Not sure how much weight reduction the titanium will bring but if it weights at least 20gs less than my 13 pro then take my money. Honestly I’d pay 1500 for a 15 pro if it weighed the same as the regular 14.

well MR - where is that faster 5G modem on your list?

I have the 13ProMx and am very happy with it. There's not really anything on the list in the article except for the camera improvements (though I want a optical zoom periscope lens and still not convinced the 15 will have that).
everything else is just meh, don't need any of it.
But historically I've upgraded every 2 years so we shall see

I upgrade my Apple products only when they break. I try to maintain my stuff nicely, so what I call "breakage" is typically going to be related to aging software, Apple deciding to no longer support updates on my old devices, or an actual physical dropping of the device. (I once dropped my 15 inch MPB from about 5 feet onto a concrete floor at LAX and it devastated me.) Anyway, my Apple replacement cycles take place after at least 8 years typically.

Until Jan 2023, my last iPhone was a Gen 1 SE which I bought in 2018.

The battery started expanding in 2022 and then, in the Fall of 2022, the battery bulged out enough to pop the screen out of the bezel / metal side frame. I put a rubber band around the top edge of the phone to hold the screen, and then I kept using it. Folks kept saying I should replace that phone ASAP because the battery might explode.

Warning noted.

On Jan 31, 2023, I bought the 13 mini in the midnight as a replacement for the SE. I like the small size of the SE, so the 13 mini allowed me to retain the small size within a nicely updated device. And I love the midnight color.

NOTE: I still use the SE as a really small iPad-like wifi device. Works fine even with the rubber bands holding the screen in place. I don't use it enough to be worried about the bulging battery. Or explosions.

But... that 13 mini can get so hot. The news website that I look at has pop-up videos that appear at random. When those videos start popping up and running, the 13 mini will go from super cool to really hot in my hand within seconds. I hate it. I am not sure if the heat is due to the chip being overtaxed... or if there is not enough memory to handle the throughput for the page and for the pop-ups... or if it is a combination of heat from the chip, the memory chip, and the battery.

Although I bought the 13 mini a few months ago, I would replace it in a heartbeat if a new iPhone would do a better job staying cool.

Wait…?!? Are people still on 13? I thought you were supposed to upgrade every year?

(Sorry 😂 I’m still on my 12 mini and fear the day where I need to upgrade to not only a new phone but also jeans that can fit a board)

I don't know... maybe I'll get this one, but I still feel burned after getting my iPhone 12 Pro Max for its camera. That camera has rarely taken a picture I've been happy with, no matter how many times I've cleaned it I get unacceptable amounts of lens-flare, and their algorithm based photography makes me just want to throw the phone in the trash as I can never just snap a quick photo. I don't care about perfect low light photos, I care about actually getting the photo before whatever I was trying to take a picture of is gone or completely blurry from a 3 second set of stacked photos.

Its hard for me to ever justify an extra thousand on an iPhone for the top of the line camera experience after that, this is probably the longest I've kept an iPhone as I usually upgraded every year... but I just feel burned from that round.

I might upgrade due to the Titanium frame. If it can knock a good bit of weight off of the iPhone Pro I am all in.

So almost nothing again to write home about that will make a real difference day to day.

I’m still on my 11 pro because I love the design and the green colour. Apart from the camera there is nothing that is enticing.

Oh and in the UK it will be another £100 premium on last year for the same storage so probably £1300+ for a 256gb version. Probably keep my 11 another year and see what happens next year.

Still a fab phone, fast, looks great and I think the camera still holds up.

Only upgrade if you are from iPhone 12 series and older... If you are on 13 series and 14 series, don't upgrade yet... Unless you have the financial capability by either trading your current phone or paying full price...

I am actually going to hold onto my 12 Pro Max for yet another year. It’s not slow one bit and the iOS experience isn’t that much different. I think next year will be the year I’ll finally upgrade, was initially thinking this year but the rumors for iPhone 16 are already more exciting than this years „filler“ generation

I know the odds are not in my favor but I’m really holding out for a Mini. Been on large screens since the Plus models. Bout to grab an iPad mini 6 so I could go down in iPhone screen size and be just fine.

Just personally, I wouldn’t upgrade unless you have a 12 pro or earlier. I have a 12 pro max and even I’m wondering if I should wait another year or two for the possibility of under display Face ID or telephoto lens
