company

I also think seeing the metal band slightly around all of the edges was something they wanted to keep, and wrapping the leather around the phone slightly would hide it. Again, I personally don’t like this choice but I suspect others do.

I can see the stainless steel frame all around the phone with the apple leather case on. Is that ok?. I used an Spigen case that has like a lip so the phone gets under it and make a “click” when it fits.

The apple leather is tight but not “click” when I put it on, is like is pressed in?

Talking about this is ridiculous hahaha

Normal. Apple leather case = shows the metal band.

Just dropping in to say.. I bought the Midnight leather case for my 13P upon release and had the corners popping off as above.
I raised a return with Apple but never went through with it, mostly for laziness reasons.
A few weeks later and the corners don’t pop off at all now. Nothing scientific to report but for whatever reason - it was awful and now it’s fine.

Something similar happened to me with the black Apple leather case for my 12 Pro Max. For a long time, the corners weren't popping off. But then, I started to notice that my silent toggle was switched. At first I thought I was doing it and forgetting to switch it back, until I noticed the phone sticking out in that corner. However, after a week, it stopped popping out again.

No. I have never heard of such. Where r u reading from?

This one is from an old thread of iPhone 12 Pro :

Just got the sequoia green leather from Amazon (9/21) and top left and bottom right kept popping off and my mute switch keep turning on.

Got another sequoia green same 9/21 date and is much better. ??‍♂️

Got mine off Amazon too - Perfect fit, first time.

Much better than the trial and error I went through with Baltic Blue and Black leather cases with my 12Pro

My golden brown case pops off at the corners quite regularly as well. It‘s pretty annoying, but I can‘t see there being much of an improvement since most cases don‘t have the lip around the front that used to grip the older iPhone 11s and previous phones.

I had one for my 12 pro and felt it was attached well (never came loose at all and hard to get off) until it dropped waist high onto concrete, two corners popped loose and the stainless steel was scratched. I wouldn't count on these magsafe Apple cases protecting the phones until they wrap over the front like most good cases. They are nice feeling and look great though!

So, overall the silicone is better than the leather case from apple?

Just bought an iPhone 13 with apple leather case and I'm very disappointed.

Hoping the silicone fits better?
