iPhone 13 Pro iPhone 13 Pro: Tap Screen to Wake

I’ve noticed that sometimes tapping the screen on my iPhone 13 Pro doesn’t wake the phone. It’s random when this happens. When it does happen the power button will wake the device. Anyone else experiencing this?

happens like once every 30 times? Tap the screen while locked and sleeping had no response. But once you lift the phone or press the power button the touch screen responds again
 
Out of curiosity, do you guys have screen protectors installed? I recall that last year at launch there was an issue with wake on touch with the iPhone 12 mini when people had certain screen protectors installed.
 
No screen protector on my phone. It’s strange because it occurs inconsistently, but when it does occur, the tap absolutely doesn’t work.

Hmm, well, that’s not it then. Is it plugged in when you have this issue? I’ve seen problems in the back where line noise from certain chargers will interfere with touch operations when the phone is plugged in, or even sitting on a QI charger.

Not charging, but it has only happened twice in the last 2 days. I’ll see if it keeps happening.
 
Yes, I’m experiencing the same thing on my 13 Pro Max and came here to see if anyone reported this. Hoping it gets fixed in an update.
 
Happened to me as well. So I had to do a soft reboot and now all is well. However I sent the phone back and wait till next year

This happened to me as well and there’s no response to tapping on the screen. Even though I have a screen protector on there, I’ve always had screen protectors with no issues. So I did a soft reset and now all is well.
 
Yes same. I’m so glad to have found this thread. I’m loving this phone but a bit concerned.

There’s also been a couple of times changing styles in the settings menu and then going back to the camera app seems to catch the phone “sleeping” with a black screen for a few seconds too long. I don’t know if that’s a related issue.

I do not have Raise to Wake turned on as that feature just isn’t something I like using. I prefer tap to wake.
 
This would happen from time to time on my 12 pro, but I have not experienced it yet on my 13 Pro Max.
 
Yes . I am getting that issue , first I thought it was my screen protector ( Torras ) , and I removed , but this issue still happening , waste 1 of my screen protector !

I think we will get an update of software soon to fix some problem ,
 
I’ve had tap to wake stop working 3 times in the past 2 days on my 13 pro. Restarting the phone temporarily fixes it. Toggling tap to wake in settings does not fix it. There are several threads about this on Reddit too. Hopefully this is a software glitch they will fix and not hardware.
